I bought an Assault when it came out. I wasn’t happy with the amount of slop inherent in the design. The echo was 200$ cheaper for a while. The echo has actual buttons vs crappy touch things. If I could go back I’d get the echo, but the Assault has taken me to the pits of suffering no other device has come close to and for that I appreciate my purchase. Thanks for sharing!

We tackled assembling the bike as a family project. kzbin.infoUgkxzg0clhbtRf2gGxPkVETFKJJKGqdsorQu The package is heavy, but I have 2 teen boys that were able to move it. The written instructions were great- we didn't need to watch the videos, but it was good knowing that the option was there if we needed it. After we were able to get it set up, the boys each rode 3 miles and I rode 8 and the bike stayed quiet. The display is easy to reset, and you can put it on whichever setting you are using (time, distance, calories, etc). I will say that my butt is a little sore from the seat, but that could be because I haven't rode in a while. While it is comfortable for me, it was not comfortable with the seat position for my friend (could not move the seat back far enough and he slightly looked like a kid riding a tricycle that he had outgrown). He also said that the seat hurt his manly parts. We are going to look for a different seat that will be compatible with this bike for him.I did purchase the Wahoo Cadence sensor and strapped it to the crank of one of the pedals. This will sync with my Apple Watch, iPhone and will import data in to my Health app. Wahoo does have other sensors available other than cadence. I can also keep either my phone or my iPad on the display and they both feel pretty secure.

I work on the equipment at my gym and we have 10 air assault bikes. These bikes are a maintenance nightmare. I don't think they were designed to take the beating that we give them. Issues: constant adjustments, constant lubrication, rust from sweat. You have to use locktite on every bolt so the thing doesn't fall apart.

I got a Schwinn AD7 a couple months ago. From what I heard it is the same as the Pro version but it is sold with a home warranty. I have been very happy with it. It was easy to assemble. After the first couple of uses I had to tighten the bolts for the handles but they haven't come lose again. Even if they do they are very easy to adjust. No other issues. I have used it for both steady aerobic sessions and HIIT. I'm 50 and it is a great machine for HIIT without impact on the joints.

After my own experience with drivebelt driven equipement in the past, I still choose the Assault over Rouge. A bit more noise isnt a problem. Also, doesnt matter how overly built the Echo is, the rubber belt is its single weakest point and potentially makes it an expensive paperweight. While, the Assault chain has been tried and true. Changing the chain is pretty easy too.

I’m the oddball I guess. I actually prefer the chain driven system over the belt. The belt driven system feels a little too smooth and easy to maintain the max effort if that makes sense where as the chain system makes me work a little harder to sustain the same effort. As far as maintenance goes, our fire department has them exposed to the elements and we abuse them with several classes of fire recruits using them in addition with the guys already on the job and they work just fine.

Having used both of these I still prefer the Assualt bike from a user experience point of view. The reason for this is that I do some drills that involve constant speed changes. The Rogue requires lees torque to spin it up and down so the workout does not have the same intensity. I agree that the belt drive and construction are superior to the assault bike. I have seen the fan blades on a rogue come away from the central hub.

I can promise you, the calories on the assault bike are much different than the Rogue Echo. It is much more difficult to get calories on the Rogue Echo. In my opinion, comparing the assault bike to the Scwinn and Rogue Echo is almost like comparing lemons to oranges, as it feels completely different to operate. They may both be citrus, but there is a big difference in taste...

Coop, I haven't heard any mention of bearings with your review or on the Rogue site. Is the Rogue bike made using sealed bearings at pivot points or bushings? Also, What is it about the Bike ERG that makes it so appealing to you? Apparently, it is more enjoyable to use. Why is that? I'm interested in that machine but for $900 and weighing less than 60#, I just can't rationalize it being worth it or solid enough. Thanks for another interesting and entertaining review!

I would go with the C2 Rower personally.

Great video. Have you used the Assault Bike Elite? Would appreciate your thoughts on the elite vs rogue if you have.

Is this something I use for longer duration 30-60 min slow steady cal burning? Or is it only suited for faster "HIT" style training? thank you.

No, it would work for either, although personally I prefer it for shorter intervals.

So I have an older airdyne, I use it outside but I feel is loud, rickety and disrupts the neighbors. On a scale of 1-10 competed to the assualt, how load is the rogue? Just wanting to know so I can make the switch.

It's still loud because of the fan, but only because of the fan. There's no excess noise from the rattling of the metal.

First, thank you for the review. I've worked out 45-60 minutes on an Precor elliptical for almost 20 years. Just wondering if you've made a video on which would give a better workout, an elliptical or a bike such as the ones you've compared. Before I bought the elliptical, I was debating on which to buy between the Precor and the StaircMaster 4000 which would give me a killer workout at the gym. I ended up buying the elliptical because it was easy on the joints. Thank you.

Maybe a dumb question but what units are available for distance? Miles and KM or will it actually do just meters as well. Thanks

1022 'euros' ..that's £680, not sure about the free shipping though, but that isn't much more than the Assault Air Bike; found it at £648.

For those of us in a garage gym with limited space would the larger size of the echo bike sway you towards the assault bike? Or would you consider losing a little floor space worth the improvements of the Rogue bike. Thanks
@GarageGymReviews
@GarageGymReviews 7 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. I don't think it's a big enough difference to matter. The Echo Bike certainly is bulkier, but the difference in space taken up is negligible.

Sorry man, I've used both, and I have to say aside from the maintenance of the Assault bike, the Assault bike feels like a much more translatable experience. The idea of training for me is "functional fitness," and the Assault bike gives me that feeling of biking on a trail or trying to get up that last hill. You don't get that experience with the Echo bike, and this belt-driven machine feels like an elliptical. Also, the seat adjustments just aren't there for me. The handles feel too high for me to be comfortable no matter how I adjust the seat. I will not deny it is much quieter than this video leads you to believe, at least around 50-60 RPM. Around 90ish RPMs, both are pretty loud. You will get a great workout from either, but in the instance where someone wants a translatable experience, I'd stick with the chain driven options you have.
