Falken Wildpeaks are the price/performance leader at this point - hands down. Great dirt and snow traction, quiet road performance, 55K tread warranty, aggressive styling. What is not to like? It seems that the reviewer simply has a personal preference for Toyo or Nitto, rather than providing any real evidence that the Falkens should be avoided.

Have you actually had these on your truck? I have run all three tire brands and had the Toyos, a different Nitto (Exo Grappler), and the Falkens on my Tundra. By far the least highway noise is the Falken. The Falken is also far superior to the Toyo on snowy/icy roads and I have run both tires through multiple winters in the high sierras. As far as wear patterns and longevity go the Toyos and Falkens were very good and nearly the same. The Nittos I had were pretty fast wearing and much more uneven than the others. Anyhow, your review sounds like it's based on preconceived opinions of the tires. All three were good tires but when you factor in the very good pricing of the Falkens and superior road noise and winter traction it is the hands down winner. I will be replacing my Falkens with an identical set when the time comes.

Personally have owned all three tires & on different vehicles. Put them on my 2012 Trail Edition 4Runner & 2018 Tacoma Off-Road both vehicles are 4x4. Have driven them from Southern California through most of Northern Utah & in between. Driven all three in snow, sleet, rain, fast highway speeds in dry weather, fire dirt roads overlanding, heck even on the sand in Pismo Beach, California. All three did what they were supposed to do, BUT there's ONE, for me at least, that stood out the most & after over 150K of driving split between all three. I pick the Falken Wildpeaks. Simply bcuz it did everything the other two tires did, but at all star levels. It's was less noisy, better grip in snow, better performance in the rain, cornering in dry weather (won't say how fast I've taken them LOL) & as a bonus better MPGs. nothing wrong with the other brands. Just that the Falken Wildpeaks AT3 really passed the real life test with me.

Great video 👍🏻 . I recently purchased the Nitto Grappler G2 tires for my 2016 Ram 1500 sport put on 20 inch stock rims . Once I get over 70 mph - 80 the truck has a noticeable shake . I can see the passenger seat actually shaking. You can slightly feel the shake in the steering wheel. The truck originally came with the Goodyear Wrangler SRA tires and I had a smooth ride . I have friends with the Nitto G2 tires on their Ram trucks with no issues. I thought easy fix the wheels just need to be rebalanced but I went back to the tire shop 2 times and they rebalanced the tires but I'm still getting that shake . Do you had any ideas on correcting the shake ? Tire shop said it's an all terrain tire that's how they are . I've owned numerous pick up trucks and all kinds of all terrain tires on them over the years and never a problem like this . I'm at the point where I'm thinking I'm going to take a $1,000 loss and get rid of these tires that I just purchased in end of October which would be a shame . I feel like I got ripped off 😕. I appreciate any suggestions thank you .

I drive about 30k per year and on these HD trucks its hard pressed to get 40kmiles out of any of them...and I have been following you for years and have tried almost every major manufacturer. I have had 3 different Toyos, 2 Nittos, 2 BFG KO2 and even 3 mud terrain. The Falking I have now has 32k miles and I will definitely get another 15k out of them. One thing that sets Falken apart from the other two tires is that it has severe snow rating, which is great for us who need serious winter traction out of an AT tire. I consider both Falken and Nitto in the same league, maybe Nitto has the slight edge since it does offer more options for truck enthusiasts. But overall they are both great tires, they both started gaining reputation in the1990's, so yeah I wouldn't say Falken is the inferior one here. I was amazed by the good reviews I heard from people using the AT3W so I went ahead and bought a set. I was considering the new General ATX but feel like it's a little too aggressive for me (90% on pavement).

I had two sets of KO2 on my Ram Ecodiesel and they were okay. They did not excel in anything. Punctured the sidewall twice last summer and fishtailed all over this December in Montana. After as much reading as I could possibly do it came down to either General Grabber ATX or the Falkens. Ultimately, I ordered the Falkens even though they were more expensive than the Grabbers ATX. I am hoping for better snow performance and better longevity than the KO2. Time will tell.

First impressions after driving over 2000 km in snow cover roads of BC and Alberta with my new Wildpeaks. I went up a size to 275/65/20. Also the KO2 were in stock size and 8 ply as opposed to the Falkens being 10 ply. The added weight is exactly 10 lbs. That is a substantial weight gain. One thing I have noticed immediately in that regard was the effect it has on braking. It certainly takes more effort in applying brakes. I obviously don’t have exact measurements but I wouldn’t be surprise to see an increase in stopping distance. Quietness: is on par or little better than the KO2. Wet traction: there’s is not a hint of hydroplaning. KO2 were similar. Snow: Falkens are better (IMHO), not staggeringly better, just better. I have to say, though, that the temperatures were around -27C (-17F). No AT tire (snowflake rated or not) will do great in those temperatures. I have never run a true winter tire on my truck, but I suspect that it would be the time when one would notice a difference. Fuel economy: don’t have the exact number but the added weight does obviously have an impact. Right now I’m happy with the purchase. However, I’m not sure if in the future I would stick with the taller sidewall or go back down to the stock size.

reelcanuck id recommend those at3w’s they are great performer of them all, if you get the “p” rated tire they have silicone incorporated in there tread, my uncle has a set of the KO2’s they aren’t wearing the best and they got loud after some mileage and he said they where over priced for how they performed, I have a set of toyo rt’s they are great but they are a bit louder then an at takes some getting used to I haven’t had any issues with them at all they are great all around tires, but I’m not much of a fan of the Nitto at cause there tread is so hard and it tends to slip in the rain but do your research before you buy your tires select a few that you like and remember tires are an investment never cheap out but don’t over pay for the best at tire that’s never gonna go off the highway
@ghosttownsentinel52886 жыл бұрын
@reelcanuck I would take this reviewers recommendations with a grain of salt, to be honest. I was running BFG KOs and recently KO2s on my Land Cruiser (for over 5 years combined). KO2s are awesome tires and are worth every penny. However, if you want tires to 'look' off-road without being mud tires, then Falken has the looks, even more than the KO2s. Seriously! Go to a tire store and see it for yourself. Falkens have deep treads and meatier, thicker protrusions on the sidewalls that will make your truck look mean and rugged as hell simply standing in the mall parking lot! I got a set of Falken at3W tires last week, and in one week of driving on them, I must say, I am loving it. They don't feel any different than the KO2s in road manners and noise.

Add my two cents. I've run two sets of Falken AT3W tires on a Jeep with V6, and RAM 1500 with 5.7L. Both superior to every other A/T tire I've ever personally owned/run, or experienced. Great offroad trails, dirt, gravel, smaller rocks; Great on dry and wet (vastly superior on wet) and quiet. Great handling. Did I say quiet? Wears well. All season rated; great for snow also. I will recommend to anyone for any rig; get the correct tire for your use and be happy. If you are doing a good bit of mudd'in or crawl'in than step up to a M/T; can't say the Falken M/T is better than some others. Never used them.

AT3Ws have one MASSIVE advantage. You can say things like:" Look at them big Falken tires! Look at these Falken tires! Those are some big Falken tires!" Although as someone who knows tire compounds are one of the most important components, the high silica in the Falkens will make them superior in wet and slurpy conditions, and will also increase their wear life. They were only cheap for a time because they were the new kid on the block. They've become so popular now though (especially now that they scored the deal with Jeep), that the price has skyrocketed due to demand. You don't have to like them, or their aesthetic, but at this point they've gone toe to toe with the kings of the biz and won. They may very well be the most popular tire of a generation. Just like the Grand daddy BFGs did in the late 80's and 90's (and for those over 45, still to this day) and the Geolandars in the 2000's, The Toyo's in the 2010's..... They are magnifique*. To be honest, the last few years some mediocre brands have unleashed some awesome rubber. Hankook probably makes the best city boy A/T tire in the Dynapro, displacing the old guard Bridgestone REVOs. Kumho, yes, the same came with the Kia Kumho, now has three excellent Tires in the Road Venture series (AT51, MT51, MT71,) and who can forget the titans? The Wrangler Duratrac vs the Firestone Destination MT! If one or the other wasn't wrapped around some gaudy 24 inch rims on every other cocoa butter cowboy special cruising down the road, would we even know what to do with ourselves then?

Im on my second set/vehicle with the wildpeaks and can say for certain that they are tremendously good in wet road conditions and equally good in snow. My only experience with the toyos was on a 2/3 worn set I had on my FJ cruiser when I bought it, but based on that limited use, Feb '17-Oct '17 I was not disappointed in the least. I don't know of anyone on a personal level that runs terra grapplers currently. Surely someone has in the past, but they no longer do if they had. I work with many others who run wildpeaks and nobody seems to have anything negative to say about them. The toyo at2s I feel were better wearing, albiet slightly, and somewhat quieter, but running p-metric vs the LT wildpeaks I put on after. The wildpeaks are tremendous in the snow and the wet but I feel that when new, they Toyo would be equally good in the wet and nearly as good in the snow. Neither tire would I hesitate to run on my vehicles. That being said, when I'm shopping for tires in my area, I can find LT rated falkens at a much lower price point than the Toyos and don't feel the performance difference matches the price difference by any means. Currently my p-metric falkens on my tacoma are wearing down to close to what the toyos were on my FJ when I bought it, and coming into winter, I should see a pretty legitimate apples to apples comparison with when I first ran toyos. I'd run either before a terra grappler, and a terra grappler before a KO2.

Last 3 sets have been Falkens Just put a set of Nitto terra grapplers on. Time will tell. How about the Ridge Grappler ? They look way more aggressive.

Went with the Nitto Terra Grappler since Toyo AT 3s has been on backorder for literally months. Once they wear out Toyo AT 3s.

I had to choose the Continental Terrain Contact AT instead because of that massive back order.

Do the Toro open country tire fit on 17 inch wheels?

Great review. I'm virtually on the fence between the Falken Wildpeak AT3W and the General Grabber ATX for my next tire choice on my 17' Taco TRD 4x4 Sport CCSB. I don't off road as much as I used to, but when I do, it helps to have a reliable tire that's able to handle the task.

Hmm.. I've been looking to replace my k02's on my raptor, and Idk what to do here. I want that good look, but I also need wet and snow which the k02s do well but I'm just not happy with the wear and how easy the blocks get damaged. Everyone it seems says ridge grappler but from what I seen, it looks absolutely horrid in snow. It also now seems the falken is right around the same price as these k02, open country, ridge grappler, mickey thompson tyoe of tire now so it's basically like a "pick em" deal now it seems. *sigh* Totally stuck here with what to do and up up against it with 3-4/32nds on all 4.

What did you get? I'm leaning 1. Falken and 2. Nitto

@@carrickdubya4765 honestly, im still riding the treadbar. its spring so im trying to push it to fall. I still have no idea what im going to do. ill probably go falken, but if i dont, ill probably just put on the K02's again, as much as i want to try something different
