GW has a good implementation over it, they allow you to recolor some parts of the armor (usually core parts) So you won't be able to color particles for example (which can still be used to differentiate from the difficulties earned that armor piece) So let's say you have a fire themed armor that has some flames here and there, the flame color will be unchangeable by the player. (Or some metal spikes or whatever the hell armors are made of today) but you can change the core leathery/cloth/plate of it 1-2-3 colorable elements on a piece of armor Sure you can look like a clown by wearing it but you can still get some kick-ass colors (Also GW2 approach on buying, creating and trading dyes is amazing too, it's a solid market in GW2 and blizzard can even monetise some really cool dyes)

Seems like the easiest way I can think of to solve the problem is just have a store with all the item drops in the raid purchasable for tokens as well as the rng drops that way if you don't get the item you wanted after 20+ runs you can just buy it in some kind of store, maybe even have it so the tokens you get are like 3-5 per boss kill if they really want rng

They could just add gems or enchants which do set bonus actions. That would save them the issue on class sets with raid tier visuals being a issue. And if the set bonus isn't good, then you would use pure stat gems/enchants.

The only sharding Classic needs involves enchanting. If server pops begin to dwindle - which they likely will at some points - start merging servers like SWTOR had to do. It fixed the low pop issues easily. If they bring server sharding into Classic IN ANY FORM, it'll have negative effects on the community feel.

Asmongolds comment about the plot developments for Sylvanas, fit exactly with some pretty standard writing formulas that blizzard is known for using, so wouldn't be surprised if it ends up that way...they have some other direction they could go, and could make it more complex, and a bit more deep....but I also think they will tie it into Thralls return...or at least the possibility is very high.

Sounds like Ian contradicts himself with the second question involving Azerite gear and the RNG question. He says that you can run raids in the old days and never get a piece of loot, but in the response to the 2nd question he makes the same scenario for Azerite headpiece.. Sure back in the day I could farm badges to get a certain piece I wanted instead of getting it dropped in a raid. But at least I know, I will be getting something for the time I put in. Not some random piece that might or might not appear and raid for 5 months straight and get only 1 piece.

Changes are fine (opinion me) as long as it's not LFG (aka changes impairing the social structure) or messing with the distribution/availability of limited resources in the world (aka changes messing with the importance of materials and crafters).

i think it would be kinda cool if they build off classic but make slight or big changes to the story line, feel like it would be cool to see different outcomes if things went differently. yes this would fuck with the main wow lore, but i still think that would be cool. like if thrall never became war chief or like instead of us going to out lands to deal with illidan he came to azeroth and had to deal with him there, kinda like a mix of legion and cata ( instead of deathwing tearing and burning the world, illidan comes and inflicts fel all over the world ), would list more things but my wow lore is rusty lol

I gotta say... with the limited sharding plan for Classic, I can get behind it.... IF IT'S LIMITED. There are *SO* many quests that are abso-fucking-lutely hell to do even with a handful of people on the quest. You can't entirely get away with skipping quests in Vanilla, so that's not the answer. Good luck getting the cats eye emerald from Northern Barrens with 30 people looking for it, even if you do group up. Good luck doing the escort in that castle outside of Ratchet.

The comment Asmongold makes about the dev's and players being against one another, seems pretty accurate. I don't think they're 100% opposed to one another. I do believe as a corporation, they are in favor of putting off certain player wants, for far longer then they should. They seem to prioritize placing small fixes that distract and keep players logging in, instead of just making the changes....probably because those changes are more complex. Complex equals time...time equals money, money they don't want to spend unless they really have to. It's typical of the larger game companies....Blizzard is still better then EA, or Activision.....although I audibly was like..."oh shit", when I saw Destiny 2 in the battlenet system....Blizzard....please don't let Activision corrupt you to their ways!!!.

Dear Ion. There is nothing exciting about having a gear drop with a dozen different random factors. You almost always end up dissapointed because you didn't get the best possible variation. Working towards a certain goal on the other hand makes you feel accomplished and rewarded for you work towards that goal.

I don't see how they're going to start with sharding, then stop the sharding months down the line. Because as soon as sharding stops being a needed solution for over saturation, it will become their solution for low population and faction imbalance.

Is Ion saying the sharding is going to be used in a time limited way, for the starting areas...and it is time limited, as in you don't have to spend much time in sharding areas...or that once servers pop's stabilize, they will remove the sharding all together?...That being said....lol I don't want sharding, but if they are not willing to budge...not certain I'll be returning to classic Azeroth. The memories I have of vanilla...are full of fun, desperation, excitement...a full range. I do not want those memories being kind of spoiled by new unfulfilling experiences, within the same content. Rather just remember the good times, and move forward.

14:50 It's not intended to be that way, Asmongold, and I don't think there ever will be. It's like politics. If there was a clear solution to a problem, or the absolute right way to do something then it would be done without struggle... but there are multiple philosophies in play. Sometimes all you CAN do is throw darts at the dartboard. It's hard to determine what will / will not work.

The stuff before 120 is not engaging for someone that has spent months doing that content when it was current. I have done the leveling experience for every xpac on at least 2 characters, most on 4 or more characters. The Pre BFA content can't keep subs if people don't like the BFA content. The only reason I still play is the friends I have through the game and raid nights are were we hang out.

Ive been playing wow on and off since wotlk and i dont even have bfa. Im probably having more fun without bfa than most people who have it. Its all up to the player

@@ghostcheddar1303 The only major change that happened to pre BFA content was the old world revamp in cata which I have already leveled 4 characters through and the world scaling, which I have also already experienced and didn't make leveling take as long as Vanilla or BC, so it wasn't even really a new experience for me. Neither of those are brand new features.. I'm sorry bust many people's idea of fun is not leveling alts through content they have already done a bunch of times(I know a couple of people like that, but they are not the norm). I already have every class at least at level 100 a bunch at 110, and working on my second at 120(usually would have been done already, but I have been so disinterested with the progression system of this expansion that I have just been playing other games when I am not raiding with my guild, this is the first expansion that I have done this). Going back on max level characters and 1 shotting old raid bosses that I have probably already killed at least 50-100 times while it was current content is not at all challenging, engaging or what I would call fun. It has nothing to do with having no "passion for the game" your just a super casual player that hasn't kept up with the content as it has come out so you still have things to experience. I would argue that I actuary have had more "passion for the game" because I actually experience everything as they release it, normally on multiple characters. Given that you don't even own BFA, you don't even have the perspective to comment on the problem that is being discussed. I'm glad you are enjoying yourself, but your situation is not the one that the majority of the current wow community is dealing with right now. Gearing characters is so uninteresting in compassion with how it used to be a long time ago. Instead of figuring out what you wanted and working to craft or farm the drop, you just do stuff(doesn't matter much what stuff) and hope that multiple dice rolls happen in your favor to get the cool titanforge now. Figuring out your BIS doesn't matter near as much now, because if something that isn't your BIS titanforges, you are going to use that instead. Crafting professions other than enchanting and alchemy are nearly useless. The loot system now is more akin to what you would expect in a ARPG like Diablo, not what most expect from an MMORPG and it is telling that so many in the community are speaking out against the current system.

Lol, the the dude calling the art of that expansion the 'clown era' is pretty accurate based on the pieces I get to drop. If I didn't transmog, our motley crew clearing the dungeon would look like a bad, drunk, band of mentally challenged persons that forgot to match a single color together, all the while wearing gigantic blown up emblems of their faction on their chest (for a certain piece of armor).
