theyre great if you have the few grand to buy one .. back in the day, or being poor if you will, we had to use alcohol or a can of air sprayed upside down to freeze a spot . in this case i would have taken it outside or tossed into freezer for 5 mins to help find it with thermal cam . i couldnt see it till it was pointed out to me, he has better eyes lol

Wow Alex, what a dedication to your craft, working way pass your time to go home, am learning a lot from you, the way you go thru your process of elimination without even knowing what might be the bad component to triple confirming the bad component before replacing it, it does take time to get it fix, for me that's what I've learn, sometime it take me hours, but you are a great source of inperation, thank you so much, good job on this one.

Love your enthusiasm every time you repair a job whether simple or complex... Some of your techniques have been very helpful on trouble shooting some of my issues. Great work and on this laptop motherboard very good eye in finding that discoloration because I wouldn't have found it! I purchase 3 lots of the Amtech Flux but the code didn't work. All good though. I'd buy so much more from you but unfortunately the shipping costs are killing us in Australia. Hopefully customs here won't hold onto the flux for long. Thank you again for what you do.

Hi there , for inject voltage how do we know to which side of the component we have to connect the red probe of Dc power supply ? does it matter ? or we can inject to any side of short component ? thankyou
@therealb888
@therealb888 2 жыл бұрын
@@kikihun9726 yes, also in case we have shorted rail, we can inject on any side. If not it shouldn't be hard to trace the polarity and inject.

Another point is you have to start low & no more than 1V because if there's a short to the CPU power rails you could do irrepairable damage.

Hmm...we need to make a mount for the Thermal camera that will allow it to attach to the microscope mount. So that it can attach to the left or right side of the microscope. That would free up a hand for you when looking for a hot spot. I guess the Thermal cam could have it's own arm to hold it as well, But I figure you do not use the thermal and the microscope to look in different places. You would be looking at the same area on the board with both I would think. And if you did need to move it to a different place the attachment can be made to easily release the Thermal cam from it.

I just bought my first cheap solder/hotair station from amazon. It's a fairly cheap Chinese one but seems to work only bad reviews say the air wand burns out quickly. Model says LRT 2018D+, bought it to try to fix a new 48v ebike charger that just always says "full" even when not. Will not charge. I seen some shorted caps among other issues on the board. Gonna take apart old boards of stuff i dont care about but work and try to reassemble to working again before moving the caps and stuff on the charger...

Because he is measuring while it is in circuit, connected with other components, if u take out and measure it will not change. He could also check all mosfets on board, then check all capacitors, then check all resistors... test it self lasts 5 seconds per component anyway and u can do it without having 1000-5000$ equipment, no need to use thermal camera and voltage injector but it can help...

@@orion310591RS It is nice to hear some troubleshooting knowledge. Those sneaky caps in the circuit will confuse testers. Schematics help to understand the readings but are very scarce in the microelectronics world.

Hi Alex, on previous videos you normally removed the component, add flux, prepare putting fresh low melting solder, add the new component, press it down, and remove/smooth any extra soldering, then clean the excess flux with alcohol. This time was quick, took out the component and solder back the new one even without adding solder or pass the tip to re-solder well the connectors. I know we always change procedures as we keep learning in our life, what works yesterday not necessary will work tomorrow. Any special reason to change your previous procedure?

Hello, Noob question: I assume that in order to remove the component one would pre-heating at +- 200 degrees Celsius the area with a big nozzle and in a circular motion with a low fan speed for 1min?...then raise the temperature to +-400 degrees Celsius to heat for +-20sec while still making circular motions? And then trying to remove it... I need to find old pcb boards to practice... thanks! :). [Nice job as usual :)]
