Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan! is set in Kyoto during the Edo period, in 1605. It is an account of the life of Miyamoto Musashi, who resides in the Gion district using the pseudonym Kiryu Kazumanosuke. Miyamoto Musashi is the protagonist himself xD Assassin's Creed Shadows and Ryu Ga Gotoku Kenzan are set in the same time period

Have you heard of the game Rise of the Ronin. It takes place in mid 1800s, i.e. late Edo period. Interestingly, there’s a historical figure called Yasusuke Sawamura from Iga and his goal is to pass on ninjutsu to someone since he’s afraid the art will be lost. But unfortunately, ninjutsu in the game is mainly a sword fighting style.

When you say he shouldnt be the main character you are forgetting a very important aspect of it. It is an assassin's creed game, the order of assassins were not from japan. So most likely Yasuke is the actual person from the assassin's order and he recruits the girl to help him, not the other way around.

Yes. As far as the Assassins VS Templars storyline goes, Japan is still new and fertile ground for both groups and Yasuke was in unique position to influence either group (yet to be seen is he an Assassin or a Templar), a nobody from west who rose quite high in the ranks of a major Daimyo lord. A perfect choice for an Assassins Creed character set in Japan IMHO.

Kinda new here. I've heard of your channel thank to the Shogunate, which I found the content astonishing. I've already watched a few of your videos and I'm already sold. Originally I'm a fan of Japan history and culture and I'm writting a fantasy novel taking place in an imaginary world that's highly inspired by mid-late Sengoku Japan. So, of course, my book being fantasy, I don't technically have to be accurate (and the story is very much something of its own with near to no bearing on real history) but when it stands to clothings, traditions, everyday life ect, I want my world to FEEL like Sengoku Japan, so I'm surprisingly greedy for knowledge of that period and your channel came as a godsend in that regard. Thank you very much. About the video itself. Saddly I'm not surprised. Despite all what they may pretend, Ubisoft are more concerned by selling copies and pushing their woke agenda than historical accuracy. I won't play that Assassin's creed, personally. Not only because it had never been a franchise that appealed to me, but also because even from a historical standpoint, I know for a fact that most of what they'll depict will be questionbable, at best. And I mean, we just have to look at the trailer. Kunoichi who look like some character escaped from Watch dogs, Yasuke somehow promoted to taishō (sōtaishō??? Look, I like this guy. I found it amazing that a black african of that period managed to carve his way as Nobunaga's retainer but they kinda overshot it a bit there...to say the least). I'll pass.

I don't know if you take requests like these, but can you describe the different "levels" of ninjas? Not necessarily the military rankings of each Shinobi, but moreso how some are thieves, some are foot soldiers with grappling hooks, some are samurai who dedicate their lives to the craft, etc. Something that stuck out to me was how Shinobi no Jutsu can be applied to a good number of different military roles.

Being in the Bujinkan and an Assasins Creed fan I was anticipating a game in Japan. This trailer is a bit dissapointing. The game would have probably been better if you were involved in the games developement.

They have a host of historians as advisers in every game, but they ignore them. They might have the leading authority on whatever period is being depicted, but it seems to be more of a formality. It even has a trope name, but I can't remember it. Executive meddling is another big cause. The execs are worried that people will find too much accuracy boring or off putting. We'll have to wait for the old execs to die off before we get better historical accuracy.

People who live in a fairytale just completely ignore the fact that the 1500's was a completely different and brutal time where slave trading and racism were normalized. Yasuke came from a portuguese colony and was black, most likely slave traded to japan. The japanese may have seen black people as inferior at that time, just like the spanish and the portuguese. So giving a honorable title that requires years of experience to some stranger that lacks the training, that doesn't speak their language and who was only there for a very short time and on top of that is viewed badly because of the skin colour alone, is absolutely unrealistic. The problem is that those games can change people's perception. If the media shows you only rich people, the general public will think that more than 30% of the people make more 500k a year, but in reality it's just 1% that makes that amount of money for example. Considering that the ultra power hungry rich from bed rock are forcing this stuff on the people, is quite worrysome and there must be a reason for that.

As an assassin's creed fan, I'm exited. But as a ninja fan, I'll stick with Ghost of Tsushima. At least the only real inaccuracies (not getting into plot of course) is the armor is Sengoku not 13th century. Most of the inaccuracies though are more western shorthand. Haiku instead of Renga for example. And even the inaccuracies are only time period inaccuracies. Though if they make a sequel, I want it in the Sengoku, and you get firearms, spears ect

The whole premise of Assassins Creed is nonsensical to begin with. It would fit better in a fantasy setting. I don’t understand why they don’t do that because with fantasy you can make whatever shit up you want. Which seems to be their goal. I mean how the fuck do hassassin and Templars end up in 16th century Japan? (I get there are no white people this time but remember that the whole point of the series is this secret war between those two factions.) It is bad enough that they are around centuries after the Templar order is destroyed. They even somehow connected the destruction of the Templar order in the 14th century to the French Revolution. I wish I was making that up… I also hate the whole ahistorical Templar conspiracy nonsense we see in this and stuff in Oakisland. Just make a fantasy Templar order and make a new world and it would work better. Like what Dragon age did.
