On the Destiny 1 front, on Xbox actually I ran into issues with 'not having xbox gold subscription' so even though I had all the expansions, I was unable to play MOST of the content because they are locked behind Xbox Gold subscription only (now called xbox gamepass?). So kinda sorta still a liveservice BS at least from Xbox. at $10 bucks a month it might not sound like much, but since I stopped playing games on xbox, I canceleld because it wasnt worth it to me anymore. Quite sad, because I did really love Destiny 1

Finally decided to check out borderlands 3 this week and now I don't want to play Destiny. Finding badass guns and feeling super powerful in borderlands is the feeling I was chasing in Destiny and not getting. Already paid for the year so I'm gonna still play the story but it's just so unappealing now.

The best way to enjoy Destiny imo is 1. Come back in spurts (a few months maybe once or twice a year) 2. Grind for a few meta builds/weapons for you most enjoyed class (for me it’s warlock and I have good enough builds for gms and raids) 3. Do not pay attention to fomo. There is WAAAAAYY to many things to grind for at this point. Focus on just a few things. I still use my crafted Posterity hand cannon with voltshot and frenzy. Now there are better options but it is still good enough to do anything (most things that are better might save you a few seconds in a kill and that’s it). Once you get bored after trying to get in a few times, say goodbye for half a year.

It's because games are a distraction. That's all they ever will be. They aren't tricking you. You decided gaming was more entertaining than creating a family, getting in shape, repairing relationships. You haven't cracked the code... You just grew up. Now you need something bigger to entertain you. Also this "I'm drained of this game, so it must be bad" is so toxic. Other people in life say the SAME thing about anything you do. Whether it be your profession or lifestyle. The trick is to be content or strive to discover. You can't expect both at the same time. At the end of the day we all meet in the ground. So why are we complaining, if we all have the same destination?

And Bungie used to sell some of the cosmetics for BRIGHT DUST. In the Eververse Store. I used to be able to save up Bright Dust and actually be able to buy the event skins (like early Solstice glows) but now almost all of the 'cool' event cosmetics are all Silver (real money) purchases only. The 'Bright Dust' menu is a tiny smatter of random cosmetic slots, which you just have to pray release the ones you want. Then they only sell ONE slot of the current seasonal cosmetic per week, only increasing the fomo, even if you already had bright dust saved up. It's gotten worse and worse over time.

Me too! It's so fun the way the statuses and powers and weaknesses of each build, each weapon, armor, the gameplay is also very fun. I usually play from my sofa for an hour or two and feel very satisfied. However, I'm not in favor of resetting, it's frustrating to have your level "reset" in relation to enemies in PVE every time.

Everyone talks about burnout from D2 but there's a core community that just never leaves no matter how much they threaten it in anger or pretend to have reached their breaking point. They talk about how the devs deserve better but they keep making sure that nothing ever changes because they just keep paying and playing which is what the Bungie execs want. They're hopelessly and helplessly addicted, like drug addicts. Content creators feel like they need D2 to stay relevant and so they will never leave, and core players are addicted and feel the sunk cost fallacy so they'll never leave, and Bungie will never change because of that fact. I played D2 from day 1 and stuck with it all the way until The Final Shape. I had every exotic, every catalyst finished, every adept weapon, every weapon pattern completed, etc. I soled GM's, soloed dungeons, had tons of completions on every raid, tons of flawlesses, etc. I stopped playing after I finished the campaign for Final Shape and after I ran the raid a few times. I was burnt out, but more than that I was let down with how Bungie would take the tiniest changes and things they reverted to old systems and pretended like they were grand innovations. After what happened with the layoffs I was convinced that Bungie wouldn't change for the better, but instead, only for the worse. I was tired of new thing coming out OP to create FOMO and old things nerfed into oblivion. I was tired of sandbox changes going round and round in circles; it was getting to the point where I actually predicted which weapons would be the next meta before the changes even happened because we had seen how they ran things for so long that they became predictable. I was tired of being promised changes in season structure only for them to use the same systems under a different name and everyone talked about how good it was. I was tired of nothing changing and everyone making excuses for it after their hollow threats of leaving never panned out. I was wanting to leave even beforehand and was mentally checked out before Final Shape but I wanted my ending. After I got my ending, I stopped playing D2 and started putting my time into other things and I honestly don't miss it. I haven't even thought about coming back to D2. I don't even watch videos or streams about D2 anymore; I only clicked on this one because of the title. Just let go, it's that simple. Maybe if enough people do that then there might be change some day, but as long as people don't let go then the game will always suffer the same problems over and over again forever.

All devs follow the META in live service games until they start realizing that it isnt working. Its got a short shelf life and Fortnite is probably one of the few that have a big enough install base that they can get away with messing up here and there. All these games being monetized to death have taken out the game part of the game itself. They all might as well be "Open Wallet Simulators". That is why so many of us are reverting to single player games. Entire packaged games with nothing else to buy, no subs, no micros, everything earnable in game and a complete experience.

One of the greatest things about Destiny 1 was that all the content was there, no matter when you started playing. You didn't have to feel like the heel because you didn't get that 1 gun that everyone uses because you couldn't or didn't play at that point. I guess it's a bit different now since there's no trials or IB, but I started playing Destiny 1 In Oct 2016 and did it all and had tons of fun by the time D2 came out. I recently bought LotR: Shadow of War on a sale, as I wanted to try a single-player game, that wouldn't stress me out so much. Haven't gotten around to play it yet, as I constantly feel the urge to log in and do daily missions and help clanmates in Diablo: Imm. Even one of my all-time favorite games - RUST has elements of the issues described: seasonal events, payable skins that gives you an advantage - although that game is nowhere as predatory as Diablo: Immortal, it still has that slow creep.

I wish festival of the Halloween(D2) was aa fun activity that was unlike from the start I would not care if they didn't change the activity as long as it's a fun and I could play it like 5 times and not be bored. But what we got is a lost sector with clowns(headless ones) that drop candy. Again it could be the same activity for like 10yrs no changes but as long as it's fun All they would really have to do is give the guns update at most. But the main focus is the activity being fun. If it was fun I would literally be interested in playing and inviting friends for it. But we got the look the gl is nice perks and look shader

I’ve missed the last 2 raid races and the dungeon race and nothing feels worse than knowing that if I had the time I could have done it but it doesn’t matter now. Destiny has been the biggest game outside of Halo in my life and I think the game play and that feeling of life through the game is only thing holding me to this game.

I want you players to do these three things 1) go into your vault pick weapons out that have no kills and put the weapons you have kills with in the vault and play with guns you haven’t played with yet put the crappy none dps supers on and play with them till you have fun then switch it up again. 2) stop grinding for loot from raids or gm and play the older activities like whisper zero campaign activitys the kind that was a one and done… 3) find crappy players/blueberries and make them a player you play with and then complete stuff with em

I’ve been moving away from the daily - weekly login to Destiny and been focusing on playing single player games either new or old ones I’ve missed out on. I haven’t had this much appreciation & fun with games in a long ass time. That’s not to say I don’t play Destiny, I do, but I only jump in for the story and to max out season rank. Once I hit 100/150/200 and have done all the story I put it down until next season or expansions. When expansions drop tho I do play it quite a lot the first month or two. The magic of Destiny has also begun to kinda dissipate. Loot hasn’t been interesting for years. New exotics are rarely worth it. If the grind for loot doesn’t entice you anymore, what is there to do? Sure I can play with friends for the fun of it, but a part of that fun is to chase loot and with that being more or less gone, a big part of wanting to play Destiny 2 is just missing. Maybe the future can bring back wanting to chase new loot and be active with the game again. Armor 3.0 does sounds interesting. There isn’t any game like Destiny so I won’t ever stop playing it. It feels extremely good, and it is a lot of fun and has created some of my best gaming moments I’ve ever had.

I literally just play destiny when I feel like there’s something that I have fun doing. I don’t enjoy the grind as much as I once did. When my 2 best friends hop on I’m always there because that’s more fun than the grind for whatever god roll is current. I’ve made a big shift to single player games in the last year. Hogwarts Legacy, Black Myth Wukong, and Ghost of Tsushima have been my most played games in the last year. So I 100% get what he’s saying.

I’ve been leaning away from D2 when it started feeling like I had to work to hit all the marks. Now I’m playing the Division 2 single player campaign, just reach Warlords after 6 months, and there’s about 7-9 manhunts after the dlc story, and then the secret bosses/enemies to go after and then I’ll be done 😅. I’m pretty sure I’ll be off D2 by the end of next year with all of the single player campaign games to play in my collective DRM library.

it's interesting that you mentioned gambling in the video because that addiction is sparked similar to how they do the models in the live service games. When you go to a casino for the first time, at all the ones I've visited- They give you like $20-50 cash in play credits. You can choose to only spend that amount and be done, or keep spinning the wheel hoping to get those free spin payout rewards. Same thing with Destiny 2. They give you the seasonal model. You can get the artifact for free and get those free rewards after just a little time, or you can pay to expedite the process. So at the very least there are visible and tangible guaranteed rewards for -gambling- gaming. But the hopes of doing those seasonal activities after the paywall is where the jackpot is. Whatever that god roll is, you'll try and try, spin and spin, and chances are you won't get it. One month is spin to win a free Corvette. Next month, a KR F-350, but only after they get their money back+. One month, the most OP weapon in the game. Next month the most OP weapon in the game- only after they nerfed the previous one into oblivion. Both rigged, designed to sucker in people. When the game went F2P I played the first few seasons because they were free, and didn't really care for it. STOPPED. Came back towards the end of Lightfall (What a disappointment), played for a little bit and waited for TFS. Played Season of Echoes and Didn't even get to 100 before I dipped. The constant grind and catch-up period was too much and I hit burnout hard. So yeah, I believe my time on D2 is probably over for good. Felt more like a Community Service and an obligation than a game. I still love the lore and keep up with others who can still play this trash concept but I can't anymore. Money is the root of all evil, capitalization (lol) sucks.

Also i agree with almost everything but the falling behind thing in destiny i dont agree with i had quit playing destiny for over 2 years, came back and it took me like 3 to 2 weeks to catch back up so i dont agree, there are so many great content creators on this game its not hard to figure anything out and people are quite helpfull destiny isnt about having the new shiny thing for me! But just having fun and ofc the grind 😅😅

The problem is.....I WANT a world that I feel I am a part of and that others are there with me too. For the most part I get that with D2, but the big thing that I think D2 and others are especially missing, is the social hub and chatting that I loved back in the old MMO days. I love scifi and miss the old feeling of Anarchy Online, Star Wars Galaxies, truly making friends in the middle of a dungeon. Anyone make friends from killing mobs in the pyramid or the sewer below the Omni area? Giving us a REAL social experience with D2 is what they need to do and I'd be happy LOL

The most annoying thing about Destiny2 is that you work hard to level up and play more easily in PVE and after the reset you have to do it all over again... there is little time between leveling up and the reset to take advantage of this higher level.😢

Excellent point on the weapons. Particularly exotics. I main year one exotics. They far outperform any recent exotics. It seems Bungie is running out of ideas for exotics in the last few years. They are very situational where the exact conditions need to occur to use the benefit of the exotic. Put a Sunshot or Graviton Lance in your hands. Just aim, shoot and clear an entire room of adds. That's it. Simple. These weapons came out 7 years ago. Don't waste your time grinding for anything new.

Something that bothers me about the season pass is that you pay for the pass, but if you aren't able to finish it that season, too bad, you won't be getting the season pass items you paid for. I think it would be more worth my money if those remaining items were unlocked at the end of the pass. This way it's a win win situation. We still have to grind and stay in the game, and we still get the items we've already paid for.

I have said it for years, the seasonal model that Destiny has had for so long is a great way to burn out your players. This is partly why I will always champion one big release of a HUGE full expansion feast for players to play, finish, then take a break from. Because constantly shoveling food to your players is going to make it feel like a chore to eat. From a design perspective, is it satisfying to the player experience if their work is constantly getting shuffled? No not at all. If you want your players do feel like their time is respected, quit shoving endless amounts of stuff at them all year long. Give them their big feast that they can take their time on, really enjoy, and feel satisfied finishing, eager and ready for the next big feast later on. It’s crazy to see so many live services disrespect the players time in this way.

There are some cosmetics in the game that cost as much as a triple A game (the bundles). "But that's just a skin or something, it's optional, it's not pay to win." Maybe that's true with a skin, this is just an example of the price point in this game. I'm sure many of you have seen the Aztecross video where there's talk of how there IS pay to win implemented by being able to access upgrade materials and currency etc with real money... The season pass being "buyable" is obscene. They are so unbelievably greedy. I haven't bought a single skin on the game because they're extortionate. If they sold them for the value they actually are, I'd probably have spent the amount of a triple A game on them because I'd have more than a ghost, sparrow and emote for $60...

Lately I've been forcing myself to play because I'm not enjoying running the same GM I've ran 1000x or the same Dungeon I've run hundreds of times for the same crapola just with different perks. Why do we play? Addiction its addiction straight out to which I will break once I've played through what I paid for. Remove game from library then block all D2 utube channels, gotta break it. Destiny will be my last live service game, anything live service I wont even try.

Sbmm is supposed to keep you from getting hammered when you are low skilled. I think there is actually not enough of it. Problem is that thr amount of people playing limited so thr brackets cant be "peoole of yiur same skill". Capitlism aint thr issue. Since games were made, it has always been a capitalist endevour. Problem I experience is how thry waste all your efforts by nerfing a weapokn and skill thry just introduce, so you can start from zero grinding again. And they know yiu want to get better so they put minimal effort xontent out there to waste your time getting vack to your original level. At least bring good content for us to waste our time with. However here is where real greed comes in. They want to put almost nothing in exchange for huge amounts of our time. Theyre fsrming us. Single olayer games have sn uprfont commitment. With a start and an end. I pay for my gsmes these days. Nothing is free. In fact i eould rsther oay momey for pay to win than waste my time.

Gaming was beneficial for me before my favorites games turn into live service with time consuming mechanic. This is not only the fault of gaming. For me I tried to escape my suffery in real life. My favorites are Destiny, world of tanks console and GTA. All are now very time consuming and pay to win. GTA V: They have increase the cost of almost all items and this have increase the time I play. In World of Tanks: I easly wasted 3 000 $ on tanks when they started to add a lot of very fun and powerfull premium tanks. Limited time events, season pass and toxic players have encourage me to play more. I wanted to become better to stop receiving bad messages. Words have hurt my self-confidence. Destiny: I was playing Destiny 1 for fun, the campain and friends. Now I can not do raids, because there not enough players at my skill level and time -days I play. No crossplay and no PC port for more players. In D2 when they have put the story in season pass it became an obsession. I have paid for the content, so I need to get the loot before they remove them from the game. I lost 10 years of my life playing this three games. Maybe more games have affected me, but it's hard to remember.

I'd say the problem isn't capitalism, it's corporatism. We've had the same systems in places for a very long time but it wasn't until corporations started paying attention to how lucrative gaming is that we started having problems like this. Look at Bungie especially: they blew up with Halo CE with a development team of 45 people that just wanted to make a good game that they would want to play and it grew to be one of the most recognizable franchises of all time up there with Star Wars. But as the years went on and as the success of gaming was more prominent, corporations forced their ways into these avenues for revenue and it's made them a killing, not to make good games, but by hiring psychologists to make their games as addicting as possible to force us onto hamster wheels while they churn out the same slop we've been getting for years. And no studio encapsulates this better than Bungie itself, they even removed their slogan "We make games we want to play" and replaced it with a corporate sanitized "We create worlds that inspire friendship". Some bullshit man
@JustSway
@JustSway 3 күн бұрын
I skimmed through that. Corporatism makes things fail, not capitalism. I'll agree. Palword doesn't have in-game purchases and it made a lot of sales and Fortnite has a bunch of in-game purchases but the fan base accepts it (I think, I don't keep up with that game) and makes billions. Destiny 2... when I look at an in-game purchase I feel depressed. If they want to make success and profit they have to provide for the gamers and what they want.

Something I hate about live service/mmos is having to know an encounter before I play. In single player games, I enjoy fighting a new enemy and learning how it fights. Whether I beat it first try or several. In other games, you have to know the fight before you even load into it. Even though it's still a challenge, it quickly makes new fights seems more tedious that fun. I shouldnt lose enjoyment from a game. Also the catchup stuff is lame. I play ff14 along with destiny, and they both have this problem. FF14 I need to either craft gear which takes a long time, or grind gear that that time gate so im forced to play for several weeks to get good gear on ONE job (AKA class). And both gameplay loops isnt enjoyable when you already done them. In destiny they try to help with catchup, but they always leave meta stuff for the grind. They can give you a full set of gear at lvl, only to see it has bad stats. Even when you get a new exotic, you have to grind out the catalyst to make them good. I sucks when you like these games, but see so much bad that I havent seen in a single player game.

My whole thing with games like Destiny and such was never wanting to be better or grind for some God roll. I just want to have fun with friends or by myself if they aren't on. Games these days are becoming far too competitive. Going for 100%, getting the God roll, doing a hard activity solo. None of those are fun to me unless the game itself is fun as well.

About 2 years ago I finally got fed up having my weapons sunset or all the weapons I grinded for become weaker over time. Broadsword 🙄 Never got over that haha. I logged on about 6 months ago just to give it a try, I didn't last a week before it felt the same. Glad I stepped away.

I've been a big Asmon fan for years now and I'm not going to pretend that a lot of what he says isn't true, but as far as D2 is concerned, people have no idea what they even want D2 to be. Wasn't it not that long ago that people were complaining that D2 needed more loot to chase? Bungie damn near overhauls the game with all kinds of guns and now people want to complain about that too? They couldn't sunset weapons because people wanted to keep all the guns they don't use, now they can't make new guns because chasing loot in a looter shooter is bad too? 1:51 I was always under the impression this was a good thing. Now it's not? At the end of the day D2 is a looter shooter and people in this community need to accept it. You don't play an RPG and complain about the focus on story. You don't play a fighting game and complain that you have to punch and kick people. Why do people play this looter shooter and complain that it does looter shooter things? I've said this for years but people specifically in this community are never fucking happy and bitch about things for the sake of bitching.
