Making the most of your strategy options within Assetto Corsa Competizione (ACC) could be the difference between a 5th place finish and overall victory.
This is why it’s important to understand the fuel settings within the game. In Part 2 of our set-up guide, I will run you through these options and explain what works and what doesn’t.
In addition, I’ll also go through the tyre options, such as compounds and pressures. These are also critical to strategic success.
One element of the set-up which is more focused on outright speed is the suspension settings, and I’ll explain those to you in this video too.
Watch the video, notepad and a pen are optional but probably advised if you are taking ACC serious, and hopefully, these tips will help you to become quicker over a race distance.
In part three, coming soon, I’ll look at the damper and aero settings in more detail, so subscribe to the Traxion KZbin channel to be notified when the next episode is released. Don’t forget to watch Part 1, where I cover the tyres and electronics.

Just getting into sim racing. Just my own notes: so basically stiffer generally gives less grip and softer yields more grip. More grip at the front means agile turn in but potential for oversteer. Less grip at the front leads to understeer. While grip at the rear leads to understeer upon corner exit and less grip leads to oversteer. Anti-roll bars work much the same way to the wheelrate and bump stops in this regard.

It's unnecessarily mysterious and that's very frustrating. Almost like they wanted to discourage people from playing this sim.

John - Thank you for making the three setup videos. It really helps to demystify a seemingly complex subject that is, well, complex! Specific settings aside, just knowing what they do is a leap forward (I hope) for me. At 67 I am trying my hardest and any small gain is a big accomplishment. Please keep up the good work, This is the best channel I’ve found so far addressing ACC.

Really appreciate the comment Bruce! I have also always found it a complex beast to wrap my head around, and still a long way away from being able to create my own optimal setups from the ground up. But, the more different elements you understand, the easier it becomes 🙂 Glad you are enjoying the content and best of luck with your racing!

@@TraxionGG Here’s an observation. I’m currently in ACC career mode and I can truthfully say my career accomplishments are basically nonexistent, or you could say they suck big time. 16th, 16th, 16th, 16th and so on, always close and slowly learning. I have a rather hard head and a never give up mentality; I simply refuse to quit. Over and over and over again. Then yesterday I came out for a qualy session and somehow had put myself in bonnet view. My world instantly changed. I qualied 2nd and finished an honest 9th! I was sitting lower but made a couple small mistakes that cost me. I was gobsmacked. I hope it continues.

Great channel mate. I've been sim racing for around 3 months now, initially I've copied other people's setups but noticing my tyre pressures when copied were still way off, so after tweaking them to perfection i realised I'm losing out on tweaking other aspects of the car. These videos have really helped me understand what I need to adjust. Thanks bro. Broken down like a pro

about the rear diff, a fully locked rear diff gives you understeer, but better grip on acceleration. open diff, makes your car more nervous (agile?) , but worse traction. An example of fully locked rear is a Kart :) where you have to lean the wrong way to lift the inner wheel to make the kart able to turn efficient :) in real life, its not good to hit the bumpstump, cause it usually upsets your car. I could be wrong with this, but.

Useful video and thanks for taking the time to do these. On bumpstops, at about 10:12 on the video you seem to be adjusting wheel rate rather than the bumpstops. I found this a bit confusing.

Understood everything so far the last part was a hair confusing I’ll just play with it see what it does to figure it out the bump stops and whatnot I’m not spending money on coach Dave setups, I wanna get into IRacing lol that’s expensive and I think my wheel is dying so I’m about to have to buy a new one *( gonna cost me like $2,000usd )* it almost 4 years old and has about 500k+ miles on it *( 804,672km )* probably more a lot more than that actually

Conceptually I'm having a hard time with brake bias... If you have more brake bias, does more weight transfer to the front? If so, isn't that more likely to cause oversteer upon turn-in due to a lighter rear?
@brokentilebench
@brokentilebench 10 ай бұрын
Brake bias will only affect the cars tendency to oversteer/understeer, and will have an impact on your brake temps. The car will always dive forward regardless of brake bias.

The fact that the numbers in the tire slider represent a different set of tires and just below that the numbers in the brake pads represent a different type of pad, and these are in the same menu box with zero explanation is the most absurd thing I've ever seen. My first race, thinking i need to use a new set of pads i plopped in pad 4, because they were new. 20 minutes in i lost all braking ability with absolutely no indication of what had gone wrong. All of these unnecessary mysteries in the setup and the use of terms unfamiliar to noobs make this sim incredibly frustrating. Why does everything have to be a dern secret? It's a snooty, stuck-up, arrogant thing to do to put things you don't explain in the settings and then just tell people to figure it out on their own. Almost like it's the national attitude of snootiness. It took me days to figure out that "wheel rate" meant how soft or hard the springs were. Why they did that? Use what terms you want, but at least have an explanation available.
@jamesmoore7858
@jamesmoore7858 Жыл бұрын
At 4:30-ish "... and this is petty much self-explanatory..." No, it's not. Nothing in this sim is self explanatory. Trying to treat it as self-explanatory means you'll make logical assumptions based on context. If you do that here, or anywhere in the setup menu (refer to my complaint earlier about the brake pads numbers representing something completely different from the tire numbers directly above them), you'll end up making vast errors. Furthermore if it was self-explanatory, I wouldn't need to be watching this video. The setup system is so intentionally misleading and esoteric that I have zero confidence in my understanding of it, even as that understanding evolves. I still am very wary about thinking I understand it correctly even when I think I've figured something out. It really takes away from the enjoyment of the racing itself. As a result, I do not see myself using this sim long term. I'm just holding out at this point until the new Forza drops, and hoping that will somewhat bridge the gap.
