Nah, Jeff does it because he enjoys it. Most teachers do it for the pay cheque. I would recommend subscribing to "Dan Hurd" if you want to learn more about the panning side and sluicing. He is a teacher but like Jeff he is a hardcore gold enthusiast. He also records his class room lessons so if you want to learn gold in a class room he has that experience. Also there is "Gold Hog" but that's all about sluicing but good information. Good Luck :)

bilbo bagginses - Depends where you live i guess. Like here it's not hard for a teacher to break 80k to 100k AUD a year, but in USA salaries can drop to half of that for the same job. Hence my original comment :)

bilbo bagginses I didn't realise the AUD to USD had changed so much. 30k USD is only 37k AUD. A student teacher / primary teacher on average earns almost 50k USD the same as Canada. Get a working Visa and come visit or head north :)

thanks Jeff for replying to my request for close up pictures of the rock samples. i suggest a montage of pictures with links to blow up close up pictures and labels for each one. maybe add a small description saying this rock sometimes contains gold? or this rock is associated with gold, but usually doesn't contain gold? keep up the good work! oh, if i ever win a detector; then i'd pay an extra $100 to get a minelab monster 1000 just to try it out.

sounds great! i'm hoping that some of the rocks in the SW occur in northern Idaho. mostly around here we have argillite, a little quartz, almost no magnetite, lots of galena, some iron pyrite, some antimony, silver, zinc, some other sulfides, some tungsten minerals, and there was at least two manganese mines, but i haven't found any. the easy gold was mined long ago, but there is still some left...not like CA or AK. too much trash for easy metal detecting, but some people find gold.

Jeff, this is one of your best videos. And I am in full agreement with Megzamani about the use of a drone. It would have helped tie a lot of it together to see the surface color changes, veins, shafts and so forth from the air. Placer deposits are the result of Lode Gold breaking off from the Host rock or vein material from errosion and ground movement and then over time finding its way to a wash , Hill side or stream

I’m located in Southern California, not far from east fork in Azusa and I am a new member of the GPAA and have been watching your channel for some time. What do you think?
