I'm a secret tongue speaker. I experienced inexplicable things in my life that I may conclude only came from God. I do not care what my Christian brothers and sisters may say about my secret prayer life. It is my relationship between me and my God. Moreover, I love investigating the bible, care about legal interpretation, study apologetics. My secret tongue boosts the passion. Thank you Dr Brown.

I have been praying for tongues for a long time, but alas, the Lord has not given me this gift. I will remain a soft continuationist irregardless of receiving this gift or not. All his gifts for his glory, for the building up of his church.

In 1968 I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost in a house of a believer with the evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gave the utterance.. I was very anti Pentecostal before that time. I then in 2 weeks went down in the water baptism and was baptised in Jesus name as the Apostles taught in the book of acts. The water baptism ,I buried the old man and came up a new creation, I'm so glad in his mercy that he called me to be his. To God be the glory.

When I was water baptized some years ago, I began yearning for the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking 🗣️🗣️🗣️ in other tongues. It didn't manifest immediately but I speaking in tongues in my dreams. Then I went for a prayer meeting and when I opened my mouth in faith, God filled me with the gift. I have been speaking in tongues since 2011. Tongues speaking is a common phenomenon in Ghana so we don't shy away from it. I began praying for young people to receive the gift in 2016 and many have received the gift through me.

3.5 years ago I got saved. In this new age of social media it’s confusing to see everyone have a different interpretation of tongues and other doctrine. I spoke in tongues on twice alone but it was too powerful to hold back. I even prayed for God to remove the urge if it was not from Him. But it just came out like a river of water.

Around 2019 I started in my sleep. I'm Southern Baptist. My husband told me I spoke another language. Not mumbling. I then had a vision and several dreams. This is one of them: Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib was giving what looked like a White House Press Briefing. Reporters filled the room. She stepped to the podium and was about to speak, but before she could speak she noticed something in her mouth. She reached into her mouth and pulled out her canine tooth. She looked shocked. She regained her composure and again attempted to start her speech. Again she noticed something in her mouth. She reached into her mouth and pulled out her tongue and held it up to look at it. This time her shock was so great she froze like a statue. Her skin cracked and peeled off revealing a goat head demon standing at the podium. Then I saw a big piece of rock or ledge fall into the ocean near Africa. It created a wave that crossed the Atlantic to America. A tongue of that wave entered the press briefing room, went down the aisle without disturbing anything else. It lapped up Rashida and took her back out the door and out to sea with all the reporters watching.

If Paul was the last Apostle, Why is he writing about spiritual gifts encouraging people to desire them if they were only for the 11 + 1 Apostles? Why would the Spirit inspire him to write things that no longer apply to people after Paul? Sincere question to Cessationists. I'm really trying to understand this debate and want to hear from all sides. Thank You

We should certainly be active in denouncing (and disproving) Cessationism, but I think the challenge you are throwing out would be better widened out as, 'If you believe in and have experienced any of the supernatural gifts of the Spirit, come out of the closet' To limit the challenge to speaking in tongues raises problems when we consider implied negative answer to Paul's question: 'Do all speak in tongues?'

I think the reason Jesus wanted his followers to remain in Jerusalem and wait for the Spirit is because they naturally would be staying in one place - otherwise, back in Galilee, they would have went to their own homes and been separated. There's something about the outpouring of the Spirit and being with other believers that seems to happen over and over again.... Something about unity and forming a "body."

Excellent point. The Spirit is given to all of us, and can only be said to be present in fullness in the Church as a whole. In each of us, as members in particular, the Holy Spirit is "as a treasure in an earthen vessel, that the excellency of the power may be of God and not us."

It is awesome to desire to stay true to Gods word! Including the gift of tongues! We must listen to the word of God and not our emotions or traditions. “Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭14‬:‭5‬ ‭ESV‬‬ “So, my brothers, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. But all things should be done decently and in order.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭14‬:‭39‬-‭40‬ ‭ESV‬‬ “Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But earnestly desire the higher gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭27‬-‭31‬ ‭ESV‬‬ “And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭ESV‬‬ “Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual. The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2‬:‭12‬-‭16‬ ‭ESV‬‬ God bless you sir! I encourage a deep study of 1 Corinthians and consider it fully. Whether we can understand something with the natural mind is not what makes it of God. Some things will only be spiritually discerned and you will never understand it outside of faith and trust just in what Gods word says. This is hard, but I guarantee it will take your relationship with God to a greater level of intimacy and faith with Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

I went to an Assemblies of God church as a new Christian and was “baptized in the Holy Spirit”. I don’t think I ever believed that it was a real thing for me although I do know people who think it is real for them. And I take seriously the verse that warn us not to forbid speaking in tongues (1Cor14:39). That being said, what I see is the churches who are Charismatic are the ones that drift into the NAR churches because they want “more of God” and seek after signs and wonders.

Years back I would have these dreams of a language flowing like water out of my mouth, I’m a dreamer of dreams so I’ve always had vivid prophetic dreams from God, but this was different, anyway as years went by I would every once in awhile have these speaking in tongues dreams, I’m asleep but I’m fully aware and I could hear myself clearly, one time as I was speaking in tongues I could see golden letters drifting up from my mouth and into heaven, another time it was a prophetic dream of all the nations of the earth gathered with flag bearers standing on a white wall, then a man with a white flag with red on it ran up and stood on the wall as he did a voice from behind me said raise “the God flag higher” as he did the crowd roared and chanted something I couldn’t make out, as this happened I went into the Spirit and started proclaiming something very forcefully in tongues, another time I spoke in what sounded like a native language, then and Asian language, then Hebrew I think, then an angelic language. At one point I wanted to know if it was real, so I asked God if it could be verified, so one night was speaking in an Angelic language pretty loudly, I asked my wife in the morning if she heard me, she said yes! That she could hear me and that a feeling of peace and a low glowing light was lighting up the room! Thank you Jesus! So beautiful! So powerful!

If God already understands us in all of our native speaking languages both outwardly & indirectly through prayer because ultimately he is the one & Author who created every spoken language since the beginning of time then what is the point of using tongues for today?! It doesn’t make you a better Christian for one because you have the gift. It doesn’t confirm that you have the Holy Spirit in you because it’s a “gift” that the Holy Spirit gives to whoever he Wills. Today this topic creates so much turmoil & division in the body of Christ that it ultimately shouldn’t even be our main focus honestly. We should be winning souls to Christ. I believe it’s another distraction to what really matters to God is our Hearts.

If no one ever speaks in tongues no one will ever interpret them there would be no point for the gift to ever be used. You can make it known that you (if you do) have that gift then as a group just pray and ask the Lord to give someone the gift of interpretation. Don't be the one who in fear buried his gift in the dirt be the one who boldly stewarded the gift his master gave him. Investments are always a risk he's not gonna give you a gift and not give you someone else to interpret it if everyone steps out and faith and pursues living out the fullness of scripture. From my experience the Lord is very eager to give the gift of interpretation if we just ask for it together with other brothers and sisters.

Not all spoken unknown tongues are for interpretation to others All tongues can be interpreted but may not be a message to others, but a conversation between God and the speaker only Too much confusion has been sown over the topic by "people who do not understand", and because of a lack of understanding they fight against a crucial gift of The Spirit You can pray in tongues outloud, it does not mean that message has to be interpreted "unless it's for others"

@@SharpSapphire Every believer has some measure of the Holy Spirit, a "token in earnest" of the Spirit, as the King James puts it, the "downpayment" as other translations have it. None of us have the Spirit "without measure" (in fullness) as Jesus did. TOGETHER, as one body, his body, his bride, we may be said to have the fullness of the Spirit, who is the third person of the Godhead. But it's a good question, because it's easy to confuse: 1. anointing 2. the gift of the Holy Spirit, or "holy spirit" and 3. The Holy Spirit IMO, anointing is overused and not very clear. John uses this term in 1 John, and that's the only place we find it in scripture. I assume it's the same idea as Paul's "Christ in you, the hope of glory," as Christ means anointed one. And it's the same idea as Peter's saying we are "partakers of the divine nature." I could be wrong. In my opinion, James White is well gifted in the word of wisdom. His textual work is top notch and his defense of scriptural reliability is devil defying.

@duncescotus2342
@duncescotus2342 Жыл бұрын
@@SharpSapphire He IS saved "according to scripture." The Parhamist doctrine (which is taught by tradition Pentecostal groups, that tongues are "the evidence" of the baptism of the Holy Spirit) is wrong. The evidences of the Holy Spirit are many: 1. one's confession: "No one can say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit." 2. one's boldness: "And they spoke the word of God with boldness." (Acts 4:31) Note that in Acts 2, when the apostle speak in other tongues, they do NOT preach the Gospel. The Jews gathered in Jerusalem for the feast say "...we hear them praising the works of God." 3. the fruit of the Spirit, Galatians 5, nine of them mentioned 4. the gifts of the Spirit, or "spirituals' mentioned in 1st Corinthians 12, also 9 in number, of which only one is "speaking in tongues" and another "the interpretation of tongues." 5. And one's good works "which he prepared beforehand that we might walk in them" are evidence of salvation and the indwelling Holy Spirit. Furthermore, the "new birth" is possibly different from being "filled with the Spirit" as we see in Acts 19. (Paul) "asked them, 'Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?' and they replied, 'No, we haven't even heard of the Holy Spirit.'" (v. 2) So, it's possible to believe and so be "saved," but be unaware of the filling of the Holy Spirit and the gifts of power. Unfortunately, this is because of false "Cessationist" doctrine, and here brother White is guilty. So, we need to pray for him.
