They cannot work, they have no house, they have no belongings and quite frankly, they are not even able to move but gosh darnit, serf life is just so fulfilling that they're happy while the combined pressure of the pops forced into the habitat is creating enough heat to actually power the station.

I'm a huge fan of this origin. I played many different games with them and tested different builds. They are just awesome and I really hope that they dont change/nerf them, or atleast not that much. And a small tip for everyone that had problems in the early game (which I heard quite many had). Go for the Mercantile tradition. Trade Value isn't affected by the negative energy modifier, so you can avoid it entirely. Especially "Commercial Enterprise" is good, because it gives you 1 Merchant on Trade Districts. Which you actually can build, because you start with a free tier 2 habitat (which easily offsets the lower number of pops, thanks to the doubled growth). Its also worth going for the "Consumer Benefits" Policy and switch you economy policy to militarized (+25% alloy -25% consumer goods). This way you get consumer goods from trade and offset the negative alloy production. Btw. if you go heavily on slaves, I also recommend the Noxious Trait (get it later with genemodding, because of the negatives). Having you ruler jobs taken by noxious pops means, that you have always high stability. Because they have way higher political power. You can even ignore amenities, because they only boost happiness, which the noxious trait already does. 100% happy rulers and 0% happy slaves is completly normal ^^
@POKENAR2 жыл бұрын
From my experience, the knight output is well worth the very early game hit, especially if you know just enough about the game to rather easily offset it. I think I ran the high-funding option after like 5 years and never turned it off, I barely noticed a hit to my alloys. Intending to keep the knights, I found by the time I finished the quest, my tech tree was almost complete and I took the science genning options, so I instead opted for the toxic god so I could save on an ascension perk, I feel if I was on a higher difficulty or I wasn't playing the standard MP gamerule of 75% tech cost, I'd have probably killed the god.

I roleplayed my first game with the Knights of the Toxic gods was, interesting. At first I found a shroud enclave near my capital and saw them as mages, guiding my steps through a dangerous future by the help of the shrout. Next I found some Bards for my empire, a Enclave full of Artists. While I was busy finishing of the cult of heretics, oposing my knight order, I made contact with another Empire. They had the same political allignment and ethics as me, so I handled them like another honourable Order. Sadly, they had a small problem, wich would become a bigger one for me: They had a swarm of driven exterminators beating them up. The second I noticed this, I send my fleets out to purge this Evil. My valiant Knights took one after another planet, but I was too slow and the game forced a white peace. It was kinda annoying at the time, but something interesting happend, before I could go to war with them again. The swarm exploded into smaller empires, all friendly and not out for blood. As the honourable knight my leader was, he saw that the once violent swarm changed it ways to create a peaceful future, so he left them alone. With that the first crusade was over. Meanwhile borders between empires became clear and some fortress habitats were built on chokepoints, just to be safe. Some empire opened the L-Gate, just to find some friendly people, who really didn´t want to talk about nanites, so I left them be. There were some empires, who needed the protection from the dangers of the galaxy, so they were offered subjugation and became Bulwarks for the next crusade, all with a network of Gates to conect to shipyards of the Order, also around the same time a Hegemony alliance was formed, with another overlord and it flurished, it was a golden time. The galaxy respect the Order of Knights who swore to destroy every evil that may come over it. But there where mistakes made. One of the Knights on hs quest was killed by a Gate Guard, for having the wrong answer to a question, but the witty squire showed his worth and completed the quest. Another Knight opposed the feeling of Lust and would have doomed the Empire, if it weren´t self replecating Lithoid who ascended to perfect Gene manipulation. Of course, since it was a medieval based society, there were flaws with it. Every species not deemend worthy (all of them), weren´t able to climb the ranks and stayed peasents (slaves), but they got the gift of beeing modified to be better suited for that role and were thankful for that. But then it happend, right after the Order reached it´s goal, of killing the Beast, that has damaged it´s homeworld and took it´s head home as a Throphy, interdimensional Invaders came and threatened the galaxy. Luckily for the Galactic community, their Portal was right next to one of the Borders of the Knights Fortresses and were efficently dealt with in the second crusade. Even though, the humble Knights never really took a stance in galactic politics, the galaxy decided to decleare them their custodians. That was just in time, as after that the next threat rose on the horizon. A ancient MAchine Intelligence swore to destroy all biological life forms. A fallen Robot empire, corrupted by these Exterminators, joined them and the few robots inside the Orders Empire also got influenced and stood up against their creators. In what became known as the Third Crusade, wich lasted for 5 years, the order proved once more to be capable to shield the galaxy from vile creatures. Sadly, many lives where lost, as three planets from peaceful empires got completly destroyed. After that, a new system, only reachable through a jumpdrive was found and the Lord Commander called his knights for another Quest. Only time will tell, what these brave Knights will find there.

I loved this origin. It really felt like you were a crusading empire, I was constantly at war with other empires, whether for humiliation, subjugation, or at the behest of my militaristic vassals. When I found the Toxic God I opted to control it rather than kill it, which made the midgame a breeze since it can tank midgame fleets by itself while toxifying a capital world. So badass.

Planetary ascension works on Knights with Capital designation. Another 35%. My favorite outcome of "Whitch in the woods" event is 3 organic pop asembly on every planet. Essencialy free cloning vats everywhere. Slap budding on top. Whith cultural workers "cheese" you can get unlimited housing, amenities and 0 pop upkeep. Unlimited Knights. Unlimited POWER. Combine with utopian abundance, and all unemploed pops will also produce research and unity. And this how Adventure Guild of the Friendliest Blorgs was created...
@kareningram60932 жыл бұрын
Wow. I didn't even know you could fit that many pops without housing in one place. I assumed there was a limit.
@TheDrexxus2 жыл бұрын
They stop growing as you approach and run out of housing, but nothing stops you from transferring limitless amounts to a single location. Whenever I get lazy and forget to put on population controls and get too many pops, I cram them all on a single planet and cut it lose, then go to war and bomb the shit out of it until they're all dead, then conquer the planet again for the next purge. Rather silly you have to jump through so many hoops just to keep your population levels stable. But pop BUILDING never stops. So robots and cloning facilities produce forever, regardless of housing. So if you get mushroom people slaves and give them budding, the more that are on that habitat, the faster they reproduce at a linear rate. Eventually you can have so many that you get new pops every single month.

Never understood why we can’t have hard caps for populations on planets and stations (like we used to). You can’t physically cram more entities in a space that can’t handle them. It’s always makes me feel like I’m not optimizing if there is virtually infinite space on any object. Feels bad man.
@npierce142 жыл бұрын
Yea I was thinking the same thing I come across situations where I have no more jobs with a popualtion of like 60 but the planet says it can handle having 120 so I’m just supposed to let 60 pops be unemployed?
@heinz82332 жыл бұрын
Why would you want a hard cap on pops? What do you know about habitats in stellaris and their size or capacity? Its an abstraction like everything else in the game, and soft caps are always always better and more fun. It just happens that the +3 stability for knights is a tiny bit broken, thats it. No other way would you be able to cram so many pops on any planet. Its really fun though.

At that point I had higher starbase cap than fleet cap, lol (26 starbases, 0/25 fleets). At that point, I was well into repeatables (Focusing Arrays V, Administrative Efficiency VII, High-Density Munitions III). Had 45k alloys saved up, immediately bumped my naval cap, built a fleet, and steamrolled neighbors one at a time, making them protectorates. Altered the deal as soon as possible for max basic resource tax & buildings, ignoring their loyalty. Then took out the fallen empire next door, claiming their territory. Pamper the fallen. Once we had ~4 protectorates + Dyson sphere + matter decompressor, there's so much basic resource income we can afford to remove all energy + mineral + food jobs. Build ringworlds as fast as possible and optimize all of them for research. Pay attention to anyone in the galaxy building a science nexus or mega art installation, and nab them as soon as possible. You want several of each. And then make sure the Galactic Community values science above all else. Eventually almost every planet will need to be a refinery world to keep up with the thirsty ringworld researchers. I was playing Ironman, but had a copied save from 2279, so here's 2 data points: Results as of 2279: +5k Science, +791 unity (700 over edict fund), 11 planets, 566 pops, level 3 Scholarium, 0 fleets, +1k alloys Results as of 2418: +37k Science, +46k unity (10k over edict fund), 125 planets (54 ring world segments, 2 ecus), 4596 pops

i finally decided to try this origin yesterday... only around 25 years in, not exactly loving it, not hating it either, just meh, but mostly because i like playing hive mind, rogue servitors or genocidal empires more... finally decided to check this video and see how ASpec built his empire, come to find out it's almost exactly the build i did, except i didn't start with distinguished admiral, i started with meritocracy and masterful crafters, but i was thinking i might eventually switch out meritocracy for distinguished admiralty.

This is how I found out that there is a maximum cap for monthly trade, which is 20000 :)

What should I replace Master Crafters with if I dont have it, Meritocracy, Functional Architecture, or something else? Thanks for any feedback.
@A_Spec2 жыл бұрын
Functional Architecture is quite good, even though it got nerfed from 2 slots to 1. Do you have Diplo Corps?

@@A_Spec I just bought the dlc pack outright, I figured it was finally time lol. If anything I am having trouble getting the stability special event quest for the "Knightly Duty - Herald Knights" option. Thanks for the feedback! Ill look into Diplo Corps, I have all the "main" DLC and story packs, not all of the species packs though. This is the first species pack I bought and I am loving it. Are you recommedning Diplo Corps cause of the envoys and diplo weight effect? Thanks for the vids, you are awesome!

Something in my mod setup is causing the Order's Keep to not spawn, and there's nothing I can do to get it (well, except play without my mods). And it's driving me up the wall.

Well as a science person...I love this. Since I truly love running machine researchers this is a little between my usuals.(aside from winning via megacorp BS)

You can’t get the stability buff. Try Egalitarian, and Utopian abundance to offset that

I've been enjoying playing a "Good Guys" build with this origin, but......*runs off to the create screen to make an exploitative Megacorp* Mwahahahahahahaha!

It looks like they've fied it. My livestock does not count towards the number of knight jobs. It would be cool if i could stack it with the buff from the Eater of Worlds. :D
