Assetto Corsa Arrives on LFM… and it’s a DREAM Combo!

Finally, a good excuse to get an Assetto Corsa race in! The news this week that Low Fuel Motorsport was trialling AC on its platform has created a real buzz among the sim racing community, so I thought I’d sign up and give it a try.
It’s a Mazda MX-5 Cup race at Lime Rock Park, and competition is fierce. I’ll be starting from P18 on a grid of 25, and my qualifying time of 1.00.5 is well off the pace - to stand a chance of fighting for the top 10, I really need to get those lap times down to under a minute.
More importantly, what will my first impression be? Will the AC LFM collaboration be a match made in heaven? I’ve got high hopes!

Hopefully these MX5's will prove an AC staple for LFM, they're still one of the best cars in AC IMO and should stay on the roster. Solid race, some good close racing going on.

It’s the first time I’ve ever driven it in AC. I didn’t realise I owned it, I went to buy the Japanese dlc and saw I already had it… guessing I must have got the ultimate edition of AC. Great fun though, I’m really excited about a few more races in these cars.

Ive had a blast playing this today. Just made a few mistakes that cost me a lot of early gained positions and i ended up 7th to 11th in the 10am gmt 1st split race but it was a lot of fun closely battling other people. I really like your passionate commentary lol. subbed

I am so F*^^*n happy AC is on LFM! In my opinion, the best sim out there in terms of driving fun. Peter and Ilja have done an amazing job with everything they have done for this title. I am so pumped! The only negative for AC is those curbs! They can be deadly on so many different tracks. Great entertainment Chris. Great call on the action as always. See you on the grid :)

It’s brilliant news, isn’t it! I absolutely love AC, but reluctantly uninstalled it a long time ago as it was just sat gathering dust on my SSD. The ability to ‘arrive and drive’ in an online ranked schedule was the only thing stopping me from using it, but now it looks like I’ve got my wish 😃

Kerbs need to be softened/scale down vertically. May solve problem. Currently tracks & objects on the track are in realistic size & shape.

Good racing! This race also on my list of things to do today. The amount of content AC has to offer, LFM might be just the right thing for this sim. Might be some good combos in the future.

Yeah exactly, unlimited possibilities for races and combos. I’m really excited about it. I love the new rF2 online platform but the weekly combos are already beginning to feel a bit repetitive. AC on LFM will add even more variety to our race options!

@@chrisrogerssimracingI spent $65 on RF2 two weeks ago. If they had announced AC on LFM one week earlier, that would have saved me some money. Oh well I guess it’s not too bad to have both. AC, RF2 and ACC are my favorite sims. Iracing is good but they have some challenges with their physics and I really dislike their business model

I love that Assetto Corsa is on LFM, it's such a great sim. I went for the first Le Mans race in the LMP3 on Sunday night, great fun it was. Your race; you were so unfortunate early on but again you get your head down and make it work, good show. Now i need a lie down. ;)

Another awesome and exciting race, Chris! Well done! Lime Rock is such a beautiful track, and right in my "back yard" about an hour or so away from my home. It's exciting to see AC on LFM. I've had AC for a few months now, but never actually even launched it. This might be reason to do so! Are you running any mods/add-ons?

I’d definitely recommend AC, if only for the huge variety of choice it offers. There are several mods required to be able to join LFM races… Sol and the Custom Shader patch (which are both excellent, and must-haves), plus the new Real Penalty plug-in and Content Manager to install and launch races easily. The only other app I’ve added so far is the on-screen radar, which is called Helicorsa 👍

My favorite car in AC. In the last 2-3 years I've only played ACC, so it was a bit weird to drive it again yesterday, and I've never driven on this track before either... But after 1-2 hours of practicing i managed to do a 59.3 lap. After a little bit more practice, I might even go on races in the second half of the week. Maybe we'll finally meet on the racetrack! :)

That’s a quick time. I only did a few laps of practice before the race, so wasn’t even getting into the 59s after qualifying. I got down to a 59.6 in the race, but I reckon any extra tenths after that are going to be very difficult for me to find! I’m keen to try the race again though, knowing I’ll be a bit quicker from the start.

Excellent racing and commentary, Chris, really entertaining! The feel of the car, the flex of the tyres, through the ffb has left me shaking my head in disbelief (in a good way). Why can't iracing deliver physics like AC does? If LFM can increase the amount of races, and the capacity for those races, then they're surely on to a winner with this one.

Another great option if the grid sizes can be maintained. The variety of content in AC is massive, with some incredibly good car and track mods. Opens up loads of new possibilities for online racing 👍

Your videos are always fun to watch! Last night I joined your ACC team on LFM. By the way, how do you get the radar on AC? I found all the apps/overlays to the right of the screen but I don’t see the radar. What am I missing?

Ahh yes, that’s a third-party app. It’s called HeliCorsa - you can download it from Race Department and just install it the usual way through Content Manager. It’s really useful. Thanks for joining the team!

I never subscribed to Iracing, but I have a bad feeling about it. I am afraid that this news of assetto corsa into LFM may hurt Iracing badly . It is something nice, just because assetto corsa is probably my favorite simulation of all time, just because the graphics and content are insane

I uninstalled AC ages ago, not because I didn’t like it, but because I rarely used it and it was taking up a lot of SSD space. But as soon as I saw it had landed on LFM, I was right back on the reinstall button! Looking really good so far 🤞

Agreed! I was battle-scarred for a long time after Mazda rookies in iRacing, but I’ve rediscovered my love for them in RaceRoom and now AC 😃

@@chrisrogerssimracing I JUST ordered my sim rig and bought proper pedals and a wheel for Black Friday, and I've been waiting to take the plunge into iRacing... can't wait! As for now, my trusty Logitech G29 and I often race full MX-5 cup AI grids at the Nordschleife on AC, and it's SO fun! Highly recommend if you're ever a bit fed up with LFM on ACC haha, cheers! :)

I dont have enough time to try out so many sims... Been playing iracing but this is tempting, all depends how much content lfm use and times that people are online, i race early morning uk time so will have to see how the grids look

Yeah this is exactly why I always return to iRacing. I’m a daytime racer too, so you’re always guaranteed a full grid at any time. LFM is the closest thing to that… mornings may be a little quiet, but by lunchtime there are always full grids.

I had a go with the LFM @ LeMans... didn't get to 20:00 (CET) race, as it was full one hour before it would start, so I've subscribed for the 22:00 one, which in the end was full as well, all 5 servers... But the problem is that I still haven't figured out FFB setting for my CSL DD that would feel really good :-/

LFM also had some problems yesterday with AC server attacks… the 4pm race I was due to run got ruined, and I believe the following Le Mans race got cancelled too. But yeah, these Mazda races filled up very quickly with 125 sign-ups. I’m gonna try Le Mans later this week

Yeah, I’m really excited by this development. If these early grid sizes can be maintained, that we’ve got a good thing going! No setups used in this race, I just raced the car as it comes with default. I never really bother with setups as I don’t have the time to invest in practicing and tweaking.

Thank you mate! Yeah, if AC takes off on LFM, I’d definitely recommend it. As it’s an older title, you can usually pick it up for less than the price of a coffee on Steam. Well worth a try. Same with ACC… worth looking in the Steam Christmas sale when it launches… likely be some good deals on the sims!

Hi Chris, how do find the physics, steering feeling in AC? I tried to play AC some time ago and somehow the game felt like a product from the early 80`s :)

It seemed pretty good to me. I didn’t make any setup changes, and just ran with whatever was default. But it felt really firm. I like a firm wheel. If anything, it was a little too firm! But I much prefer that to it feeling too light!

Graphically AC became very good, why rest use unreal engine is mystery for me, blurred tragedy nothing more with washed out textures, maybe it is case when my first pc was intel celeron 333A and i watched leaps in graphics, but recent 5 years definetly degradation in graphical departmen, except AC, reshade mods and guys like Ilja those are genius !!!

Ahh yeah, but at least that sub is done and paid for, so iRacing is there if you need it. That’s pretty much how I use it… its a good fallback if there’s not much else going on. Really encouraged by this AC development though.

Yeah it’s certainly a little different. I just ran with default ffb for this one, having only just reinstalled. I found it a little too firm, but generally it suited my style fairly well. I’m sure with a bit of tinkering, I can fine-tune it, when I’ve got time.

Yeah, and also SimRacing.gp, which I tried a couple of times. But neither of them ran hourly races in the daytime (at least not ones with high participation levels). I don’t get chance to race at peak times in the evenings very often, so getting an hourly slot through the day on LFM, with full grids, is a big bonus for me 😃

Anything I declare on my channel is purely from a personal viewpoint… I mention in the summary that I have had some great community races in AC, and that continues to be the case. It’s still a top notch sim which has LOADS of racing to offer. But purely from a personal point of view… a full online ranked system with licences, safety rating and progression (basically iRacing without the subscription fees!) is the one thing it couldn’t offer me before. You’re right… we’ll have to wait and see about grid sizes. But currently, there are full grids in the daytime, which is perfect for someone like me who can’t race in the evenings (but not such a big deal for the majority!) 👍

Slower cars, much more cleaner races. It is just where most of the wannabes should be, instead of jumping into 500HP cars and causing crash fests :)
