ROG STRIX X570-E the complete REVIEW!

This is by far the most powerful, over-featured STRIX motherboard I have ever reviewed. The ROG STRIX X570-E comes with not only the X570 chipset latest PCIe 4.0 standard, but it also boasts an unprecedented VRM setup.
Asus went out of its way to equip it with a QLED Error screen , a flash back button and almost a dozen of USB ports! Features we usually see on the more expensive Crosshair series.
This is the superlative of its generation, but beware. Superlatives don't come cheap!

Thank you for your thorough reviews. I was set on the ROG Hero VIII x570 until I watched that review, which guided me to this Strix review. For my needs, the Hero is overkill compared to the Strix. Very nice video. I'm a noob, to building computers, but I'm very tech instinctual. I believe you just sold me on this board. Was leaning this way, but was split between this one, and the MSI MPG X570 GAMING PRO CARBON. I believe the Asus ROG Strix X570-E, coupled with a 3700X is my best fit, for my needs. Now just need to figure out what sort of cooling I want to go with water or air. I'm not going to be doing any overclocking. But will have multiple devices Plex transcoding 1080p video streaming, while simultaneously using the computer for watching plex, workstation, art studio, Adobe Ai, blender, etc.

hey man, is there a difference between the x570-E and the x570-F (besides wireless wifi)? I looked over the details on the website myself and found minor differences like lesser ports (that I dont even need). If the F version is the same as this one (besides the less ports and headers), would you recommend it over the Aorus x570elite, as they're the same price in my region

go to an MSI x570 ACE. I bought it and it's great, also they give you a 100 dollar liquid cooler as gift registering the motherboard

I would stick for a Strix the VRM is simply overkill, even for a 3900x. But if MSI is doing a 100 bucks water cooler gift.... that would trump it all!

I recommend you to watch the channel 'actually hardcore overclocking', great stuff about motherboards and the technical aspects @@Laurentschoice the VRM of almost any 300$ plus x570 mb could handle and OC a 16core with ease. So, in my opinion, going for an even better vrm has no sense and I start looking other features

um, one question, i see that this board has a 12pin cpu power, but my psu only has a 8 pin cable. is it really needed to use 12 pins for the cpu to work, because Ive read that the extra 4 are needed only for extreme overclocking (which i wont be doing)

Its there to flash the bios without beeding a cpu for it or even enter the bios at all you also can save on some boards your bios of it got bricked by a bad instalation . You didnt her about it becouse cheap kow budget boards dont have it

The 2 USB 2.0 connectors can each supply 4 USB 2.0 ports, for a total of 8. The Gen 1 connector can supply 2 Gen 2 ports. That seems to be standard with all the X570 boards. What is unique is that the back panel has 7 Gen 2 ports, whereas the competition for some dumb reason mix in some Gen 1 ports. Also unique is that there are no USB 2.0 ports on the back panel for keyboard and mouse. Wonder if they will slow down the Gen 2 hub they are connected. I do like all the Gen 2 ports, but not sure I want to give up the 3rd M.2 socket that the competition has.

the 3rd m.2 port always disables something on X570 mobos, there's a reason Asus went with two m.2s only on this mobo. in Gigabyte's case, it disables two sata ports if you use 3rd m.2 port. In asrock's case, it disables the last PCIE x16 slot completely if you use it. MSI can get away with it, because they are only doing 4 sata ports on their X570s, which I think is TOO little for an expensive X570 mobo.

I’m going with the Corsair 4000D for my first PC case. On PC Part Picker I was getting a compatibility note stating that the motherboard didn’t have sufficient 3.2 Gen 1 headers so the cases 3.2 Gen 1 type A port will not be useable.

I would put it in the bottom. I always fear heat-bleed from the GPU and early thermothrotlling. M.2 SSD will not reduce GPU lane availability.

One downside, it lacks clear cmos button. It's god damn annoying to fiddle with screwdriver or paperclip to reset the bios when PC has custom loop in it.

The 5700XT won't saturate PCIe 3 speed, so PCIe 4 will bring it no benefit. So I am told by other videos.

Nobody explains these things as clearly as you - love the explanatory graphics.Your reviews shine mate! Good to see someone putting passion into a comprehensive review of these ground breaking boards with PCIE 4.0 as this IS a BIG thing as you say but all we're getting from INTEL is CRICKETS. Really disappointing as I've always been an Intel buyer and never an AMD. Cannot believe Intel had no PCIE 4.0 plans or at least 10nm plans on the horizon. Be interesting to see how long the industry haggles over DDR5 RAM - wonder if AMD will beat Intel to the punch AGAIN? Never thought it possible but I am now more than half seriously considering this board here you've reviewed - not the Skylake I had my heart set upon! Nothing more certain in life than change, they say (or is it nothing more changeable than certainty?) :-) Keep up the exemplary work Laurent - really appreciate it.
