I’ve been ignored for years of my complaints of being tired. I sleep for 10 hours sometimes and still feel exhausted. 90% of my diet is healthy, I’m active and I don’t use any drugs (legal or illegal). However, I have lived a very VERY stressful life and at some points it was non stop. Now that I’ve ridden myself of that stressful life I want to get back to my life. Having doctors tell me I’m text book healthy and there’s nothing wrong with me has been so disheartening. When I push my luck with them, they offer drugs as a way to help. I refused of course and since then I have given up on conventional medicine. I hope doctors can learn to take people like me seriously.

Call it what you want, in my opinion and accordingly to my experience adrenal fatigue is a final stage of severe energy loss - u can also call it (exhaustion)depression. At this stage the adrenal glands can not cope with the stress and "shut down". But there is truely a reason for that. We can not function at all cost, because we are humans. If you consider the situation as a whole always ask: "Why am I fatigued and stressed out?" Only giving some supplement or even hormones will not fix the problem at the end. We have to alter the situation or misleading and harmful thoughts. Adrenal Fatigue wants to yell to you: "Dude, please make your life better, change something!" I wish you all the best friends!

If a doctor can’t figure out what is wrong with you, they label you with a mental illness as a cover up that they can’t find the problem. So they’ll say you have anxiety, depression, or something. I think “adrenal fatigue” WAS assumed to be low functioning adrenal glands from excess stress, and the medical/scientific community proved that not to be the case, but that doesn’t mean that “adrenal fatigue,” doesn’t exist - it probably just needs a new definition. I feel fatigued to the point of my adrenal system not functioning like it used to be able to. Maybe the disorder doesn’t reside in a dysfunction of the literal adrenal glands, maybe it’s in a part of the brain that is refusing to communicate with my adrenal glands like it used to. But “adrenal fatigue” is a real phenomenon that needs better understanding and treatment options.

Many of these symptoms are caused by elevated histamine, the most overlooked neurotransmitter of all time, and other inflammatory markers. Dysautonomia is very often what's going on in people who say they have adrenal fatigue. Dysautonomia fundamentally is the failure of the body to adequately move blood around to perform different tasks at different times. It is a result of chronic inflammation, as if you are inflamed in one place, any body part trying to perform some task will have insufficient blood flow to really do it well. Many times "brain fog" is just not enough blood in your head (but only by a small amount, not enough to cause serious damage). Differences in histamine can cause both insomnia and difficulty waking. Histamine is also responsible for memory in large part, and cognition in general. Perfectionists, overachievers, highly sensitive children all have chronically elevated histamine. It's so common we see it as a personality type rather than a disorder. Many people with "adrenal fatigue" are perfectionists.

Isn't it called HPA axis dysfunction, and it does have medical basis. From the info I've been given with my HPA diagnosis it's not categorisable under "adrenal dysfunction" because it's not specifically about the adrenals but the interplay between the Hypothalamus, pituitary, and adrenals. It also mentioned that it's necessary to move away from the "adrenal fatigue" label as the medical community harbours distain for the term... gotta say you're proving that point. The symptoms aren't any more "non specific" than many other conditions, I found that a particularly weak point in the argument against the existence of this condition. Cortisol tests exist and are it's not a wild leap to couple those results with symptoms and figure out something is medically a-foot.
@lovesgibson
@lovesgibson 3 жыл бұрын
Lmaooo wow. So basically you haven’t even looked into it if you just think it’s only comprised of “nonspecific symptoms”. Medical Doctors specializing in this have categorized 4 stages of Adrenal fatigue. What was the point of this video? You don’t think adrenal fatigue is real, but don’t have any other answers for this condition that can be completely debilitating, and basically just pass it off as someone being depressed and making it up essentially? And then you try to discourage them from taking supplements that have lots of literature on them that could help them. Wow, So you don’t want them to take ashwaganda or adrenal extracts to make themselves feel better. It’s only okay for them to take your addicting drugs. Cool!

The reality is that doctors aren't gods. They don't know every possible medical problem that can arise in humans. They look for patterns, then make inferences, and then test those inferences. When their inferences are wrong, they are NOT going to just assume patients are correct because patients *feel* like they are correct. That's not how the scientific method works.

Great information and thanks! However doctors continue to not test using full thyroid panels nor treat properly, thyroid disease if at all, let alone fight to get them to test adrenals. 40+ years continually experiencing doctors tell me to see a psychiatrist, blaming me when in fact I had Hashimotos all along. It was holistic doctors who tested and treated me when I came close to death. The system is severely broken.

This video was very informative but one thing I did not agree with was asking the physicians to steer patients away from supplements that are sometimes recommended by alternative medicine. There are many supplements, especially those made with botanical plants, that have been properly researched and reviewed and found to help the body deal with stress and some of the other symptoms you mentioned above. These botanicals and supplements can also work together with medication to have an even greater effect in the treatment plan. The best type of medicine is one where conventional and alternative medicine work together to give patients options and a more holistic treatment.

Totally. Every medicine should be complementary. Herbs, nutrition, bush flowers, reiki, massage, physio, chiro, dental, surgery, and regular western medicine, all working together for the benefit of the patient. .....but, if we become more healthy and aware of our own bodies, will we stop spending money on seeing doctors and buying our monthly scripts? It all comes down to money. If we are healthy and happy we prevent disease states. They can't make money on that, and it's harder to control a happy healthy population.

The cortisol/adrenal insufficiency tests aren't even covered by insurance here in the US, so how would they even know if they don't test for it? This is also why it's so important to taper slowly off of steroids. Hinting that it is actually real.

It's sad but we have to take things in our own hands and be our own advocate. We can't depend on doctors to offer help since most don't understand females hormones in our 40s and up. We have to educate ourselves as much as possible and demand they do the tests we want and help us figure which medication/hormon therapy we might need or what we might be deficient in. In my experience they have no interest in doing this unless it's forced but I didn't know to ask. Also what we eat makes a HUGE difference. I cut out certain foods and added other and researching supplements that help hormone and thyroid balance. I'm starting to feel like a new person.

Endocrinology is extremely complicated. Would probably take two weeks or a month of solid reading on the literature or text book for a lay person to get a basic grasp. I’m reading neuroscience and the less pop-neuro the books are the longer they take to get through. Especially hard was the gut microbiome book I read, which was zero hype, but some interesting factoids and a lot of microbiology. I’m a lay person of the biological science but have found them so deeply fascinating. Endocrinology is another rabbit hole that is so important though. Dr's job: 1. "listen" to symptoms 2. discard symptoms as all in patient's head 3. prescribe anti-depressants 4. next patient I've wasted so much time with the crappy traditional medicine (endo's, psychs, gps, neurologists) and got nowhere. Then I started working with a functional medicine doctor who believes in so called mythical illnesses like this and guess what, I haven't felt better in years. Western medicine is a joke and doctors don't think outside the box and discount everything because they're arrogant bastards.

Interestingly, my problems were exacerbated after I was prescribed a 7 day course of Prednisone for a recurring sinus infection. Thereafter anxiety, heart rate up, BP high , irritability, low tolerance to stressors increased and I am battling to get it back down. I did go through a period of high stress, 2 x deaths, losses, illness. But it's possible the prednisone tipped the natural balance

Absolutely. I think some people can have low coritsol (insufficiency) and other people can present with normal cortisol levels, but their body isn't very responsive to it, because they have been bombarding their cells with the hormone, yet cells have mechanisms that allow them to regulate their own sensitvity to it.

Talk about vague: there was no content here whatever to really help the patient. And "steering the patient away" from using herbs and supplements, which often have been vetted by centuries of use and then not helping them medically because their symptoms don't measure up can VERY easily leave them in a critical condition.

When you said you were at the NIH, you torpedoed your credibility. When you said that adrenal fatigue is not a diagnosis in current medical sciences you sealed the deal. The NIH is not the arbiter of all medical knowledge and there are plenty of current medical sciences other than the very narrow view of the NIH which happens to be whatever Pfizer tells them it is. I worked as a veterinarinary extern at nih, volunteered for a project there at the same time the first aids patient was there and knew a physician who was leaving practice to direct the lyme department. He told me in order to get the job, he had to throw out his professional ethics and just do what ever the expected outcome was. He had to shape the studies to get results that the NIH had predetermined even though he knew they were wrong and the "conclusions"reached would injure patients. I saw the same thing in my externship. My "mentors" threw out the data that I collected for them if it did not agree with what the drug company wanted them to say. So much for"current medical 'science'" Your day is coming.

1st of all, why the unnecessary annoying and distracting background music? 2nd NIH is VERY CORRUPT!!! I'm not going to cite examples but they're public and can be found. 3rd:. Modern medicine is NOT preventative. You have to have a full blown disease to be diagnosed as such. An example is Low Thyroid:. The test is done on a bell curve so people can have horrible symptoms but they didn't show up on the antiquated testing method. (I love how Dr. Ken Berry explains this malpractice.). Bonus:. Most Physicians don't even know how to interpret test results. 4th:. 'Do no harm' is a joke. Have you ever listened to the side effects of common drugs advertised in n KZbin? *Cheaper, healthier alternatives to pharma that actually work better without harmful side effects are ALWAYS discredited and suppressed by the medical establishment. Because they're not profitable and you can't patent nature.

Ask the expert? Is that what your called? I apologize but just because you went to medical school does not make you an expert on this subject especially because you deal with the results and you don’t deal with preventing it. Your hormones! Yes! Those change after stress. I finally went to a preventative MD and she treated me. What your saying is what regular doctors are taught and not a remedy and you appear to be a hormonal doctor which yes, adrenal issues cause hormonal changes but that is the result and not the cause. I highly encourage you if you are going to post stuff like this on this channel to do further research and check out preventative medicine because you really are giving false and backdated medical advice. Hormonal issues are the result but there are many tests you need to take to verify the condition. It’s actually verifiable but normal doctors are not taught this. They are taught to treat and not prevent.

Amen to that. Medical Doctors are some of the most ignorant people on this planet. They learned so much that it made them blind. They just match patterns between their "knowledge" and what the patient says. Plus, "science" actually knows very little about human body. Calling himself an expert is cocky as hell.

A recent review of 58 studies concluded that there is no scientific basis to associate adrenal impairment as a cause of fatigue. The authors report the studies had some limitations. The research included used many different biological markers and questionnaires to detect adrenal fatigue. For example, salivary cortisol is one of the most common ordered tests used to make a diagnosis. The cortisol level, when checked four times in a 24-hour period, was no different between fatigued and healthy patients in 61.5% of the studies. The review raises questions around what should get tested (blood, urine, and/or saliva), the best time, how often, what ranges are considered normal, and how reliable the tests are, to name a few. In summary, there is no formal criteria to define and diagnose adrenal fatigue.
@skunkyboy19
@skunkyboy19 3 жыл бұрын
@Steve Hutchison Is saliva testing for cortisol accurate? Studies show this the saliva test is about 90% accurate in diagnosing Cushing syndrome. You'll do it at night, before you go to bed. That's because cortisol levels tend to be lowest between 11 p.m. and midnight. A high cortisol level near midnight can signal a disorder. This is used for tumors and never used for a final diagnosis.
