This one can likely keep a higher Turbo Boost compared to the Pixelbook Go hence the better performance over that one.

In future Chromebook reviews, I'd love to see how they handle Shadow PC service + Oculus Link (or Virtual Desktop) for VR gaming. No doubt they'd have to have 2 full service USB-C ports like this Asus model to charge the laptop & Quest at the same time.

Are you planning to do a review on Motile laptop from Walmart?

In the settings on Steam for Linux, there is an option to enable support for windows games through proton. Not sure how well it will work on this chromebook, but it is still an option.

Would you recommend this or the HP x360?

I HAVE THE SAME QUESTION LMAO
@ZZ-dv9oo2 жыл бұрын
I have this one and my brother has the x360. This ones has better performance and its very lightweight. X360 feels a lot heavier but has a touch screen. It boils down on whether you prefer a touchscreen or performance and portability.

@@ZZ-dv9oo Hi, can you tell me if the speaker quality is good, and loud? And can you make the screen a nighttime orange filter? You happy with yours? Thanks a bunch.
@ZZ-dv9oo2 жыл бұрын
@@daysjours speakers are great, even on the chromeunboxed review they pointed out. Nightlight is a feature of ChromeOS so yes, you can enable it, I actively use it on mine. I'm quite happy with this machine. Linux performance is decent and battery life is amazing. The only downside I found is on ChromeOS itself, namely, the lack of proper client for other cloud services than Google drive. If you are can work fine with cloud services on the browser then you'll do fine. To overcome this limitations I use chrome remote desktop extension to access my desktop PC at home and can work happily using my Chromebook as a thin client.

Aren't the recent reviewed ryzen laptops much better deal than something like this? The price seems the same, but you are getting a much more faster and feature rich laptop

can it run plex and trans code?
@JW-be8wf4 жыл бұрын
Chromebooks can run Plex via browser or the Android app. The m3-8100Y chipset has Intel QuickSync built in so yes, it should be able to transcode. I would however use it as a Plex client and not a server. There are better options for a Plex server.

Any chromebook should start with 128GB of storage. We have Linux and Android right now and if they want to make Steam available in any chromebook, even 128GB won't be enough.

so many things you cant do why not just run a cheap windows machine it can run chrome browser just great
@JamesThompson-oz8kh4 жыл бұрын
You may not understand Chromebooks. The biggest myth is that they are just web browsers with a keyboard. They are much more than that.
@AllMyHobbies4 жыл бұрын
James Thompson i have a pretty good understanding of them I just don’t get it like if you wanted a limited device I prefer an iPad and if you want something that can do anything grab a Windows PC what can a Chromebook to the Windows PC can’t.

A Speedomter 1.0 benchmark of 139 I think it was is very impressive to me, considering I've only owned under-powered Chromebooks that test no where near that. I have pledged to never again buy one with a slow processor and a poor screen.

I'm not a fan of Chromebooks because I'm a gamer. A Windows PC with the same specs can play a lot of classic and low end games Chrome or Linux can't.

Lon, may I ask you call out Google to get third party developers to fully support Android apps on ChromeOS? It's been over 2 years, and besides Google Play Movies and Disney +, NO Android app streams above 720p or downloads. Netflix does 720p, VUDU, Movies ANywhere and others do 480p streaming or downloads from the app. Also, while Disney+ does do HD no issue, at launch it supported external SD cards, but now it does not. We need to have this better implemented, as even the Chrome browser can't do 4K Netflix at ALL, and Google worked closely with Samsung on the upcoming Galaxy Book which has a 4K AMOLED panel that unless they fix all of this, is useless! Also, how come Minecraft is in the Play Store but not for Chromebooks at all? Call em out to get this working!
@JW-be8wf4 жыл бұрын
All 4k Netflix content is H.265 and there is no browser support for HEVC/H.265 in Chrome or Firefox. I believe Safari on Mac OS can play HEVC files. It has to do with licensing. H.265 licensing is a cluster F*** compared to H.264. That is the biggest reason for its lack of adoption. By the way, I dont think there will ever be any HEVC support for Chrome or Firefox. Google is likely going to push AV1 and the rest will follow.

This is another reason I like Windows better. Always better multimedia support.
