Also there's no recovery, it's got invisible walls that will prevent you from grabbing anything until you hit ground floor. It was nice that you could recover for the most part of the game and I thought it's what the game was teaching but no. It locks you in from any recovery.

Watching Asmon play Alt F4 was one of my favorite things he's done, so I was excited when I became aware of this game, as it kind of scratches that same itch. It's not been the same at all. Alt F4, he was trying [succesfully] to entertain. Here it seems like it's entirely out of obligation, but he's making no effort to make it enjoyable. Some folks might enjoy the spectacle of him being plainly miserable, but... it hasn't been for me. And it's obviously not for him. I hope some sadist out there is having a good time. 😅

Also yea, this is basically every developer's first game nowadays. Super easy to make some movement mechanics, then just place a bunch of stuff, add a trigger for the end, then release. These kinda games are usually the "prototype" for a bigger concept. Devs are just capitalizing on the game genre now. Just wait for someone to take it to a VERY high quality game. Three of these games I disagree with and one that I somewhat disagree with. With Valorant and CSGO you only lose some points in their ranked mode it's not a heavy time loss unless going on streaks of loss streaks which is not comparable to this game since you would have to make a lot more mistakes in comparison to one mistake in Only Up. Vampire survivors is a rogue like so different attempts are varied in what items you get making each playthrough feel at least somewhat unique so the progression loss has a silver lining besides learning (plus the gameplay is just funner in general compared to a climbing game). Somewhat disagree with minecraft hardcore since you would also need to make more mistakes to lose a lot of progress than in Only Up along with there being ways to mitigate the chance of loss through potions, armor, enchantments, totems, etc (unless you fall which still has counterplay through water buckets or enderpearls)
