We were thinking about you when this song played, Cliffe, be blessed. Grace Laura Story My heart is so proud My mind is so unfocused I see the things You do through me As great things I have done And now You gently break me Then lovingly You take me And hold me as my father And mold me as my maker I ask you, "How many times will you pick me up When I keep on letting you down?" And each time I will fall short of Your glory How far will forgiveness abound? And You answer, "My child, I love you And as long as you're seeking My face You'll walk in the power of My daily sufficient grace" At times, I may grow weak And feel a bit discouraged Knowing that someone Somewhere could do a better job For who am I to serve You? I know I don't deserve You And that's the part that burns in my heart And keeps me hanging on I ask you, "How many times will you pick me up When I keep on letting you down?" And each time I will fall short of Your glory How far will forgiveness abound? And You answer, "My child, I love you And as long as you're seeking My face You'll walk in the power of My daily sufficient grace" You are so patient with me, Lord As I walk with You, I'm learning What Your grace really means The price that I could never pay Was paid at Calvary So, instead of trying to repay You I'm learning to simply obey You By giving up my life to You For all that You've given to me I ask you, "How many times will you pick me up When I keep on letting you down?" And each time I will fall short of Your glory How far will forgiveness abound? And You answer, "My child, I love you And as long as you're seeking My face You'll walk in the power of My daily sufficient grace"

The Asian guy's got a problem with thinking heaven is earned, but Romans 3:23/6:23 tells EXACTLY what we've all earned. After all, wages are what you've earned, and "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God," and "the wages of sin is death." All of us DESERVE and have EARNED hell. With regards to what each of us earned, all of us are no worse off than Abraham or King David, or any of the twelve apostles, and no better off than Hitler or Stalin or Saddam Hussein of Jeffrey Dahmer. And that's where Jesus comes into the picture. The punishment we've justly earned and deserve was put upon Him, so that those who believe on Him, and put their faith in Him and His resurrection, and are baptized into His name will inherit eternity - NOT because our "good" deeds, but because of His once-for-all righteous act of dying in our place. We just have to accept that terrible price for our sins has been paid.

I understand the point of the first guy talking and I think he poses a good question. Pharisees during the time of the first coming also believed they understood scripture the way God intended, except they were all leaning on their own understanding. We Christians are different because we have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us to correct us in our understanding of the word of God. (John 14:26) Otherwise we would not understand the things of God, let alone do His will.
@salfred82522 ай бұрын
But read the old testament, it is packed full of God's guidance for the realisation of His will. The Pharisees were acting in their own strength, but not because they didn't have guidance or understanding. They chose to do so. Take for example, the last chapter in Hosea where God explicitly tells Israel His will for them and what they must do to realise His will. The Pharisees had access to all these scriptures. At the crux of it all, His will has never changed.

6:54 Cliffe asks "when is the abuse of an innocent child ever god's will?" the answer is found in 1 Samuel 15:3: "Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys." I know Cliffe says this is hyperbole, and I agree. clearly not all amalekites were killed, but this doesn't address the central issue: israelite warriors were commanded by god to abuse innocent children. the hyperbole defense is like saying "it's ok, only some babies died, not all of them"

Underneath a tone of curiosity, there’s some really strong arrogance to that claim itself. As Cliffe explained well, Jesus and apostles consider the word of God as eternal, so apart from specific ceremonial laws, I’ll lean on Christ’s claim on the matter. God bless

Man is the Spiritual Symbol of Spirit, or REALITY/IMMORTALITY.... Woman is the Spiritual Symbol of Matter, or SENSE REALITY/MORTALITY.... Spiritual Letters must be Spiritually Discerned, as the Literal Interpretation serves no purpose. God/Spirit is Consciousness/Infinite Mind, and God is All. Nothing or no one exists in relative position to God. In order to exist at all, one must exist as God Consciousness. In order to be Conscious, one must be Conscious of God Consciousness for there is no other. God can have no Awareness of a Separation between that which he is and that which he knows because the Consciousness of knowing is the Consciousness of being. You are God Consciousness expressed, Individualized; and You perceive as that Consciousness and no other. As God Consciousness Identified, you can perceive in no other way than the way God perceives. If you exist at all, and you do, You must exist as God knowing, God being, God existing. Otherwise there would be no You. Actually, you know as God knows, You see as God sees, You act as God being Active, and You are Conscious as God being Conscious. You perceive yourself to be the Substance, Form, and Activity of all that is included in your perception because Your perception is God perceiving, Your Consciousness is God being Conscious. Your very being is God being You! Peace Be Unto You

Im not sure if anyone will read this, but I've had a question about a part in the story of Noah. Genesis 7:20 says, "Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered." My question is, if a single cubit is the length between your elbow and middle finger, how on earth does 15 of those cover a mountain? It's been something I can't shake off my mind because I want to see the bible as factual and reliable, not something that has me questioning stuff like this. Also, Im sure this will be answered later in the bible (as I've just started reading) but how did Noah and the generations before him live to be 300-900 years old?
@victorparkinson33162 ай бұрын
I can answer your second question because I'm not sure about the length calculations from the Bible you are reading. Please research that. Before the flood people lived over 300yrs. I don't know why God allowed that, but I could say one reason he allowed that was because of a man named Methuselah. He lived over 950yrs. He was the father of the faithful Enoch whom God took to heaven. The lesson here is if you are faithful to God and your generation will be blessed and they too will be faithful to God and he will continue to bless your generations

Question: "What in the Bible is metaphorical and what in the Bible is absolute truth?" Answer: How are those exclusive? There is a difference between being “true” and “literally true”. Figurative language can be true. When Jesus says, “I am the door” or “I am the light of the world”, he is clearly speaking figuratively, but he is also speaking the truth. New Testament authors do use “figures” of speech like simile, metaphor, parable, etc. It is false to say that if something is not literally true, it’s not true. Also, the word “literally” comes from “literal”, the first definition of which in Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary is “according with the letter of the scriptures” but can also mean “free from exaggeration or embellishment” or “reproduced word for word”. So if Jesus actually said, “I am the door”, one would be correct in saying that Jesus literally said that. So I would urge people to be careful when using the question, “Do you believe everything in the Bible is literally true.”

Image if the first guy read that passage when Jesus says "if your eye makes you sin, then rip it off". I agree we must read using logic or common sense, if you will, to get the message correctly.

I was thinking about that person’s question. I think he meant “literal” not “true”.
