This is a quick comparison test I did on the Nitto Terra Grappler G2, Toyo Open Country AT2. and Falken Wildpeak AT3W. I would say that out of these three tires, I think the Toyo is the best. That being said, I saw that the new Jeep Gladiator Rubicon is coming with Falken tires from the factory. Let me know what you think in the comments below. Hit that subscribe button. Falken Wildpeaks are the price/performance leader at this point - hands down. Great dirt and snow traction, quiet road performance, 55K tread warranty, aggressive styling. What is not to like? It seems that the reviewer simply has a personal preference for Toyo or Nitto, rather than providing any real evidence that the Falkens should be avoided.

I just purchased a 2019 Toyota TRD Pro. OEM tires were Nitto P rated RGs. Afte three days, I purchased Falken LT rated AT3Ws. I do not notice any difference in road noise, at any speed, up to 75mph. No issues with balancing. This is my second vehicle with the Falken AT3Ws in both a P rated tire on a 2015 Jeep GC, and now the TRD Pro. Love the tires.

Been running the Terra Grappler over the last 12 months and have been VERY happy. Living in the Rocky Mountains and being an avid outdoorsman I have thrown a lot at them and they haven't missed a beat. Just bought a new truck and looking at tires to make sure I don't miss anything. The Toyo certainly is intriguing as an option, plus the more aggressive look is a bonus for sure. That said, the performance on the Nitto has been amazing.

You probably don't know how to drive in the snow like many many others and the 150 suck in the snow with any tire it's a ford . I have zero issues in 12 plus inches of snow over a dozen times a year with nitto terra grapplers on my wife's tundra and my ram 1500 . I work in a tire shop and they are hands down the best of this bunch but there are better tires also. name your price .

@bdanielcal4608 Well, I see you have nothing better to do than trash me from a comment I left two years ago. Live in Midwestern Wisconsin and have driven in plenty of shit conditions, and have never ended up in the ditch. I was directly comparing two different tires on identical trucks and reporting the differences I observed. The rubber compound of the falkens seems to stay more pliable at lower temperatures when compared to nittos.

I was probably your first person (or close at least) to talk about how I love my Falkens, so I gotta say I challenge the statement of the Toyos being better in snow than the Falkens, which are Winter Rated--not just because I've tested mine here in Minnesota, but because Toyo came out with the AT2 AW in Canada (obviously a Winter Rated version of the AT 2), so even they know it needed an upgrade for better winter driving. Either way, thanks for being unbiased and reviewing a non-favorite tire of yours. A+ work!

I had my first set on a 2500 Ram with a 5.7 hemi. I pulled them a 27 ft travel trailer and a atv on my truck deck. They wore really well, awesome in the snow and mud and I live in Canada. The weather is very challenging on everything. I use to run Good Year Duratracs. These tires perform about the same and that's really well. I stop buying the Duratracs as they got expensive and wore horrible. They scalloped horrible by 50 000 km. I use to get 100 000 km out of them. The Falkins didn't scallop and wore to 95 000 km. I have a new Ram 2500 5.7 and run 37 inch Cooper Pro SST for hunting season and trapping. Then I put on my Falkin 33 inch for fuel mileage. The Falkins actually better on ice a frozen snow then the Cooper Pro SST Pro. I'm always driving on gravel roads and deep snow. You will love these tires. I only buy the best stuff for my truck. I love my baby.

Love the videos, keep them coming. Just one thing I think would help is giving all the benefits to them. Truck guys want to know if they are good for towing as well. Is there a warranty and what is the best bang for your buck. Also you should always mention what they are best in. Wet, snow etc. I have done my research but would love for you to do a video on the best all around towing truck tire. Wildpeaks keeps coming up and wanted to know your opinion. Thanks
@CampusautoCo
@CampusautoCo 4 жыл бұрын
I think that the G2 and the Falken would be better for towing. I have a 5th wheel RV myself and have had several truck and tire combinations. I had a 2015 Chevrolet 3500HD with a set of Continental Terrain Contact AT that did awesome. My current truck is a 2018 Ram HD with the OE Firestone Transforce AT which have been really good loaded up towing but lack in wet traction, ride quality, and I wouldn't dare drive them in the snow. Take a look at the General Grabber ATX and the Firestone XT as well.

Driven from salt lake to Southern California to visit fam, I’d say more than 10x’s now since I got the truck in 2019. Reading the other reviews, I don’t get about hearing the tires being loud, mines have never made the tire sounds from start and present, sound and feel normal. Personally have owned all three tires & on different vehicles. Put them on my 2012 Trail Edition 4Runner & 2018 Tacoma Off-Road both vehicles are 4x4. Have driven them from Southern California through most of Northern Utah & in between. Driven all three in snow, sleet, rain, fast highway speeds in dry weather, fire dirt roads overlanding, heck even on the sand in Pismo Beach, California. All three did what they were supposed to do, BUT there's ONE, for me at least, that stood out the most & after over 150K of driving split between all three. I pick the Falken Wildpeaks. Simply bcuz it did everything the other two tires did, but at all star levels. It's was less noisy, better grip in snow, better performance in the rain, cornering in dry weather (won't say how fast I've taken them LOL) & as a bonus better MPGs. nothing wrong with the other brands. Just that the Falken Wildpeaks AT3 really passed the real life test with me.

No Falkin fan boy here..actually never even thought about them or considered them until you made your fan boy comment. I said WTH..let me try them. I drive about 30k per year and on these HD trucks its hard pressed to get 40kmiles out of any of them...and I have been following you for years and have tried almost every major manufacturer. I have had 3 different Toyos, 2 Nittos, 2 BFG KO2 and even 3 mud terrain. The Falking I have now has 32k miles and I will definitely get another 15k out of them. The only thing coming out is the KO3 and my previous experience on HD trucks have not been good, even though I have a set on my golf cart and Audi... Us fan boys stray (BFG) when a product is not up to par. For now the Falkens are the best all around, best wearing tire for a HD truck that I have found.

I bought the falken tires 35x12.5x20, for my f150, I've got more than 50k miles on my tires. I've had Toyo tires and nito tires these have been louder than the falkens. I do alot of sand and highway driving and so far these have lasted me the longest. Rotate my tires every oil change . But I live way down south in texas dont know what kind of terrain you are driven in . But as for me in my opinion for the trails here these have been my go to tires. Other people my have there opinions about other brands . These are it for me

In all my years driving, the most impressive tire I ever owned was a Toyo G2 Observe with microbit technology. You know the tire with nuts. I got 140,000 kms on them over 7 winters and still sold them when I sold the second X3 they were on. Amazing really. Expensive but great value. They defied logic. All three of these tires would be very good tires.

I had Falken Wildpeaks on my 2016 ram 1500 4x4. I put them on at 41,000 miles I ran it 3 years and then traded it in. the mileage was 122,000 miles.... thats right 81,000 miles on those tires. Now I rotated them religiously every 4-5000 miles at Discount Tire where I bought them. Every time they pulled them they checked the pressure and balanced them. Oh so I wondered if the dealer put new tires on before they sold it.....nope I checked their website and blew up the picture and they were selling it with those same tires. So it still had tread enough to pass inspection. Buying my next set of Wildpeaks next week.

You’d have to get the Toyo A/T II-AW (obviously the winter-rated version) to complete with the winter-rated Falken. I live in Minnesota and we get more snow and ice than pretty much anyone and I can attest to their (Falken’s) winter abilities. I’d like to see a live comparison of both winter-rated tires, and wish Toyo sold that version here in the U.S and not just in Canada.

You guys would know more about snow than any one for sure! What I have noticed on both my 1/2 tons and 3/4 tons is the difference we not only get in wear with Toyos but in less tire noise when running them. That includes the Toyo M/T which gets used by many here. Also, most of my tires have been in the 35" size which may play a role as well. There are many nice/new lifted as well as stock trucks up here and one thing you will notice is that when these same people are feeling tight they buy General, Cooper, Falken, etc. but when they seem to be on top of their finances or back from Alaska, you see them running Toyos.

Add my two cents. I've run two sets of Falken AT3W tires on a Jeep with V6, and RAM 1500 with 5.7L. Both superior to every other A/T tire I've ever personally owned/run, or experienced. Great offroad trails, dirt, gravel, smaller rocks; Great on dry and wet (vastly superior on wet) and quiet. Great handling. Did I say quiet? Wears well. All season rated; great for snow also. I will recommend to anyone for any rig; get the correct tire for your use and be happy. If you are doing a good bit of mudd'in or crawl'in than step up to a M/T; can't say the Falken M/T is better than some others. Never used them.

I had two sets of KO2 on my Ram Ecodiesel and they were okay. They did not excel in anything. Punctured the sidewall twice last summer and fishtailed all over this December in Montana. After as much reading as I could possibly do it came down to either General Grabber ATX or the Falkens. Ultimately, I ordered the Falkens even though they were more expensive than the Grabbers ATX. I am hoping for better snow performance and better longevity than the KO2. Time will tell.

First impressions after driving over 2000 km in snow cover roads of BC and Alberta with my new Wildpeaks. I went up a size to 275/65/20. Also the KO2 were in stock size and 8 ply as opposed to the Falkens being 10 ply. The added weight is exactly 10 lbs. That is a substantial weight gain. One thing I have noticed immediately in that regard was the effect it has on braking. It certainly takes more effort in applying brakes. I obviously don’t have exact measurements but I wouldn’t be surprise to see an increase in stopping distance. Quietness: is on par or little better than the KO2. Wet traction: there’s is not a hint of hydroplaning. KO2 were similar. Snow: Falkens are better (IMHO), not staggeringly better, just better. I have to say, though, that the temperatures were around -27C (-17F). No AT tire (snowflake rated or not) will do great in those temperatures. I have never run a true winter tire on my truck, but I suspect that it would be the time when one would notice a difference. Fuel economy: don’t have the exact number but the added weight does obviously have an impact. Right now I’m happy with the purchase. However, I’m not sure if in the future I would stick with the taller sidewall or go back down to the stock size.

AT3Ws have one MASSIVE advantage. You can say things like:" Look at them big Falken tires! Look at these Falken tires! Those are some big Falken tires!" Although as someone who knows tire compounds are one of the most important components, the high silica in the Falkens will make them superior in wet and slurpy conditions, and will also increase their wear life. They were only cheap for a time because they were the new kid on the block. They've become so popular now though (especially now that they scored the deal with Jeep), that the price has skyrocketed due to demand. You don't have to like them, or their aesthetic, but at this point they've gone toe to toe with the kings of the biz and won. They may very well be the most popular tire of a generation. Just like the Grand daddy BFGs did in the late 80's and 90's (and for those over 45, still to this day) and the Geolandars in the 2000's, The Toyo's in the 2010's..... They are magnifique*. To be honest, the last few years some mediocre brands have unleashed some awesome rubber. Hankook probably makes the best city boy A/T tire in the Dynapro, displacing the old guard Bridgestone REVOs. Kumho, yes, the same came with the Kia Kumho, now has three excellent Tires in the Road Venture series (AT51, MT51, MT71,) and who can forget the titans? The Wrangler Duratrac vs the Firestone Destination MT! If one or the other wasn't wrapped around some gaudy 24 inch rims on every other cocoa butter cowboy special cruising down the road, would we even know what to do with ourselves then?

Im on my second set/vehicle with the wildpeaks and can say for certain that they are tremendously good in wet road conditions and equally good in snow. My only experience with the toyos was on a 2/3 worn set I had on my FJ cruiser when I bought it, but based on that limited use, Feb '17-Oct '17 I was not disappointed in the least. I don't know of anyone on a personal level that runs terra grapplers currently. Surely someone has in the past, but they no longer do if they had. I work with many others who run wildpeaks and nobody seems to have anything negative to say about them. The toyo at2s I feel were better wearing, albiet slightly, and somewhat quieter, but running p-metric vs the LT wildpeaks I put on after. The wildpeaks are tremendous in the snow and the wet but I feel that when new, they Toyo would be equally good in the wet and nearly as good in the snow. Neither tire would I hesitate to run on my vehicles. That being said, when I'm shopping for tires in my area, I can find LT rated falkens at a much lower price point than the Toyos and don't feel the performance difference matches the price difference by any means. Currently my p-metric falkens on my tacoma are wearing down to close to what the toyos were on my FJ when I bought it, and coming into winter, I should see a pretty legitimate apples to apples comparison with when I first ran toyos. I'd run either before a terra grappler, and a terra grappler before a KO2.

One thing that sets Falken apart from the other two tires is that it has severe snow rating, which is great for us who need serious winter traction out of an AT tire. I consider both Falken and Nitto in the same league, maybe Nitto has the slight edge since it does offer more options for truck enthusiasts. But overall they are both great tires, they both started gaining reputation in the1990's, so yeah I wouldn't say Falken is the inferior one here. I was amazed by the good reviews I heard from people using the AT3W so I went ahead and bought a set. I was considering the new General ATX but feel like it's a little too aggressive for me (90% on pavement).

Where the Falken stands out is the quiet and stable ride along with the excellent tread life while towing heavy. This review was opinion based and not one based off actual use data. Great video 👍🏻 . I recently purchased the Nitto Grappler G2 tires for my 2016 Ram 1500 sport put on 20 inch stock rims . Once I get over 70 mph - 80 the truck has a noticeable shake . I can see the passenger seat actually shaking. You can slightly feel the shake in the steering wheel. The truck originally came with the Goodyear Wrangler SRA tires and I had a smooth ride . I have friends with the Nitto G2 tires on their Ram trucks with no issues. I thought easy fix the wheels just need to be rebalanced but I went back to the tire shop 2 times and they rebalanced the tires but I'm still getting that shake . Do you had any ideas on correcting the shake ? Tire shop said it's an all terrain tire that's how they are . I've owned numerous pick up trucks and all kinds of all terrain tires on them over the years and never a problem like this . I'm at the point where I'm thinking I'm going to take a $1,000 loss and get rid of these tires that I just purchased in end of October which would be a shame . I feel like I got ripped off 😕. The non LT tire is better in the wet it uses a silica compound. I have the Non-LT at3w and have had massive grip in the snow(13") and went up a small hill of ice with no problem. I've heard some complaints about the LT model not having as much grip in the snow and rain. Also I went in loose sand and light mud no problem. My only concern was off road with lots of rocks. I wasn't too concerned but I feel like the LT would of been better for that situation.

I drive my Jeep Wrangler exclusively on-road, sadly. Which gives best fuel economy and why? Thanks. This video is really helping me narrow down my choice. Trying to convince myself out of all-season SR-A in offshoot I start off-roaring. Thanks!

I'd say that there is a negligible difference in all the as far as fuel economy.

I have a wrangler and the falken tyres, they’re great I love them. Not loud at all and great for the road. Also great going off-road. Would definitely recommend.

Wonder if it has to do with tire size vs weight of truck. I love mine on my 2500 Cummins, but I have a lot more weight over the front tires? I have run this tire for a while now and have always had good luck with it.

@@robertmaurer9879 Could be, I can tell the difference with the Falken Wildpeaks. I sold the Toyo’s to a guy with a 3500. I hope they work better for him.

Driven both the Falken and the Toyo, Falken wins hands down in my opinion. Seems like a brand bias more than a real tire comparison. Almost no OEM runs toyo or nitto, maybe for a reason. Heard great things about the G2 though.
