Just got this board along with a 13900k as a long overdue upgrade and wish id not bothered. The temps are insane compared to my old 10900k but using a h150 elite cappelix and i spend more time worried about how hot the cpu is than using the pc.

Its normal. The new 12 and 13th gen CPUs are designed to reach ~98°C no matter what. So a better cooler means better performance.

I just purchased Z790 max. I am trying to understand how to use the audio connectors on the back of the motherboard to connect to a 7.2 AV receiver so I can get full Atmos. But i need to be able to connect from the motherboard directly to the AV receiver. How is this possible. I am using a monitor not a TV so ARC is not possible. If this is not the right place to ask this type of question, where would be the right place?

Do you have an explanation why there is such a big temperature difference on the VRMs between the MSI MPG Z790 Carbon and the ASUS Rog Maximus z790 hero. Is it due to the CPU getting hotter ? Or is it something else ? Between the z790 carbon and the z790 hero, which motherboard would you recommend, without considering the price ? Otherwise great video as always

MSi, I just got this board coming from a z690 msi edge, wish i hadn't bothered as the bios is horrendous and just wants to cook the CPU regardless of what ever i do, went from running a 13900k stock running 80c full load to having it throttle constantly or BSOD 100c with Asus loser board, wish I stayed with MSI

​@@MikeZak101 The 13th gen ones are made to reach a certain temperature no matter what. Intel calls it Adaptive Boost Technology. So, if it doesnt throttle it means the motherboard cant supply it with enough power.

so they give you the Expansion card for two more PCIe5.0 SSD's but you can only plug it into the 2nd slot, and if you have a RTX4090, you will block it's intake fan... or am I missing something?

The difference between 90a and 105a stages is meaningless when at full load each phase will have less than 25 Amps going through them anyways ( say 1.45v X 300W = 435 Amps, divided by 20 = 21.75W each.) Gigabyte just buy slightly higher rated ones as a marketing thing to look like they are "the best"

@@iAmTheJT I had the z370 Hero X (loved it) and bought the z390 Master after that. Never buying a gigabyte motherboard again. I always had issues with their BIOS, Apps, RGB and fans setting defaulting back and losing control of my water pump and its just setting at 1200rpm and not changing. Just ordered the Hero z790 yesterday.

I wish that ASUS would do the performance tweaking and testing for me. I have a general knowledge of what you are doing. ASUS could do this for me in their BIOS settings. With a menu that has the tweaking broken down into Stages. Stage One would be no performance tweaking. Stage Two would be with a very conservative performance. Stage Three would be moderate performance, etc. These stages inform me when I can expect to have trouble with system instability and know when to return to a lower stage.

I have this Hero Z790 Board.... So my new Corsair Dominator 7200 DDR5 keeps rebooting in windows and Blue screening.. If I put the same Dominator 6200 DDR5 in everything works normal as it should. Does this motherboard have difficulties and stability issues with C34 DDR5 7200 Ram? Any help would be very helpful and appreciated thanks!

I have a similar issue, I thought the RAM was defect until I tested one stick at a time and still got the same problem. Not reasonable that both would be defect. I have G Skill Trident Z, CL34 6600MHz. If I activate XMP, it will not POST. If I Activate XMP but down clock it to 5600, it still will not POST. I put it at the default JEDEC standard of 4800mhz (no overclock!), and it still often will not POST. The only way to make if reliably POST is by keeping the BIOS settings at default/auto. It's a damned disaster. And it seemed to get even worse when I updated BIOS to the 0703 version..........

​@@Riiiiiiiiiiiiiip So, i found a Beta version of the BIOS on an overclocking forum, and tried flashing that one. Version 0810. (The latest official BIOS is only 0703.) I can now run the memories at 6200mhz, CL34. That's a huge improvement over being stuck at 4800Mhz CL40! Still missing 400MHz, but at least I have some hope that BIOs updates will fix it, now. I saw some people who hit 8000MHz with that BIOS, even. :P

My currently build it’s dated from 2012 ASUS ROG Rampage IV extreme 64gb ddr3 intel 3970, will post all the spec later on but the currently problem of my pc atm it’s the termals on the mb 3 of them it’s over 100celsius and pc it’s crashing after a while I did clean with isopropyl alcohol all the mobo and still hitting thermal throttle on 3 Phases, I saw some Ali express mobo for the 2011 socket but it’s hurt goes that route on acquiring this knock off mobo, not even sure if it will works. Otherwise the pc it’s fine 😢

Please answer publicly if we have a graphics card that works x 16, does the motherboard have the ability to support SSDs via the PCIE 5.0 port? - there isn't!!! because the Hyper M.2 card works in 5.0 mode only in the 2nd PICE slot, and when there is any card in this slot, the PCIE support for port 1, i.e. the one with the graphics card, drops from x16 to x8 !!!

Well, if a GPU comes out that supports PCIe 5.0, it won't matter because PCIe 5.0 at 8x has just as much bandwidth as PCIe 4.0 at 16x.

The user hearing (reading) this information thinks that he will have a line for the future PCIE 5.0 SSD, and this is not true because having a graphics card (99.99% of users) there is no such possibility even with a Hyper M.2 card.

I have this board and the Z790 Master. The only thing the Z90 Hero has over the Master is the 2 TB4.0 ports on the back io. But the Master does have TB4.0 header on the board if you want to put in a TB4.0 card. I'm sending the Hero back and keeping the Master. With the Z790 range Gigabyte have improved their memory overclocking and also you don't need a contact frame to replace the factory ILM. This is why the CPU runs hotter on the Hero. With the Asus Z790 boards you still need to replace the ILM with a contact frame to help with CPU heat. But contact frames also introduce memory instability issues unless you get the mounting pressure of the contact frame absolutely spot on especially if you are overclocking memory or even running XMP timings. Asus have really dropped the ball when it comes to quality on both the Z690 and Z790 range of boards despite what the fanboys are claiming. If you are going Z690 I would pick an MSI board. With the Z790 I would definitely go with Gigabyte this time round, they really have improved things dramatically and they just work much easier out of the box.
