I'm old enough to remember disco in the late '70s. It was fun, and you could get laid, but I don't want a mirror-ball or a smoke machine in my computer. Apart from that, this is pretty much exactly what I want. I plan to get an R9-3950X about Christmas, and a 2TB M.2 drive. Video ... haven't quite decided there. I want to spend maybe two hundred Australian, not two thousand. I'd strongly prefer an AMD GPU to go in my AMD Linux system. A Radeon 7 would be nice, but $.... They're getting ready to bring out mid-range and maybe low-end NAVI cards, and one of those might tick all the boxes. What do I do with that? Daily driver, Linux host (Mint) and VirtualBox + 3 Windows guests and about a dozen Linux installs. I like to compile a kernel here & there. Do I need all that power? No, I don't. The 6700 I have now is perfectly fine, but ... you want a Ferrari, don't you? Not a 4 cylinder Commodore... It's a boy thing. I want a V4 Ducati, not a CB125 or a posty-bike.

For my need this one was the best deal, considering also the local prices. Overall it has most features: eight 10Gbps USB3 gen2 ports, cheap for having two network cards with wifi, max sata ports, lots of PCIe slots, good VRM... And two M.2 ports are ok for me, because if there were three, then it would lose 2 sata ports - so I was reading.

It doesn't have onboard power and reset buttons and ASUS having just 2x M.2 ports is a downside. Also VRM and chipset heatsinks could have been done much better.
@giovannip.1433
@giovannip.1433 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for filling in some of the gaps about the MB I bought. I justified the MB because of the heatsinks and the extra 2.5Gbit LAN. The nvme heatsink balances my cheap Crucial 1TB nvme which has negative reviews on 'overheating' - but is half the price of every other Nvme SSD of the same price. The only downside is that AMD doesn't natively support RAID 5 - Which I'd have preferred to have run rather than RAID 1 to protect my data further.

Think I got my 1680v2 for around 150 usd and same for the Asus iv rampage extreme. While others paid over 300 usd for each. X79 just not worth it at those prices in comparison.

I always appreciate mainboard reviews and hope there'll be more coming. But: Even initially you state that the VRM on this boards is close to the top-end boards on the platform. Actually, though, this board uses close to the same VRM than the 200 dollar Asus boards (TUF X570 Gaming Plus, Prime X570 Pro). Only the SoC VRM is slightly more beefy on this one. The Crosshair boards are only a bit more expensive (depending on region, of course, but still) and feature way better VRMs. I mean, yeah, sure, all of these boards will handle the most high-end Ryzen 3000 CPUs, boards are really a huge step-up from previous generations in that regard. I still think that it's misleading to state that these are top-end VRMs, because they really are not, when put into the context of its generation. Take the X570 Taichi by comparison: It uses the same VRM than the Phantom Gaming X model, so it basically is the best that ASrock offers. I would recommend talking to Buildzoid in this regard, if you want to improve your reviewing there.

Sotiris Triantoulis I got mine for 279.99 because of the bundle deal at microcenter. It’s pretty good, and had all the features I need and more. The lighting is a problem though because the aura software makes certain games think you are running a cheat. The labeling and placement for some things on the board were kind of weird, but could just be because i’m a first time builder and things are confusing. I`m really torn - looking to upgrade, i usually upgrade once every 4 years. I`m between 8700k, 9700k and 3700x. I mostly game on my pc. Which will be more "futureproof" ? I looked at about 20 reviews, tests, and cannot make up my mind. At the moment it seems that between the 3, the 9700k is the best @gaming, but..as games seem to be more optimized to use more cores, do you think the 3700x is a better deal ? Prices are about same over here, about 400 euros for the 8700k & 9700k, and 370 euros for the 3700x. HELP :))

Might be a bit of a random question on your video but it is driving me insane at home. In the video you show temperatures on CPUID HWMonitor, i have exactly the same TMPIN's showing up and i wish to ask if you know what diode TMPIN4 is. I have been looking all over the internet to find a answer and so far i got none. Hope you find time to give a answer, would be nice to know what i am dealing with since it randomly goes up and down between 85-94 degrees C.

I think you should go into bios and change display settings. Possibly you are on integrated GPU. Change it to PCIE GPU. To go into bios, start your PC while holding F1 button on your keyboard. And watch this video how to change display (IGPU and PCIE). kzbin.info/www/bejne/mH_YiY2klrmab7c Display settings start at 0:37 sec
