As a switch owner i highly recommend the plastic skins that go over the joycons. they add a little flair and give the controllers more space to hold onto. Also a screen protector is a necessity.

The kickstand is made to "break off". So that isn't necessarily a problem if it comes off.

The switch was probably one of my best purchases this year. I initially wasn't sold on it but when I have had to travel and wanted to bring a console this thing is extremely convenient. My only downside to it right now is lack of titles but the ones I have so far are great! Zelda was amazing, Mario Kart is fantastic, and Arms is quirky and definitely a great time killer. I also like the adaptability of the system going from portable mode to multiplayer to home console and it isn't an inconvenience to set up. I'm totally excited to see your Zelda content!

it may feel high quality now but give it a month and your joycons will start looking like the finish is fading, the console will get scratched like crazy due to the dock, and the joy cons will start coming off without having to press the release button

Holding out fine for me so far! I got a screen protector to stave off the scratches. To be fair, I don't use it heavily, most just for a bit before bed each night, or while travelling. I'd put the build quality on par with my 3DS XL, which is still rockin' after 5+ years.

It's a decently powerful (considering it's size) handheld and home console. I recommend it if you're interested in BotW, Mario+rabbids: kingdom battle and Nintendo games in general. The library isn't that great at the moment, though.

Darin Gainey Nintendo is known for targeting the lower age ranges. Its not promoting bloodborne but mario not dark souls 3 but zelda not RE 7 but kirby not call of duty but donkey kong not Prey but Yoshi etc.... parents love Nintendo for this so they buy it for their children. it may not specifically marketed for kids but thats who would buy it because its more appealing to children and with Nintendos prior family friendly attitude i believe they will continue such practices.
