A siwash-style tail-attached hook simplifies fishing vs assist hooks on the nose. Also, a tail-attached hook permits the lure to be cast or trolled in addition to being jigged. Versatility is key. Just try placing a hook on the nose and one on the tail...most fish will be hooked on the tail hook. Capt Pete

To minimise bite offs, i attach 5 or 6 split rings (bracelet) with the last one being a solid ring on the top of the jig and then tie my leader to the solid ring.

The "plastic thing" it stiffens the hook/line attach point to help the hook from turning back toward the line attachment point - also provides a some abrasion protection...

The cord is usually made from Aramid-fibers aka Kevlar. It won't melt up to 300°C. The core is often made from PVDF (Fluorocarbon) it will melt at 175°C. If you set your hot-air fan right, you're safe..

hey dude, nice vid. anyway, your last picture showed your bearing swivel and split ring, but what's the purpose of that solid ring attached to it? i assume you are using a snap swivel at the end of your leader and snap it to the solid ring?

You can use the steam from a hotwatercooker to shrink the tube! It's better for the cord and after you can make a cup of tea ;D

why do jigs have two loops one on each end of the jig? i imagine you can add a treble hook to the other end? that would mean three total hooks for the jig right?

I wish - we don't have many rock piles here - mostly wrecks and oil rigs around here If you get them caught in a wreck - most times you lose them - but we lose them 20 to 1 on fish though t- barracuda, kingfish and wahoo will bite though mono or fluro leader like butter (wire leader seems to reduce the action on the jig too much so we dont use often)

Yes - the glow in the dark ones work well - be forwarned - 600 feet is deep - get a light but strong graphte rod and 16 size reel with braid - it's HARD work to jig at that depth - it can't be done with mono line or a big 20 to 30 class reel you will work youre selve to death...good luck

At 6:45, I’m wondering what the purpose of the “O” ring is for. It doesn’t appear to be attached to the jig. Can you elaborate?
@BlueWaterTactics5 жыл бұрын
thats where you tie the leader..
@ap48025 жыл бұрын
Split ring to jig, o ring to split ring??? Then line to O ring? I think I figured it out... lol thanks
@BlueWaterTactics5 жыл бұрын
you don't want to tie your leader to the split right...might pull off or lose..
@ap48025 жыл бұрын
Right... so the split ring is tied to the jig and O ring added to the split ring. Line is tied to the O ring? Yeah? I’m redoing some jigs and need to add new o rings. This will work.
@BlueWaterTactics5 жыл бұрын
yes thats it.. there are other way to rig them each around youtube and experiment ..good luck

Why not just loop over the rings to attach instead of having to keep it long enough to go over the hook??
