Just to encourage someone out there, I saw my period on 24th-27th Dec and had unprotected sex on the 28th dec! Even though I was sure he did withdrawal method but don’t want to take chances, I took contraceptives within 48hrs difference!! My menstrual cycle is 28days which my next period is supposed to come on the 20th of Jan. I was panicking and was so scared did series of home pregnancy test and it came out all negative. I was 11days late. But it later came on the last day of the month on the 31st Jan -4th Feb. sometimes anxiety and hormonal imbalance delays period.

This might help someone here. I took plan b twice in January one pill after my period and another before ovulation. my next period was to come on 14th Feb but never came till 29th of March. Okay just to help other people out- It was probably my fertile window but I don't keep track of my period so I'm not sure. I took the unwanted 72 pill within 24 hours on 13th June. I didn't have any side effects until about a week later (20th June) I had some bleeding. It wasn't exactly spotting but it wasn't a normal period either. I was worried that it could be implantation bleeding but I read that implantation bleeding is usually lighter and not as common as people would think. I guess it was withdrawal bleeding from the pill. It lasted for about 4 days. My period was supposed to start on 28th June but it didn't come. In fact, I completely missed it. I took 3 tests. One on the fourth day of missing period and one a week after missing it. And another one a few days after that. All negative. I didn't have my period the whole month and I was worried sick. But today, on 28th July, I got my period. So basically I missed my period for a whole month and got it right on time the next month. Hope this helps

Hello Ndia, The effect of the pill on your periods can depend on which half of your cycle you took it, how many times you used the EC pill in the last cycle, and whether you are using any other hormone like regular contraception and so on. Did you experience any bleeding after taking the pill in December? To be quite certain, you can ask your doctor for a blood pregnancy test (especially if you have pregnancy symptoms like breast tenderness or nausea). If that is negative, and the period hasn't arrived by the end of January, you should have a chat with your doctor to address any other causes. Best Wishes!

Hi, plan b can delay your period. But theres no way we can tell if its worked till some days after. Usually a pregnancy test 2/3 weeks after you had unprotected sex, will have the answer. Its reasonable to wait a few weeks (if you dont have symptoms), before speaking to your Dr if the periods are still absent. Please try not to worry, meanwhile.

@@JennellBarrett Hi, when you take it before ovulation, the pill will delay ovulation for about 5 days. Then you will ovulate - it doesn't prevent it. But there are some times of your cycle when you have already ovulated - such as just after your period. So your cycle is likely resuming and you will ovulate - but we can't predict when it may happen.

Hello Brenda, If you had sex 4/5 days ago, it’s too early for a pregnancy test. These symptoms could be a side effect of the pill - but if the pain is severe and getting worse please go to the hospital. If they are quite mild, they are likely from the pill but you should watch for your actual period around the usual time. If that period is late by more than 7 days, then do a pregnancy test. I took Aftera, the CVS version of Plan B, within about 4 or 5 hours after a condom filled with semen got stuck deep inside. My partner pulled it out within minutes. Unless you use regular protection or choose the copper coil for an emergency, you will always have this concern. There's no way to know till you do the pregnancy test in a couple of weeks.

Hi Brian, as long as she did not vomit within 2-3 hours of taking the pill it's been absorbed. The tummy ache may be a the pill side effect and should only be mild and short-lived.

By 20 days on a late period, a pregnancy test would indicate if you are or not. That, pregnancy symptoms as well. You can repeat the test after 1 week if its negative. And if it is, yes multiple plan B in one cycle can do this.
