It is absolutely appalling that Connor receives so much of hate just because: he doesn't crack a joke, deliver witty one-liners or flirt & sleep with women. Just because he doesn't do all of those things, then he is considered "bland & boring". Ezio is a good character too, but I feel that he started a bad trend when it comes to personality traits in a protagonist. After him, everybody wants every new protagonist in AC to be a charming, charismatic, flirtatious ladies' man. It is also very annoying that most of the haters out there claim that he is a tempestuous character that is blindly seeking revenge. Ubisoft would never write character that was not in the "right". After completing Rogue, I feel more admiration for Connor.

People think Connor was bland because his story and the way he acted were very real. His story isn't empowering at all, which is different from the other games and characters. You aren't made to feel the hero, you're made to feel subjugated, abused, and betrayed. He was always fighting a losing battle, and you felt that. Thats why I love Connor as a character. He knows his fight is hopeless but fights on anyway.

I think part of the reason people disliked Connor so much was that he was the exact opposite of Ezio and people loved ezio enough to get 3 games. Connor was stoic, serious and had a bit of a temper. He wasn't the suave, calm, ladies man that Ezio was. Personally I like Connor more than all of them so far, haven't played Rogue. He was in a doomed battle trying to fend off the encroaching white man from stealing his heritage and home with no clear way of how to do it. He joined the Revolutionaries thinking they would repay him for his service but all he found was hypocrisy in their freedom. Even allying himself with his father hoping peace could be brokered but that too failed. His story was one of tragedy with no happy ending unlike Ezio who started tragic and everything eventually worked out. This is why Connor is my favorite because despite all this he never gave up.

I don't get it, Connor was a serious and straight forward individual who displayed great discipline and conviction. He had a hard life and did what he thought was right for the good of his people and the ideal of freedom. Moreover, he was already a trained fighter before joining the creed so he knew the concept of discipline from a very young age. His culture also demands it of him so he grew up to be strong and focused not easily clouded by emotion. Is it because you didn't see him cry or get drunk over a heated argument that made him so "bland" ? One has to really be into story telling in order to read the emotion of the character in order to feel their inner plight and understand their perspective. Im not saying you have to agree with it but im also saying you shouldn't be so quick to write Connor off as one dimensional. I felt his grief when he killed his father and lost Achilles. I saw his happiness and kindness through the homestead missions as he helped the community grow into something great. I felt his pain when he lost his people and his best friend. We saw his passion as he fought to end Charles Lee and consequently the colonial Templar's. However, what stood out to me the most was his perseverance and tenacity as well his indomitable warrior spirit, which were the very things that set him apart from many of the other assassins.
@mattyonline210 жыл бұрын
Problem with the internet is that creates people's opinions for them. Most people will say Connor's bland/boring and that AC3 was the worst installment mainly because one person said it, then another did and then everyone else thought that was the "general consensus" and wanted to be part of the crowd by mimicking the opinion. Annoying really, because not only does AC3 carry a great story, it evolved the series in such a way that it's impossible to say it hasn't improved. Play AC2, the "best installment of the series" (another mimicked opinion) and then play AC3. The improvement in game-play is HUGE. But as I said, most people that think Connor is a boring character have copied that opinion from someone else that said it and cannot remember why. I normally ask most of those people "Why?" and they struggle with a response. There's nothing wrong with presenting a completely different character in a series. Especially when you are trying to convey to the players that the Assassin's order has members from ALL walks of life, all with different reasons to fight against oppression, fighting under a single banner. Black Flag has been the best of the series so far. People say the story isn't engaging... I invite them to play the game through the story once again. Read up on Edward's story after the events of the game and ride the feel train.

AC3 is basiclly a retelling of Star Wars, just during the America Revelution. Think about it, Connors father Haytham is aming to destroy the Brotherhood (sounds like Darth Vader and Order 66) Then Connors village gets burned down and his family dies (same thing with Luke Skywalker) Connor later finds a old man who reveals too be an old member of the long lost Brotherhood (Obi-Wan and the Jedi) He trains Connor so that Connor can defeat his father and his men as well as free America from the British (the war between the Rebels and the Empire) also in the new game ACR you play as Haythams apprentice Shay ( much Star Killer and Darth Vader) who travels around America too destroy tha remains of the Brotherhood and kill the members who still are alive.

I really liked AC3, in my opinion, its the best in the series. a lot of people had a problem with how the missions were layed out and stuff, which i understand. But you always had a sense of direction and like you were actually playing a role in history. Connor is my favorite, just for the fact that hes totally out of his element in the beginning, and you get to see him turn into a full fledged assassin. Even then, he would still much rather keep to himself and keep his secrets. I just finished AC4 and i almost feel overwhelmed and like i don't belong in the assassins at all. You dont really ever get inducted. it feels like its just a game about pirates that assassins just so happen to exist in, and you run into them every now and then. still an ok game tho.

3:24 absolutely heartbreaking connor led a fight which he shouldn't have the templars, charles lee or haythsm they were not his enemy but still he fought them because he was told by juno in his teenage that stopping the templars and following the assassin symbol will help him save his villsge from the ill fate but that was all a lie he along with his village were all just pawns in juno's big game and still after all that connor continued to be an assassin his story was a beautiful tragedy which sadly people couldn't understand enough

What people don't realize is Connor is basically Batman in the ACU lol
@laysekai435610 жыл бұрын
Connor is the most misunderstood characters in the AC series. What people fail to realise that every assassin ever created in the AC universe was meant to be an individual. They all added something unique to game. They all come from different eras & upbringings. Ezio grew up in nobility, spoiled rich & suddenly had a rude awakening that the world is a cruel place... a lesson he learned the hard way. Altair did not exactly lead a charmed life. Connor on the other hand knew this better than anyone, that the world is a cruel place (atleast better than Ezio). Bear in mind, when Ezio was a teenager, he was a troublemaker & made many women in Italy one of his conquests. When Connor was around the same age, he was a hunter-gatherer, care-free & innocent. Connor had a pleasant childhood & it was taken from him. Atleast Ezio was at an age when he had a better sense of understanding, as well as having his sister & uncle to help him come to terms with the deaths of his father & brothers. Imagine yourself in Connor's shoes, you follow your objectives only to find yourself asking more questions than feeling a sense of accomplishment. Fight so hard for so long & have nothing to show for it. The people you work for suddenly turn their backs on you. The one person you look up to was the one that betrayed you. The people you fought to save suddenly desert you. Even when you win... you still lose. It was as though things were not meant to work out for him. He has every right to feel angry & frustrated.. but chooses not to wallow in self pity. Connor is a great character. He is humble & down- to- earth. It was the gameplay & plot that fell apart in AC3.
@FunkyRhino222810 жыл бұрын

Connor's life seems to mirror Joseph Campbell's " the heroes Journey" rather well. His story is so compelling because he represents a manifested construct yet has to remain latent. In one of his detrimental discussions with Achilles, he risks the exposure of the creed by directly interfering to help George Washington, though he appears to make the right decision it is a visceral need. Connor is truly an individual at conflict with what he wants and what he needs, and though he is very well disciplined he has to act. Like Desmond, he is lead on by the lies and fallacies of others but is yet determined to not deviate as a true testament of his character. Though he does not come to fully understand, he is forced to accept and learn. It is very difficult at times to tell where the beauty and meaning lies at the end of a story when it does not live up to the hopes the hero originally once had but it can truly transcend a lot of passion to the struggle we can all see within... fighting for an ending that is truly impossible -no one is going to read this, shame
