Be encouraged and refreshed with THE WORD OF GOD. Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.Isaiah 41:10 Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8

Jesus asked Peter, "Do you love (agapao) me?" Peter responded with, "I love (phileo) you." Peter wasn't able to sacrifice himself until after he receives the Spirit in Acts3. This is true for all of us.

Since God’s purpose for the world is to save a people for himself and renew the world for that people, his kingly rule implies a saving and a redeeming activity on their behalf. This is why the coming of the kingdom in the New Testament is called good news. Shalom

To add to what he said... You’re ALL so lucky that people like this are in the USA. Why.... NOBODY is doing this in Australia! NOBODY.... we have Churches everywhere of course but there tucked away and put aside for only the most determined who will walk through those doors! I’ve asked my church about this many times and everyone is willing to talk to someone who asks, but it’s extremely rare, and tends to be a hand out flyers thing if they do. I can’t find anyone on KZbin in Oz doing this and I’m only a new Christian myself so I wouldn’t want to give false preaching if I did it!

@MintGreenXwing, yes, you are absolutely right, it's good that Cliffe goes out to the young people in Universities and engages with them about something he passionately believes in. The problem is, for him, those students aren't afraid to challenge the Bible, science has very good answers to many of life's questions. Why would God create a planet that has earthquakes and kills thousands of innocent people including little children and newborn babies?, the Christian answer might be, "well, it's because we are living in a fallen world because of Adam and Eve" , but that still doesn't touch on why innocent little children and babies were killed.. if you were a parent who survived, would you not be asking what your innocent child or baby had to do with the fall of mankind?, but, from a science perspective, we know *exactly* why earthquakes and tsunamis occur, it's because of the planet's shifting tectonic plates, it's simply an unfortunate consequence of a natural phenomenon. The more we learn about our planet, the more we see that it's unlikely a God has anything to do with it.

bonnie43uk So you would believe God exist if everything was perfect? No suffering or innocent people hurt or killed. That would be evidence that God exist to you?
@bonnie43uk
@bonnie43uk 6 жыл бұрын
@ONESTEPAHEAD. Hi Julio, long time no speak. I can't envisage a place of perfection for mankind to be honest, we are so diverse as people, one man's heaven may be another mans hell. It's like asking someone what is their favourite song, or holiday destination or whatever, we all have differing opinions. I am certain that your version of heaven would be entirely different to mine. I would believe God exists if he/she/it made themselves contactable in some way to me. If God desires me to be with him, I'm sure his desire for me to know him, is far stronger than any desire I have. If I'm pushing God away I'm certainly not conscious of doing it. If he exists ( is God a man??), then I want to know about it.
@j2mfp78
@j2mfp78 6 жыл бұрын
bonnie43uk But now you're changing your answer. You said you dont believe in God because of the death and suffering of innocent people. Now your saying because he hasn't shown himself to you. I think you are not open to letting God be who he is. Alot of your reasons seem to be he doesnt fit into what you think he should be. Or do things the way you think they should be done. The only way we can know anything about God is if he reveals himself to us. He did in the person of Jesus Christ. If you want to know anything about God then start with the gospels.
@bonnie43uk
@bonnie43uk 6 жыл бұрын
@Onestepahead. Not at all Julio, my reasons for not believing in a God are many fold, it's not just one particular reason. God, if he exists ( and I cannot be 100% certain of that), he knows me more than I know myself, he knows what it would take for me to believe in him. I'm sure you've asked me what it would take for me to believe in him, I gave you quite a simple answer. If God ever heals a person suffering from severe spina bifida, I will join you in accepting God as my savior. You have my absolute word of honor ( or honour as we spell it in the UK). Given that you believe that God performs millions of miracles around the world everyday, that should be very very easy for God to do.

Unfortunately most everyone I've met who calls themselves an Atheist, do so because they dont see the need, and therefore have no use for God. They cycle through many reasons why they say they dont believe ..but eventually they admit that they are not of a truth quest they are on a happiness quest, dreaming of a world without God. Their Ego refuses to let God sit in what they see, as their seat. As they see it... We all need God now more that ever.

I respectfully disagree, it is not because God gives us no choice to love my neighbor, it is because of my love for my neighbor that I do right by them. We don't have to do it but is innate within a child of God to be love our neighbors!!

It isn't unfortunate Cliffe your father did it honorable thing because he loved and follows Christ it is not unfortunate it's not necessarily something God wished for him to suffer but because we love Christ we will suffer for him the way he suffered for us on the cross that was a way of carrying his cross so obviously it is not a darn shame it was a glorifying thing for God and obviously your father is a better man for it God bless.

Resplendent you still do NOT understand what free speech is about. Free speech means the government can not prosecute you for criticising them. Unless it's a STATE OWNED College, it's private. The pavement in front of your house is public access, but it's not public property.

Quite rightly, Cliffe highlights that racism and segregation ( as used by the local government of Birmingham Alabama at the time he is referring to) was wrong. Why didn't God make this expressly clear in the Bible? Virtually every single black person on that University campus I'm guessing is a direct descendant of a black slave from Africa, those first black slaves suffered incredible degradation and suffering just being tightly shackled on the slave ship, many did not survive the horrendous conditions. Could God not have made it abundantly clear that treating other human beings, regardless of color of skin, or ethnicity is expressly forbidden. The Bible was actually used against the slaves and used to show slave owners dominance over them by reciting passages such as "Slaves obey your masters with fear and respect". I think the Bible would be a far more moral book without that passage. It doesn't do Christians any favors.

1) Why didn’t God make [racism and segregation is wrong] expressly clear in the Bible? a. He did. Samaritan woman at the Well. John’s Gospel 2) Could God not have made it abundantly clear that treating other human beings [poorly], regardless of color of skin, or ethnicity is expressly forbidden. a. He did. Galatians 3:28. ‘There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” 3) I highly suggest you continue read the entirety of Ephesians chapter 6 (at least 6:1-6:9) and then let me know why you think why this doesn’t do Christians any favors. 4) And then please let me know why you think the slave owners in Birmingham obeyed what was written to the Ephesians. (hint: verse 9)

@One Bread Ministries. Hi, thanks for replying to my comment, much appreciated. As far as I can ascertain there is nothing in the story of the woman at the well in Johns Gospel which expressly forbids the ill-treatment of black people. I've read and re-read it, and it says nothing whatsoever about how light skinned people should behave towards dark skinned people. With regard to the Ephesians quote, as I say, this was used by white slave traders and slave owners to show them who was boss and to mis-treat them, you are absolutely correct, if you read on it does indeed talk about "Give up your use of threats". But a couple of things about that, firstly, Ephesians was written long before the white man moved into the East African coastline to capture black people, and these poor captured slaves were often seen as non-human and therefore weren't classed as people as such. And I have to ask, regarding God himself, was he ok with his creation owning other people as property?, to the point whereby these people were chained like animals, did God find that acceptable?. Had God included in his commandments "Thou shalt never chain or enslave thy fellow man, for it is an abomination unto the Lord" do you think this would have been a good addition to Gods list? .. or even "Thou shalt not rape" ? .. that would be very high on my list of commands from God.
@bonnie43uk
@bonnie43uk 6 жыл бұрын
@One bread ministries. Yes indeed, the story of the Samaritan women at the well is a good story. There are many excellent stories in the Bible. But, would you not say that in your country (I'm guessing you are in the USA, I could be wrong), for the past 500 years or more black people in particular have for most of those hundreds of years been treated terribly, not least being shackled and chained like animals. I remember watching the TV series "Roots" in the late 70's and having my eyes opened to the sheer brutality of how white people treated blacks, like I said, they were not even considered human by many white Americans , so if Jesus is saying "Love thy neighbor as thyself", then clearly Jesus was not being anywhere near explicit and clear enough, because if these White slave owners did not view blacks as human, they certainly weren't treating them as neighbors. I'm saying that Jesus *could* have been crystal clear beyond all doubt how mankind should treat mankind, he could have been absolutely 100% incontrovertible and unambiguous in his words. If I can write a statement over a few pages which explains *exactly* how a human being should treat another human being, I'd even go futher and include animals, then I think that the Son of God should/could do even better. You say Jesus forbade any mistreatment of humans. Well Jesus is also God isn't he .. part of the Holy trinity, if you read various passages in the Old Testament, there are loads of incidents of mistreatment of humans ordered by God, on Gods command, the Israelite's butchered and slaughtered entire towns, and then stole their goods and cattle. Even little children and babies were not spared.
