Stoneybrook Farm Hiker Hostel (1020.1) to Stealth tent site (mi. 1030.8) Another hot day, but an interesting one as well. I started off the day helping collect blueberries for breakfast at the Stoneybrook Farm and hiker hostel, followed up by a great breakfast. We were then dropped off at the trailhead where we met Miss Janet, one of the most famous trail angels on the AT. She gave us some fruit as well as some electrolyte powder for our water. It was just a few miles to the Appalachian Trail visitor center where I signed in as number 728 for the season so far. After that, it was a short walk to downtown Harper’s Ferry where I hit a deli and then hung out in front of an ice cream stand for two hours waiting for it to cool off a little bit. At 5:30 pm I decided to hike another hour and a half or so and then set up camp. I was lucky and found a nice stealth site that was decently flat. Tomorrow it looks like high heat, so we will just play the day by ear and make sure we get enough fluids.
Todays menu: A banana, an extra large snickers, an orange, scrambled eggs, orange slices, an apple, a honey stinger waffle, small bowl of oatmeal with blueberries, small yogurt, chicken gyro with a side salad, a cliff bar, 4 scoops of ice cream, and tons of water with Gatorade mix.

The rocks and rattlesnakes start in Maryland, not just Pennsylvania. Keep your eyes down, no rolled ankles or bites. We loved Harpers. Looks like you did too, at least the ice cream. And PA and NY are terrible for water. Stay hydrated.
