I'm experimenting with adding in icons so you know you can interact with things. Due to the nature of the game, I can't use the standard ones like mouth for dialogue. Almost nobody even HAS a mouth, after all... So I'm trying to think of more abstract ones, with questionable results. A growing problem right now is sounds. I may be making my own models finally, but not my own sounds. Still have no idea how I'd go about doing that and I don't have any real interest either. So I just "borrow" sounds from all over the place, edit them as necessary (sometimes far beyond recognition, that's the most "sound creating" I'll be doing probably), and put them in there. Which leads to a problem when I want a sound and there are none that suit my needs. I actually ended up having less content in this video than intended because I couldn't find a good sound for something.

Willcraft Maybe the symbol for interaction can be a question mark? Or maybe just a curved line? As for sounds. Since I don’t know what sound you need I can’t get specific. But people usually just go outside with a mic and make the sounds themselves and then record it. If you needed the sound of a branch snapping, you’d go outside and record yourself snapping a branch. As long a you know how you want it to sound, you can replicate it.

Kinda expanding on what GlonX said, you can likely use various items around your home if you so wish. People commonly use a running shower as rain for example and you can theoretically start making sounds in an audibly controlled space, put it into Audacity or some other waveform editing program, and have something unique or perhaps something in similar fashion to other sounds you would want.

Problem with these is that it requires a mighty fine mic and probably also a recording area to block out any and all background noise. And that's stuff for someone with dedication, and dedication to sound design I have not. I'm already very hesitant to try my hand at making music, let alone just... sound. It's not my thing. Yet it's an unavoidable aspect of this project, which IS my thing.

Take a crumpled up chip bag and crumple it up some more, and use that sound for when the skeleton slime things move. It would sound like slime and water dripping then, I think

Willcraft Well. Again, I’m not sure what kind of sounds you need. But as long as there isn’t wind in the background and you have Audacity (the sound editing program) to remove background d noise and you should be able to get by. You can always search a few tutorials up on KZbin on how to do sound design. If that doesn’t work: If the game isn’t planned to be a commercially viable product, you could always use assets from another game, such as sounds. If your game was to have an official commercial release at a later date, the sound could always be replaced with something original.

You should really release this game when ur finished with it because I would love to play it and see what’s going on. Glad to see you’re sticking to something despite the depression.

Missed last week’s video sadly, but I’m caught up now. Something I’m slowly noticing is this neat ebb and flow of each character’s, including the players, scope of the world they inhabit. What I kinda mean by that, is in the case of one character, they know more about the world, how it was, how it use to be so much bigger to them, while in other cases like last week’s guy, he knew much about his environment, but barely considers what’s beyond, thus making the world they inhabit feel like it was and is bigger that any one of the characters realized. This is kinda where the dialogue of the player comes into play, because there is this back and forth of information about these people and how as a traveler, you’ve seen a portion of the world outside, but not the world prior to “it” appearing. It’s this nice back and forth about learning the setting that neither one has fully experienced, but they have their piece to it all. The shroud has of the dark environment also plays into this quite well, creating the setting for the conversation of each character’s “piece of the puzzle”. It’s a big world out there it seems. Still quite interested to see what happens in it.

I am digging these speculations you're doing. Just wanna let you know.

You ever play a game or watch a movie where the environment and stuff you saw and story made you wish there was one of those "land and creature" encyclopedia's about it? That's the vibe I get from all the stuff you've shown me. This sense that once you put this world together a big part of the fun will be finding out about it like that.

I'm seriously considering making an official wiki for the game once it's done where I'll write most of the articles myself, maybe even adding info that didn't make it into the actual game. I'm addicted to browsing wikis about stuff I'm interested in, and I'm also addicted to writing, so that seems like a fine combo. Might also be a valid marketing strategy since I'm not the only one who enjoys extensive Wiki-reading...

I don't know. I have ups and downs, so I can never be sure if an up is an overall improvement or just temporary. I'm not in the place I was a year ago, I know that, but I don't know what place I'm at right now.
