What happens when Pokemon Go's plug is yanked? There will be no backup. Here's what I recommend. If you're a 'dex player, get Pokemon Home and transfer one of everything there to ensure your 'dex lives there. The signs of Pokemon Go just collapsing are all over. There's not backups unless Nintendo takes it over and if they did, it would suck in entirely different ways. So.... Pokemon home is ideal for the 'dex players.

Honestly, the only reason why I keep playing is because I just love the pokemon franchise and now I get to play pokemon while I walk and have that integrated into exercise, but with things like the game nerfing the amount of poke balls you get from stops during events and the remote raid prices, Niantic is really souring my love of the game, I didn’t even buy the DLC for scarlet and violet because for some reason I just thought it would be a let down just like how the company is letting Niantic ruin pogo.

I actually didn't think the S/V DLC was a let down. The terrarium in the Indigo Disc and giving miraidon/koriadon the ability to fly indefinitely was amazing. If you're story driven maybe it won't be as rewarding for you because the story itself is fairly short, but I like completing my dex and exploring in S/V so it scratched my itch for that.

I played becos it motivated me to go out. But i kept it very casual with little to no spending cos Niantic is a disappointment in many aspects of the game...as they said "a lot of the players r casual grandmas". Since that is their view point, then u know that the game will be very painful for hardcore players. So just go with the flow, less expectation less spending less letdown.

I dont play anymore. The last month I have done in everyday 20 minutes catch, done a research and then closed the game and now not been in for days. The remote nerf was bad and now the avatar 🤢 Niantic does NOT deserve to have/hold this game. They dont speak or listen to the players and that's is the main problem. They don't deserve the money we spend in this game.

I think one competitive aspect they could add to Pokemon Go: Contests. They were really popular in Gen 3 and 4 and we're already doing Showcases for the biggest Pokemon so it would be fun to do Contest categories for things like shinies, lucky Pokemon, the best overall for a certain Pokemon in terms of stats and such, etc...

I play because i enjoy the core mechanics and gameplay loop. I've never transferred a shiny and would like to get to a place where deleting them is needed to continue to play. Exp and dust goals always feel super good to hit. I remember thinking i would never hit lvl 40 and now the end goal for me is 1 billion exp. As a lucky collector a full living lucky dex really drives me to catch, trade and grind. I play because i love getting out the house and exercising and pogo is the only real thing that motivates me enough. I play because it's the one gaming thing my wife enjoys doing with me. I play because i'll always be able to play pogo for free because i've put so much time and dedications into it already. I got bored of the main series games after gen 3 and only watched up till gen 5. So pogo is a way for me to experience pokemon in the later and newest gens without doing something i find boring. I play because i'm a shy unconfident guy on the inside, but you would never know that these days because of my love of pokemon go pushing me to be more social and outgoing. I play because i love to gamble and the game is kinda built on RNG and so much of it is free. I play because i'm very lucky to live in a very good area for it without being a city. I play because it's a great way to make friends and network. I've had so many conversation, friends and interactions with all ages i never would have without pogo. And i've been given so many opportunities to do and experience things because of pogo. And i think pokemon go has brought me and my wife closer together.

I play because I like it and also it is a nostalgia feeling probably from when I was a kid watching the show and playing with the cards. Also like to see people that couldn't get a shiny get a shiny it's awesome to see a whole crowd having fun and actually playing a game we all enjoyed at one time . Also to be able to free roam and catch pokemon also getting shinies that didn't have before that what keeps me playing I started 2 years ago and have over 1200 shinies and have over 40 hundos and 6 shundos.

This game single handedly brought me and a local community together, the game has been lackluster lately, but I do enjoy com days and stuff and completing the pokedex, I have got 50 mons left so I don't know what to do next besides level 50

it did the same in our town too. I am a total introvert and changing life circumstances has caused my friend count to slowly shrink over time. But recently I connected our local Pokemon Go players via campfire and now I get out and see actual humans at least once a week and just shoot the breeze with people. I finally understand why bar hoppers find sitting down and chatting people up fun, and it's thinks to Pokemon Go that I get to do that.

i love walking in the street and finding nice things, objectively valuable or valuable to me, like for example an old book, a vintage lamp or a tree with tasty fruits. i love pokemons, so pokemon go gives me more opportunities to find nice things outside while exploring the streets, especially when i find a shiny one

I like you enjoy leveling my buddies, leveling my mega's and collecting shinies. I also really enjoy meeting people and getting lucky trades done but people are often hard to contact/schedule due to life and other things. There's so many good things about Pokemon Go honestly, I even use it when I go for healthy walks so I don't feel so alone haha. But that's just my POV :)

Ever sense I got Pokémon Red on Gameboy back in 98 I've been trying to catch them all, that much hasn't changed. It's the hunt, the excitement when you get that one you've been grinding for. My perfect Tyranitar and Victreebel, the shinies of the same, my decent IV shiny Lucario, each one spuring me on to find the next one. But my biggest motivator currently is the possibility of finally getting Mega Lucario, which is my number one favorite Pokémon period.

I did play in the beginning of Pokemon Go, but I left in 2018 when I had many other things to do. I came back last November, and I still enjoy it. I also think that they added a lot of new and interesting things between 2018 and 2023. Besides, it got me go outside during winter, and I enjoyed that a lot. For me, it's because I've started playing in July 2023, so I'm kinda "new" (already lvl 43). So with every event, it's a lot of new things for me, new shinies to get, etc.

Same here. Started mid December '23 & am lvl 35. Took about 3 months before I met another person doing a route. Haven't yet been able to join a local 4-5 tier raid with others. I struggle to meet people for a few months, and with Campfire, we managed to build a small group, and we are able to be 4-5 and able to do weekend shadow raid. I maintain my POGO account every day catching some pokemons, doing my free raids, running my pokestop, doing my daily quest, walking some km. We play pokemon go at home with several people and do everything together, we can do all raids alone, powering pokemon up to level 50 is really not necessary, we do bet on mega pokemon and have all mega evolutions at home.

Some main reasons why I keep playing currently: I love the Pokemon franchise and am really close to hitting level 50. I also like to hatch eggs, do routes and such while going on walks/runs or just doing errands in town. I'm doing my best to be F2P so I battle and hold a lot of gyms to earn Pokecoins. I like to aquire strong Pokemon for gyms, raids, and PvP. And I li 6:33 ke to earn platinum medals, more specifically trying to achieve the 10,000 km medal and am over 8k at this point, and the medal for best buddies so I've been working a lot on that.

Part of it is because I am a completionist. I have completed my pokedex in every Pokemon game since Gold/Silver (not the remakes, the originals), and Pokemon Go has a dex, so there for I feel a desire to complete it. Thankfully I don't feel so compelled to complete very variety of the dex, but who knows, when I complete the main one maybe that bug will hit me. The second reason though is because it does give me a a bit of a drive to get outside and makes walking around more motivating/enjoyable. I'm a couch potato and I've walked more distance because of something in Pokemon Go than any time before starting the game. So I stick with it for positive health reasons too.

I generally spend about 2+ hours a day outside walking, and PG is something to do while I walk. I like collecting and organizing collections, trying to fill out the dex, and powering up various teams to make efficient work of raid bosses. I don't care for PvP at all. And as far as shundos, I don't have a single one, never caught one in my years of playing, so I just figure I'll never catch one.

I totally agree with your wish to be best buddies, and I am working on that as well. They need to fix their damn AR. It is so frustrating! I walk around with my camera pointing at the ground forever!!! I try slow, try fast, try close, try far, try different textures of ground, try dark, try light! I usually give up after 10 minutes, but why should I have to waste 10 minutes? It's freaking crazy waste of time just to play a game.

Day 1 player here and I *play almost everyday* at least for the 1st catch/spin of the day and research task. I mainly play to complete my pending special research, completing the pokedex (I have everything except the super rare pokemon like Frigibax / Volcarona / newer regional pokemon), community day, research days, and Go Fest (If I'm able to). Like you mentioned I have a lot of great raid attackers so I don't raid as much as I used to. I hate the buddy system as it is very tedious but I'm trying to do it more to finish the Masterwork Research: Wish Granted which requires 10 best buddies. I rarely do PVP as I don't feel like investing in stardust for something that goes out of the meta in a couple of months so I just use my same pokemon I've been using since PVP came out which also gets kind of boring.

So it’s a family thing and using it to get outdoors and for the gameplay aspect, I want to get as many 15/15/15 at any level and complete the Pokédex as I played for 2 months when the game first came out and in 2024.

Hey, Count. I've been saying this for years now, but the issue I see with the game is that there isn't really much for the majority to latch on to. Sure, you have shiny collectors, Pikachu collectors, etc., but there's nothing that you can really do with most of them if you don't PVP. It's all fast food. The solution for me is this, create a new PVE system where you battle evolved forms that spawn in the wild at parks, comm centers, and malls when you use 3-6 different low tier Pokémon. If you win, you'll get a chance to receive premium items like the stuff we get from showcases.

Only been playin 6 months so there's still plenty of stuff that's new to me. Im 70 cells away from 100% Zyguard which is driving me at the minute. Haven't even seen a Rayquaza raid yet, among a ton of other legendarys and Id love to get past level 20 in GBL. So I don't have every Pokémon, stacks of elite TMs or millions of stardust. There's still plenty of things to grind for me.

seems i came too late to the game since it seems almost everything has been a struggle and i had to create a "rival" version of myself just so i don't get stuck for weeks in the local gyms. really i'm just biding time until the switch 2 and the next main stream pair of versions. if i have anything worth it and also able to be transferred, then go will have come through for me there, i guess. edit: transferred, as in, sent to home to be moved into a real pokemon game.

I play because I travel other countries by bicycle and love walking. 417 miles of recorded walking so far this year with a large amount of that because of pokemon go. It’s a great way to get outside. I’ve also gotten a handful of people at work to hang out outside of work. I hope niantic can keep the game mechanics fun to keep getting people outside

As a solo rural player with only one gym and one stop, I had to use my imagination for too long to make fun from the pieces that Nianctic decided to give me. I decided to walk away from the game but I would love to come back! If only there was something to do and giving it support didn't feel... dirty? I don't think that's the right word but, it definitely feels bad giving Nianctic money when they so obviously and loudly do not care about me as a player.

I still play! I play daily but not hardcore specially when the raid pass nerf. Its get expensive honestly but I do love doing the buddy system to get all ribbons on my hundos or shundos and mega energies😊. I also motivate me to to exercise. Game feels slow right now but i still enjoy it regardless.

I still play for the same reason I started playing I like to play while I ride my bike to work and on my way home, and I like to play on my day off riding around and getting exercise. I use my go plus a lot on the way to work. And at work there is a few pokestops so I set it up to spin stops to refill items. I mainly play whenever I go outside. If I’m going shopping or running errands or going to and from work. I don’t raid as much as most people I try to get a few done for each new Pokémon released in raids. Mewtwo, primal Kyogre and Groudon have been the exception I did a bunch of those raids. I mainly raid in person. I only buy remotes rarely during winter when it’s too cold. I don’t pvp unless there is a quest for it, and even then I use little Pokémon and just let people beat me.

It helps me go outside more and get exercise walking around and I love PvP (I know it’s glitchy and buggy right now) but 🤷🏽‍♂️

gbl is the only reason i'm staying. I know there are a lot of issues with it but the core concept is brilliant to me. Especially with the new buffs/nerfs recently balancing the meta. They could totally do the rental team thing like they did in scarlet / violet that people could use for a certain amount of games.

PVP, new shinies, new pokemon additions, good IV pokemon. I also enjoy getting best buddy ribbons on my favorites but I don't grind them by any means. Been playing since launch and only every got one shundo. Also sunk cost fallacy unfortunately.

I play with/for my 11 year old son. I’m actually surprised that PoGo has survived for as long as they have and that content creators have had “content” to talk about for as long as this game has been around. Besides the nostalgia of branding it a Pokemon game, there isn’t really much that PoGo offers. There’s obviously SO much room for in-game mechanics to be better but since I last played back in 2016, there hasn’t been much going on to make the experience better. So if anything, I give it up to the fan base for keeping PoGo afloat. My son and I are enjoying it wholeheartedly but the bland repetitiveness of the game leaves much to be desired.

I definitely agree that they could use to add some more ways for players to compete. Gyms were never really a competitive mechanic. Any determined player will take a gym down no matter what. PvP is great and the rotating cups keeps it fairly fresh for quite a while. Even harder raids might be an interesting mechanic but also lock players without big groups. I play because I still find it fun. But, I also think the gameplay elements they have been adding over the last year have been flops. I’m all for the quality of life they’ve been adding but the game needs more gameplay loops for players to engage each other in.

Waiting for the game to bring in wonder trades (got a bunch of lucky friends)and an updated pvp system. I feel like sooner or later they will revamp the entire game to make it more playable for modern times.

I have completed the first 5 poke dex's, with 2 exceptions. Maniphe, Phione and Arceus have not been dropped in Go so clearly I need them to finish it out but I have all the rest. I need to evolve a larvesta into volcarona. I have the candy but haven't done it yet cause I want good IV's before I do that. What motivates me is getting pokemon with good PVP IV's to play in my local tournaments. I want to keep playing the go battle league. I also am looking to get the complete shiny dex. I need shiny paras, shiny venonat and shiny jynx to complete my kanto shiny dex. I need like 9 or 10 for johto. I also want to level 50 some pokemon and I need dust and candy for that so I'm still catching a lot of pokemon just to send them to the professor. I'm level 46 and still grinding up to level 50. I think taking an item from the anime would be a good idea, the world corronation series. If your status is online random players can challenge you to a battle outside of the GBL and your rank will be posted on in game leader boards. you should be able to set it to in game only so you don't have to really talk to people but that could be fun.

I play the game to lose weight that was my main focus and then filling up the polka decks, I'm almost there at level 41 almost at level 42.

At this point, only because I love the franchise and it's the only game that motivates me to go outside more. (that alone should justify not having to nerf remote passes) Pvp was fun until the biome update made it unplayably laggy

I suffer from gaming addiction at least with pokemon go it's an excuse to get out of the house, so I get the benefit of fresh air and exercise and don't actually need to spend money constantly which helps

I’ve been a daily/near daily player since day 1 release. That being said it is harder and harder to play. Between the lag, and random app crashes, and the ugly avatar, and the horrible events, and bad raids, I am finding it harder and harder to even care about the game. I will likely continue to play only because I love the Pokémon franchise and have been a Pokémon fan for 25 years now.
