Actually, Leo's main traits should be: powerful, courageous, temperamental, fierce, aggressive, proud, fiery, and solitary sign. And if people hurt our ego, we hurt them back...just like a lion. Any comments about certain nationalities are made in jest. At this lecture there were many Persian attendees who regularly attend. You are very right about other factors that influence one's character such as the Ascendant. If you hear the Introduction, and the other lectures on Astrology there is mention of those influences, which also explains why people sharing the same sign may still be very different in some key areas. In a one hour lecture it is difficult to cover all aspects of Astrology.

Not everyone is 100% typical of his/her Sign. The Rising Sing makes a big difference, as well as other elements in one's chart. The general tendency, however, is for the Sun Sign to impart the main character, not necessarily the outer personality. One's essence, or Individuality (Sun Sign) contains his/her mission and what drives or motivates them in life. Anger is a characteristic that can appear in any Sign, but is accentuated more in certain signs as a result of their "overall" temperament.

Sorry Dude, I'm leo(08-07). You don't know much about leos. You like to talk about it, but not much of your monologue "hit the spot". Yes, we are not timid people, we do take charge, but we do NOT steal someone elses ideas. It would be beneath our dignity, and our dignity is very, very important to us. Besides, we value fairness, and giving the credit, where credit is due, would give us more respect (and we love that) than stealing somebody's idea. Yes, I never was a good "team player". I either work by myself, or I don't work at all, Its because when I do something, Im putting lots of effort to do the best job I can. Usualy, boss is impressed with my work, and thats when I 'm claiming all credit for myself. I DON'T STEAL IT. It is true we like to look good and wear nice clothes, but, I do not buy it because it's expensive, I'm doing it because of it's quality. That is what makes it expensive. I do not keep price tag on my clothes just to show how much I've spent on it. I also dont mind spending more money than average, on my wife's good quality clothes. I don't mind being rude and abrasive to other people. Particularly to those, that show no respect to me or my family. (I could give some graphic examples of that to back up my claim). I'm polite and respectful to everyone else. It's because I want to show to the first ones that I don't take their crap and they can not itimidate me, and to show the respect to the rest, because it builds my dignity. Sagittarius Rising, although a Fire element, is different from Leo in many ways, which is why Rabbi Kin advises to listen to the lecture on one's Rising Sign. Whether one is an introvert or not can be very much influenced by the position of the Moon since the Moon has to do with Temperament and Mood. Wearing expensive or more modest clothes can be greatly influenced by one's upbringing, Religion, and certain influences in one's chart that temper the need for attention or desire for glamour. This lecture series cannot go into great depth of the "full" makeup of one's individuality. There are too many components. It was mainly geared to give an idea of the potential areas that a "typical" Sign may need to work on from a Jewish Perspective. Please see "description" under the title of the lecture. So inevitably you will hear much of the negative that can potentially exist in the various Signs. However, Rabbi Kin certainly does point out much of the Positive as well.

My mom was Leo, although I loved her to death and still wish I had her, I am 73 today and she passed in 1983, realize that she was kind of controlling. She was also negative, didn't think that well about future in artistic careers. I am a born artist. She tried to discourage me from becoming an artist. I regret that attitude. But besides that she was a hard worker, good with her children, but not tolerant. She just loved her children because they were her children. She liked to keep a good image of herself and her family, even if not true. I was young and naive. She could be very violent. My Dad was Aquarius, not a good match, a love, hate relationship because she never understood my Dad. I believe that's the reason my family was dysfunctional. My siblings were mostly all the signs in the horoscope and I was the misunderstood one. The youngest of 7, was loved by them on their own terms, I always felt caged in, now I am free from all of them.

All you have to do is ask nicely. You must be a real Leo or a Gemini. Astrology of character is completely permissible and acceptable in Judaism. What you are referring to is the Astrology that deals with fate and destiny - which is a totally different subject which the Torah says a Jew should stay away from. You can listen to other lectures by Rabbi Kin, especially about "Mazal" where he clarifies this. And yes, much of what he is quoting is from Linda Goodman's excellent book Sun Signs.

It is a shame that Linda Goodman receives no credit for her imaginative heartfelt expressions and sentiments that are being read word for word in the better parts of this oration, surely it is not permissible to exclude her name and authorship from these tutorials which are not simply borrowing from the works of Linda Goodman, they literally are the work of Linda Goodman. I am sure she would be turning in her grave at this plagiarism. I wouldn't be too sure that the scriptures would include any form of astrology in any form of acceptable worship

You don't seem to read all the replies to your comments. Rabbi Kin has given credit "numerous times" to Linda Goodman and even recommends her book "Sun Signs." This series on Astrology is not about Plagiarism. Rabbi Kin has lectured on Astrology for over thirty years and quoted from many sources. He has said clearly that for descriptions of the Signs he prefers the real life examples Linda uses. In this series, however, he "also" includes additional information from Judaic sources, as well as his own personal experience.

Leo is ruled by the Sun and most astrologist and occultist connect the sign of Leo to goodness and life,while this rabbi is spewing straight hatred and everything foul and negative on Leos. The Rabbi clearly stated many times that he used Linda Goodman's real life examples for this series since, according to his experience, she has done the best job in describing the Sun Signs. He even recommended her book Sun Signs. Your quote of Leos "stealing other people's work" is from Linda Goodman. Many of the weaknesses in character that these lectures present are not present in every Sign, but potentially can exist in the weak ones. You are using the Greek Astrology which does not make sense being Jewish. There is a Jewish Astrology using the 12 sons of Yakov for 12 months of the year. If you are using Greek Astrology, you have to take into account the planets and asteroids. Leo is as you explain only if your 'Sun' sign is in your first house. If the 'Sun' and other major planets are not in your 1st house, then what you explained about the Leo is completely different. If the major planets are in the 12th house, then Leo will be quite different than what you are talking about.
