Hi, Fresno native here. Something you may not know about Yosemite falls is that during different times of the year at sunset, the falls will align with sun and it makes it look like the fall water is on fire. Truly an amazing sight to behold! Love your videos!

Bay Area here! I was just going to write that. It’s worth YouTubing it if you’re not in the area. The fire falls are incredible!

@@vanessathenavigator I never knew the falls had a name. I just thought it was on El Capitan. Thanks! I learned something! It’s so nice to hear how her friends are dying to come here because now I’m dying to see Austria!

Small correction! The "Ahwanee" labeled on the map is actually a hotel; the fanciest/most expensive one of the many you can stay in in the park actually. It also has a restaurant which is open to non-guests too. There is in fact also a Native American village, but it's located over by the museum. Sometimes the Ahwanechee people are in the museum demonstrating their arts and crafts or telling stories about their culture. You can find evidence of their inhabiting the land all over the park, such as divots in rocks where they would grind acorns into flour, a staple of their diet. So happy to see you cover Yosemite! It's one of my favourite places in the world and no matter what time of year or season, it's always magical. I recommend standing in the meadow in front of El Capitán and breathing in the valley... Oh and fun fact about bears. They're not just attracted to food, but anything that smells 'appetizing', so toothpaste, shampoo and cosmetics should also be kept in the bearproof lockers.

I'm so excited for this. I'd love to send you a Yellowstone one too! It's so interesting. also the reason the maps look that way is due to the national parks service who service each park. The nps also run a series of smaller parks and historical locations (like the original capital, Edgar Allen Poe home, and freedom hall among others). The NPS is one of the most important and easily invisible services that we have here in the US. The nps run the biggest classrooms in the us because each park is considered a learning and conservation environment

John Muir*, Father of the National Parks and all-around legend, was Scottish. His birthplace in Dunbar is now a museum dedicated to his life and work. A long distance trail named after him starts there and ends in Helensburgh on the West coast. *you pronounced it correctly, in case you were wondering!

Yay! I have been looking forward to your next video. I travelled through Yosemite in 2019 and it is extremely beautiful, but can be very, very crowded. On our first night there, my friend and I drove hours from campground to campground only to find that each was full, and we gave up when the sun went down and we ended up sleeping in our van on the side of the road in the middle of the woods. It is was a wonderful experience overall, though!

Regarding the origin of Stanislaus... From the Stanislaus County Wikipedia entry: The county was named after the Estanislao River, which in turn was named in honor of Estanislao, a mission-educated renegade Native American chief who led a band of Native Americans in a series of battles against Mexican troops until finally being defeated by General Mariano Vallejo in 1826. Estanislao was his baptismal name, the Spanish name version after Saint Stanislaus the Martyr.

I had no idea it's pronounced "Yo-Seh-Mitt-Ee". I've always just read it and assumed it was "Yoe-s-mite". Now I feel dumb ahah. I'm British, it's not really that well known here to be fair.
