I’m a huge Mario fan, but my 5 year old has gravitated towards Astro way more. The timers in Mario games are probably the main reason why. You can’t take your time and really explore. Astro is overall much more kid friendly.

Astro Bot is designed on one of the most powerful consoles ever made, super mario odyssey was designed for a tablet, and super mario galaxy 1 & 2 were designed for the nintendo wii, nintendo reigns superior for how they push their hardware to run amazing games, but astro bot I still loved and enjoyed and one of the best games and it is a huge feat being compared to the best mario games

@@snowy10r i actually liked astro bot in vr the most it pushed the platformer genre in a way we have never seen before with that said with the new astro bot i love it but if you played it for vr the bosses where giants everything was nicley done and best thing of all it didnt make you sick i think that has been the best vr experience by far and the things they implemented there where very immersive for you through the helmet and the controller and viewing angles meanwhile the new astro bot you get the immersive experience only through the heptic feedback its cool but it didnt wow me and as far as mario its cool its a matter of opinion i know people that hate mario games and other who like it i think its deeply rooted in my child hood and seeing it changed through the years in so many ways its what im giving it credit for

The power of the console sure helps with the insane level of polish. And the controller helps with the overall feel of the game. But regardless of those, purely judging on gameplay, it’s still a million times better than the 3D Mario games

Its a really good game and unique due to the dualsense controllers functionality, but I wouldnt necessarily put it above Ori will of the wisps. They're both very different as one is 2d and the other 3d but ori does some amazing things tbh, for what it is, and its also a beautifully stylized and designed game as well.

Mario Odyssey is far ahead of astro bot. Not even a debate. I couldn’t let go of the game for 1 minute when I first got Odyssey. After 30 minutes of playing astro bot I got bored. It has great graphics but repetitive gameplay.

I haven’t played this game so can not be fair but by simply seeing footage alone it looks like it takes lots of ideas from Odyssey but I think the character is less charming than Mario, kind of sterile looking and the environments don’t POP as much as Odyssey imo but it looks like a good time though so it’s definitely a game I want to play.

I agree with this. The minute to minute gameplay is much more engaging and the game overall is better paced. I think Mario as a character controls SLIGHTLY better mainly because of his deeper move set, but 100% Astro Bot is the better game. It’s just an exhilarating experience and I haven’t said that about a 3D platformer probably… ever.

You trippin. Astrobot is fun in short bursts but I can't put hours into this game like I can with Odyssey or even galaxy. Mario has much more depth, not just in controls but world, characters, and I think the levels are better designed and way more challenging. Astrobot never really gets difficult. I personally think crash 4 is also better than astrobot.

@@mania4270 their apples and oranges Mario is going for large open levels most times with alot of exploration but honestly they get MEGA tedious to replay for extra moons and stars, where as Astro uses more linear design but with tons of nooks and crannies to explore, it does a better job at hiding its bots in a more fun way that while often also being hidden by more "challenging" bits of platforming are often really fun still. Another issues with m64 and oddysey is their levels DRAG were as Astro is brisk in its pacing (hence why someone else said moment to Moment) while still having fun well designed levels with tons of nooks and crannies, all this mind you while also having INSANELY tight controls, great Use of Haptic feedback with its controller (better than oddysey there tbh), tons of Charm and personality, tons of refinements of old games ideas and a fun ost

@@RocketSlime yeah but that's all technical stuff, I don't get fully immersed in the world of Astro bot because it all feels like an ad. A fun playable ad that's well designed, but I don't really care for the bot or the world it's involved in. I get its ship is a PS5 but what is the green alien guy representing? He's just a cliche designed alien taking parts from the PS5. Its universe typically just doesn't have any verisimilitude to it. I don't even know what any of the enemies are called or anything really, while Mario, ratchet, crash, etc I can name different characters, items, land masses, etc that are unique to those games. So while I applaud Astro bot for it being a technical showcase of what 3d platformers could do with modern hardware, but without verisimilitude, that ends up being somewhat of a negative towards it. It's just an expensive technical showcase of what modern hardware could do to 3d platformers.

Ladies and gentlemen: 1,5 million sold Astro Bot units from September 7- November 3. The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom: 2,58 million sold in 5 days. What a gigantic surprising "Mario killing sucess" that was!! No, jokes aside: I think even the most die hard fanboys accept the fact, that 1,5 million in ~2 months+ is everything but not a something one would call a sucess, let alone "Mario Killer". If Mario Kart 8 on WIIU, the biggest flop of Nintendos homeconsoles was able to move 1,2 million units in 1 week, i would expect much more from a so called "AAA Jump'n Run" on the PSfucking5!! Sorry but that was not what Sony and their fans hoped for...
