I recommend wordreference.com to learn some word pronunciation, definition, synonyms and use of words in context.

I feel like as a Portuguese guy I can understand Spanish sometimes (when words sound similar) but for some reason I feel like Spanish people might not understand Portuguese in that same way

Duarte Carreira I’ve been studying Spanish for about 5 years now, and I can honestly say the same about Portuguese! I can pick out some words in Portuguese because there are some similar words between the two.

I think it depends on the pronunciation. I kind of understand some Brazilians but the pronunciation of Portugal is really closed. The same can be said about some parts of Brazil. And it also depends of the will of the speakers. I spent a whole afternoon speaking with a guy from Sao Pablo. He spoked in Portuguese and I in Spanish. With patience you can communicate pretty well.

It's like Spanish and Italian, they're similar but differ in their own ways, so Latin-based languages are like cousins

It’s really nice because I never liked Asmr videos of people saying things in my navitve language(spanish) but this guy’s voice is an exception, it’s so soothing. Flawless pronunciation by the way :)

I actually need to learn Spanish. I have a lot of friends living in Argentina and Paraguay and I do not speak a single word in Spanish haha

@@gotworc Its not that bad. The vast majority of Spanish words are universal. It's like British English, American English or Australian English, they can all understand each other but have different words for different things or expressions.

@@gotworc They may have different accents and use different expressions for certain words but that's about it, it's like British and American English. And Spanish is not useless, it's the second or third most spoken language in the world lol

@@gotworc what a closed mind comment, I'm native spanish and I can say that if you learn the Spain spanish u will be able to speak with everyone in every country into south america or other else, the problem comes if you learn a dialect and try to speak that in all countries, the words could be the same but its meaning change although u still being able to communicate with others

I’m currently on my second year of learning Latin, and I’m very happy with how well I was able to understand Spanish. Seems like 70/80% are very close to their Latin origins, and the conjugation seems very similar. I’d love more videos like this, very interesting :)

One thing I found wrong in the Duolingo Spanish course is the lack of differentiation between present and gerund in Spanish. Is no the same "Yo como una ensalada" than "Yo estoy comiendo una ensalada". The first one is "I eat a salad" and the last one means "I'm eating a salad". I don't understand why Duolingo doesn't differentiates between those forms because they have an equivalence in English.

Here’s a rip if you want more challenging tests, when you click on a lesson and click on a key, you take a test where enough get four lives, and if you pass it you move up a whole level, for example there is 5 main leavers for each, so you would move from level 1-2

Me and my dad were learning German on Duolingo, but now I'm learning Japanese and I like it because I take Karate so I recognized some of the words :D

DaTDMasters I‘m German and I have a question: is it really so hard to lern if you‘re not a native? 🤔 (I hope my english is good enough and you understand what I mean^^)

@@blurrythekid In my opinion, German isn't that hard. I remember a couple of words (like apfel means apple) even though the last time a took German was in October. So, it really depends on the language. By the way, your English is quite good, the only thing is that you said lern, not learn. Well, I hope I answered your question, and sorry for rambling!

I‘ve only know a few people that aren‘t German and they always complained about the grammar, haha😂 but I guess that’s a pretty individual question after all! And thanks for your feedback! I think my auto-correction did that. „Lern“ is a German word (or it’s short form) so... yeah😅

i find hilarious the fact that when you select "spanish" they put the flag of spain next to it but then teach you words like "jugo" which is used in south america 😅

It’s like how for English they don’t put the English flag but the American one. You learn American English but it’s weird they put the Spanish flag and you learn South American Spanish
