So i think its also very very Good both of them. Helsreach Style was, cause that Guy was a Newbie to Animations etc. He kept his Artstyle although improved with a Team on Angels of Death. This is true, but the shot-callers and bean counters at GW will never do that. They want fans to praise "Games Workshop animations" as opposed to any individual animator. Also there's a substantial amount of malicious greed involved. They want to be the only ones making money on 40k, even if it means that they will make less overall, as long as only GW gets paid from 40K. Their animators get a low budget and a tight deadline as opposed to huge bonuses and public praise. This is why I can never spend another cent on WH40k, unless they revert their bullshit, let the fans do their thing, and pay the animators more than they'd possibly make on Patreon. It is sad cause the above animation is great and Id love to watch it all.

The warhammer ip is a literal goldmine for something like that to happen. When you have such a big fanbase and so many content creators who make content about your ip for free it's any capatalist's dream. It's free advertisement. Approach some of them to make deals and guidelines, have some product placement/actual ads in their videos. It's so simple. But nah, GW storms out the gate with takedowns, legal action and woke shit no one asked for. They make a cash grab with Primaris which was so unnecessary. Many different factions had been neglected in the table top and what do they do? Change the rules and make new models and powercreep for the most popular faction. Greed Short-sightedness A lack of respect for their own ip no integrity. I hope anyone who plays 40k uses 3d printed models or buys them 3rd hand. Let GW bleed until they learn the lesson. Money is the only language big companies understand. When they make a good product without fucking over their fanbase then can people think about investing in them again.

Just a note, the Black Rage is not a result of the Red Thirst. The Red Thirst is a separate gene flaw, and in fact the one the Blood Angels want to keep hidden from the Imperium at large, as unlike the relative honor of the Black Rage (from the psychic backlash of their Primarch's death), the Red Thirst had always been there, and thus a source of shame (and potential for blamming due to being a harmful mutation).

Hey Devil. Did you notice that Kazarion and the Chaplain bounded across the bridge and kept talking guns? Watching it at first, it seemed like movement across the linear hazard (bridge) was slow and put them in the Death Guard's sector of fire for too long. But then again... Astartes can probably tank plenty of rounds in that armor, so short, quick successive bounds might be a viable SOP. Also, IIRC the creator of Helsreach and Angels of Death is a former Canadian Soldier - so this addition of Small Unit Tactics with an Astartes flavor is a nice touch.

It is entirely lore-accurate. Promethium mass-deflagration has been used many times in 40k books as a means to dispose of overwhelming numbers of enemies, or as miles-long jets of terrible fire-melting streams pumped from deep reservoirs as ad-hoc (or not) long range flamers.
@aaroncarter4019 Жыл бұрын
I think there is a note of something not really recognised here that the Chaplain seemingly well knew the sergeant had fallen to the rage and that his abandonment of their mortal allies wasn't truly to save a fellow marine's life but to protect his honour and hide the butchery of loyal Imperials from the record. It's something parts of the community can often mask or overlook because they enjoy their cool heroes but I like that some of these series are including more of these aspects. That the Imperial forces are often cruel beyond necessity and it is so common for even their most 'noblest' of members to focus on selfish personal goals or those of an order over the protection of the innocent, the duties they are charged with and even the very survival of the Imperium. From the sacrificing of other astartes chapters to satisfy battle calculations by the Iron Hands to the abandonment of entire campaigns to chase the Fallen by the Dark Angels, it is a faction rife with interesting flaws that should be focussed on. There's a sense that Chaos is so wholly corrupting, and that is why there are so many rebellions but the more interesting truth to me is that Imperial life is so unendingly poor that any citizen would rightfully take the first opportunity offered to seek better conditions. I do really miss that about the writing as there has been a trend to make the Imperium more wholly heroic.
@andrew3203 Жыл бұрын
They protect more than the honor of one Space Marine, by disposing of the mad Angel, they protect the honor of the Primarch, Chapter and all successor chapters, which would get a bad name if one of their members is found to act as an uncontrolled butcher of allies.

In fact Raphael acts as his Primarch. It was Horus who discovered the curse of black rage when he overheard Sanguinus delivering the deathblow to one of his children. The black rage is the psychic wound that affected all blood angels when Sanguinius died. @@ironduke5058 The Red Thirst is really similar to the Black Rage in that when a Blood Angel goes over the edge, there's almost no chance of coming back, they'll be formed into a Death Company or locked away forever. Another difference is that when one succumbs to the Red Thirst, instead of raving on about being Sanguinius and everyone around you being Horus, you instead pretty much turn into a vampire whose only thought is drinking blood of your enemies. Totally agreed! I think this is the best animation GW has done to date! Just the amount of reality stitched into every scene is truly inspiring! I did have THE TINIEST of niggles with the moment at the end where Raphael took his helmet off, though. There is a reason why chaplains helms are different from the standard battle brother's. They are expected to become MORE than human, even in the eyes of their fellow Astartes. It's something that is imperative to their roles as spiritual leaders. As a result, its actually a rule that chaplains are not allowed to remove their helmets unless they are only in the company of other chaplains or captains. Anyone below that rank needs to see them as this literal embodiment of death! There is a bit of me that can excuse it, though, because in the main series, they established that Raphael has been with Kazarion even before he was a neophyte. So it's very possible that he broke protocol with Kazarion but wouldn't have with any other marine.

The animation of this is a lot more smooth and crisp, and a lot less stiff and clunky. I know it's difficult to accurately depict how quick and smooth an astartes can move, but this definitely got closer. If I had one criticism of this, it's they don't get right how a space marine charges. Instead of running like how you or I would to charge charge someone, they do an odd skip-push, where they push down on the ground with one leg to propel themselves forward, then do so with the other leg, which allows them to quickly and forcefully cover a lot of ground to get to their target, similar to how a sprinter comes out of the starting blocks.

THIS WAS F@CKING AMAZING!!! SO MANY FREAKING AWESOME THINGS!!! I think my favorite part was seeing Chaplain Rafael again, he was just one of my favorite characters from the other Blood Angels series, aside from Ancaeus and Kazarion. I think the other thing I loved the most was seeing their faces. Kazarion does look really young here and it makes me wonder if Orpheo is still a Sergeant or Lieutenant. I remember seeing Kazarions face when he entered the chapel before leaving to serve with the death watch and how he didn’t have any scars on his face but seeing this is just amazing and it was awesome to see Rafaels face too. It honestly makes me wonder how long Kazarion has been a Space Marine. I’m hoping we get to see more episodes like this and other characters like Tiro and Ancaeus. Freaking amazing job man!! This made my day💯

Astartes will always fascinate me, while their mutilated psyches do struggle to comprehend the madness around them it also shields them in a way with their clarity of purpose. They are monstrous teenage creatures living and dying n the most hardcore power fantasies.

Interesting to think about how power armor changes infantry combat. If you're in a suit of it, you are as much a walking tank as an infantryman. So here they are doing a break contact drill not unlike what real world infantry might execute in this situation, but an equally viable option would have been to stay in a line and just slowly move rearwards while shooting, because their armor can probably take the hits while putting out a higher volume of fire at the same time

This feels and looks more like a successor to Helsreach than Astartes. Similar looking animation style to it, similar pacing and story telling style, voice actors also feel similar, but that last one might be a stretch.

I’ve been a fan of Warhammer, both types, since I was a 17 year old college freshman, and was introduced to the Warhammer 40k universe by Space Hulk, the board game (I got the computer version when it came out, a bit later). From there, my friends and I got into the world of miniature wargaming, and had some truly epic battles, with improvised terrain features, sometimes on a pool table, other times a large dining room table, and for the largest battles, on the carpeted floors, in the largest rooms we had access to. Even now, at 51, I still look back at those days as some of the best times my friends and I ever had. I am so happy to see that the game has grown in popularity, and that it has successfully made the transition to animation, and soon, with Henry Cavill, live action. He is one of us, and I have no doubt that he will do everything possible to stay true to the source material. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for making these videos. Through your efforts, a whole new generation, that might have been daunted by the sheer volume of information, gets an easy to understand, enjoyable, but still educational, introduction to the 40k universe, without missing any of the finer points. Keep up the great work, and I’ll see you in the next video.

I wish they did more to disringiush fighting between chaos space marines vs everyone else. They just stand out of cover, firing their weapons and getting the same amount of suppressive fire as they do any other faction. It feels SW’s stormtrooper-ish. Imagine if when they faced their evil counterpart space marine they were more intensely in cover, had to move much more, and imagine a scene where a BA poked his head out and was just savagely suppressed fire by his evil, equally skilled+demon energy counterparts!! Just some sort of different ranges engagement to visually demonstrate that these are effing space marine ex-brothers. You just run from cover-to-cover regularly? Well you better smoke before moving cuz these guys got your aim and were trained like you (somewhat) mother fu#*er!!!!

Oh absolutely! When they provide the money, workforce and time to an animation to make animation improvement within a decent timeframe ..they are to be commended .... It shows an improvement somewhere and hopefully that improvement encourages more viewership and money for the animators .... However we have to remember how they took an Astartes sequel away because of this and stunted community freedoms ... Instead of subscribing to a service I would rather be able to purchase seperate collections or individual videos ... Just to have them in my collection..sent on memory sticks that increase in price dependant on the GB required ..able to watch them whenever ...forever ...

No need to ruin an epic narrative for such a cheap postmodernist twist
@ZiGGi03 Жыл бұрын
How would it ruin it ? Do you think it’s going to go down the way everyone thinks ? No Dan Avnet said you will see the end from a few perspectives so just like how propaganda works it most likely won’t go down the way everyone thinks . And personally I hope it does . They all loved sanguineus so it would make sense them wanting to save Sanguiniuses reputation and use him as a beacon a sign for good in the universe. I highly doubt it’s going to be sanguineus broke the armour of Horus then sanguineus dies then the E comes in then sees he’s not able to turn him back then vaporises his soul . Yeah I know and understand a lot of people have a close relationship to this version of events . I think it’s more than likely we’re getting new lore as after this point the scowering books will be next but after that point the whole imperium changed . I only think it’s not going down the way we have been told as we know about the imperium and the eclesearchy they lie and put out certain narratives . I think the Sanguinius heel turn is a likely if not highly plausible if not then another version of events .
@ДокторЯдо Жыл бұрын
@@ZiGGi03 Dude. We are talking about events that never happened, about work of fiction. And here we have two narratives: one is what we know and love, because it's a culmination of apocalyptic struggle and reminds us on myths; another is worthless on its own, because all it does is ruining the first narrative to "sUbVeRt eXpEcTaTiOnS". It lacks climax. It lacks emotional component. It takes away from struggle. It trashes at least one character with established qualities. Now, I don't say Abnett or someone else cannot go this route, but any author who would, shouldn't be allowed to tread near Warhammer. Just a question: did you enjoy the new Star Wars trilogy from Disney?

You hit the nail on the head bro it’s all budget restraints they aren’t spending as much as they should on their properties… I for one am extremely happy for anything That GW puts out, there’s so little 40k content that I’d watch anything ! And be thankful that it came out! But don’t worry guys if the 40k project on Amazon prime pops off , there will be tons and tons more 40k shows & content. It’s not broken through the mainstream yet. I am wishing big but I’m hoping 40k gets it’s own universe on Amazon like , GoT , Marvel , DC, etc… the story is there the content is there and there’s 30+ years of it. They just can’t blow it…

Everyone seems to forget the books say that space marine power armor makes a ton of noise, even likened to that of a tank, witb whirling, growling, and engine humming.
@dj11o9er Жыл бұрын
And plenty of 40k media showcases the noise made. Of course its mostly the footsteps as seen in bits like 40k Space Marine and Astartes, but its still noise made by the armor

@@dj11o9er Never once seen anything where they made remotely any noise and if they do it's nothing like the books described or what i said. The best about the Death Guard marines was the fact that they decided to not cover them up in mouths & tentacles like the miniatures. Less is more.
@someidiotnamedtricks6397 Жыл бұрын
I'm a big death guard fan and I agree a lot, even as (forced) worshippers of the plague god; it doesn't feel like it makes sense for them to have so many mutations as they are always at their best when they have very little in fact, though there are certain situations where it does make sense at least for me. Like the not death guard who was allowed to join them and if I recall he has a arm or weapon that's sorta like a tentacle

I have haphazardly, and out of order, watched this series, so forgive me if there is lore I’m missing this comment… The way I look at the deathwatch lore… in addition to insane rage-ers, individuals who cannot play as a team, etc, they also recruit dudes who are just SO BADASS that they just plainly don’t belong on a battlefield of masses and are specifically tailored to carry out suicidal, immense skill-relying, missions… you are a badass. To then survive all that AND return to your original chapter (something I think that never happens), in some way or another, is next level, named character badassery 🤟🤟😎

I love listening to lore on 40k. I believe I heard somewhere that nurgle and related forces have kinda a big brother mentality when it comes to defending their weaker forces and exacting retribution for what they perceive as cruelty after all they are bringing nothing but 'gifts'. I think the starting scene when the space marine with the skull helm crushes the fly could be seen both as a rejection of the blessings of pestilence and blatant provocation. It was a really great scene.
@toddolson4614 Жыл бұрын
I liked the video in overall. But a few questions/thoughts: 1. Chaplin using bolt pistol on bridge - waste of ammo at the distance. 2. The stomping/hydrolic sounds - there are too many times in the lore discussing marines stealthy movements. I have always imagined the space marine use of the armor to be silent and fluid, not stompy and loud. Now Thunder Warriors I would expect their armor to be more stompy and loud.
