wow Mary. I normally watch your videos to relax but this one had my anxiety off the charts!! We sound like the same person. Misophonia, migraines, hating large crowds, wanting my "bubble" to myself. being quiet in public. I can so relate to this entire experience. You done great to keep your composure. Mary, that sounds like torture! I don’t think most people get it, but when you have misophonia, the extreme emotions are 100% real and overwhelming . I avoid busy places, but as a mom you don’t have that luxury. But it sure makes for entertaining content!

Yikes! I am an elementary music teacher and Choral director, and I just put on our 3rd grade chorus winter concert when I was 37 weeks pregnant and we not only started on time but all the parents loved it :-) sorry you had such a terrible experience!! Not to brag but I am pretty proud of myself and my chorus kiddos! The kids all spoke beautifully into the microphone, and instead of shushing the audience I just refuse to start each song until the parents get quiet so sometimes we wait a little linger in between the selections but I believe that I’m teaching not only music but audience etiquette! Us teachers really do try hard.... the worst part for us is dealing with rude parents, believe it or not!

In re: Dexter and getting angry. My rescue cat sometimes does that. If you catch her off guard, or she doesn’t see a way out she freaks out and doesn’t want to be touched. She was abused in her former home and we’ve had her for 5 years, she’s getting better realizing we aren’t going to hurt her but she still has her moments. From your Facebook post it sounds like Dexter had quite the life before he came to you!

Wonderful story-telling as always, Mary! That sounds like a waking nightmare, I would have felt the same way. Heck, I'm kind of having second hand suffering but I'm also getting a kick out of the way you're recounting this trying event lol. But anyway, I hate crowds, too- largely because I have horrible social anxiety but also because I have misophonia and hate unreasonable noise levels. As for the humming guy, my dad does the same thing and it honestly drives me completely nuts, all the more so because I fight my hardest to contain my rage. I just can't stand it.
