Which transport method you think is more fun? The Children's Railway or the Chairlift? Let us know below or share with us if you also had fun at Normafa 😃

When I'm with friends or family introducing them to Budapest, I always try to schedule a day in the Buda hills. So relaxing! Our route is mostly the same as yours; we usually go up by the fogas (cogwheel tram) to Széchenyi hegy, then walk or take the gyermek vasút (children's railway) to János hegy and the Erzsébet kilátó (the lookout tower) and then either take the libegő (chair lift) down or walk (also via the Tündér hegyi kőfejtő, the Fairy rock formation) or take the gyermek vasút again to Hűvösvölgy where we then take the rollercoaster tram ride down to Széll Kálmán tér (btw, still Moszkva tér for me, can't get it out of my head, like the names of so many other streets and squares that have been renamed or got their old names back). I have very good memories of Normafa, I learned to ski there as a boy ...

Visited Normafa today. Took the bus up to the entrance of the park, and hiked up to Erzebet lookout. Beautiful park and the view was awesome. We wanted to take the lift, but it wasn’t running due to service (Sept 24, 2024). If you’re in Budapest for awhile and need to get out of the concrete jungle, this is a great place! Thank you for the info Stuffed Cabbage!

Hey there! Happy to hear you went to Normafa! I feel it is often overlooked, but it is easy to get to and - as you wrote - an ideal place to escape the concrete jungle 😊

I would definitely have to try the Children’s Railway! Thank you so much for these videos. I hope to visit Hungary in 2024 and see everything about where my parents were from. Until then I am enjoying visiting the sites with you. Köszönöm szépen. Nagyon sokat tanulok tőled!

Want to try both for sure ! Is the chairlift still operating in December after Christmas? Will it be freezing up there? 😄
@StuffedCabbageAdventures Жыл бұрын
Hey there! According to the chairlifts website it does operate all year round but with reduced times during winter 😀 while Hungary can get cold in winter, it won't be drastically more different on Normafa than down in Budapest, it's not a huge mountain, we Hungarians don't really have those 😀

@@StuffedCabbageAdventures hellow, noted with thanks ! As we’re from tropical country we would love to experience the snow when we visit Budapest in the end of December or early January

@@flyawaydiary Hey there, to be very honest we don't really get much and good enough snow these past years (thanks climate change...). If you wish to experience snow then our Neighbour Austria and the Tatra mountains in Slovakia will surely have some 😊

Interesting area here, a bit outside where you normally visit as a tourist. Good video, just a small thing: would be better with less selfies. Just an idea, not filming yourself so much, maybe? Keep up the good work!

I am Korean but I spent a lot of time in Asia. Asians are too busy and fast. This is Hungary, my 20-year foreign life. Hungary is very lovely and leisurely. The buses are good and the trams are good. But I drive every day because I have to take my child to school. I want to enjoy leisurely Hungary. I love Hungarians who are not busy and enjoy themselves.
