I get about 4years and 60,000 out of my last 2 sets of G2's. I just found out about the G3's today. The G2's are no longer being made but yiu can still get them if they have your size, otherwise, you have to get a different tire. I'm going to try the G3's out and hope they're better than the G2's. I'm betting that they will.

These are the tires I want for my F150. They are one of the very few tires that offers a non-LT 275/65R20 size, are 3PMS rated, lightweight (about 47 lbs) and still looks relatively aggressive. They’re exactly what I want. Can’t wait til this size comes out in December! Thank you for reviewing them, nice to get some education on Nitto’s history!

I can confirm that toyo/nitto used a different compound in the tread for the entire NTGA3 line up. I have worked for toyo for nearly 9 years in GA. Love to see that people love these tires.
@vr-tl9uh2
@vr-tl9uh2 Ай бұрын
@@rainman1387 I noticed that the hard metric sizes of the G3’s have a 70K mile warranty which is pretty much the best in the tire world I’ve seen. Does this mean the compound is more harder to promote longer life? Or is the ride quality actually better too? I am interested in these tires but I don’t want to get a super stiff riding tire.
@rainman1387
@rainman1387 Ай бұрын
@vr-tl9uh2 I cant give specifics on compound differences. A stiff ride is in part due to tread but also in the flex and profile of your sidewall as well. I know a couple guys at work and they love their NTGA3. I have bought Toyo and nittos for my personal and my familes vehicles and havent had any ride issues.
@vr-tl9uh2

@@rainman1387 makes sense. For the 275/70/r18 size, it’s one of the few options in hard metric which is pretty nice. Most are Load Range E which I know would be way stiffer riding.

I have a 2020 f-150. It came with Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure With Kevlar. Even though i maintained the times very well, at 35000 time to replace. I usually go for cooper AT road and trail. But this time i was convinced to try terra grappler G3. Never had Nitto tires before. I am from the Houston, Tx area. About 80% pavement and the rest is off road on our farms. I have had them for about 6 weeks. So far very pleased. Quiet and comfortable for this type of tire. No rain for the last 2 months so i can't say how they will perform in wet weather.

I had Michelin tires before these in 265/70r18. In comparison, the road noise with the Terra Grappler's is barely noticeable, and they are very smooth on the highway. I took a road trip to the mountains this weekend, highway had lots of curves and the tires were solid. Also went on some dirt, forest service roads that were pretty rough, and the tires performed great there as well.

Hey man, how would you say the ride quality and noise compare with the others you listed? I know you said smooth and quiet, but like is it an astounding difference? I’m asking because I currently have the Nitto Recon grapplers which I would say are comparable to the ones you listed. They do great off road and look great, but holy hell they are noisy on the highway. I was shocked how loud they were brand new. I have about 6K miles on them and it’s getting to the point that I may take em off and get the G3’s. I’ve had aggressive tires before and it’s shocking to me how noisy these recons are. My old duratracs were noisy at about 20K miles in. I can’t imagine how loud the recons will be at that mileage.

Great review, for us common folk that only do mild 4wheeling and looking for a lighter aggressive looking tire that does well in the snow would you go G3 or Toyo AT3 or have another pick? The Baja Boss and KO3 are great but the weight penalty is so high?

I run the Ridge Grapplers on my F150 now. They are less than stellar on wet roads. Probably about a year away from replacing them but trying to decide what tires will be best. I run 90% paved road and mostly gravel otherwise with the rare mud and dirt thrown in. But when I am in the mud it is that red Appalachian dirt/clay that is slick as snot. I was looking at the KO3, At4W, Rubitrek and now the Terra Grappler g3

I hard ridge grapplers before. Noticed they had abit more road noise then I liked. Switched to recon grapplers and they are a whole lot better for road noise. Going to get some g3 for my wife’s yukon which will be due for some new tires in the spring.

Would love to see a comparison between the BFG KO3, K02 and the Nitto Terra Grappler G3. The problem is the KO3 doesn’t appear to have load C rating 265/70r17 113s+ tires so I am also looking at the KO2 due to weight of KO3. I am considering those and the Toyo Open Country AT3 as well.

I've owned G2's and they were great in all situations, comfortable, quiet, good off road, good on road. I felt mine were decent in the wet. Only hated one thing, they hold and throw rocks something awful. And I run a lot of gravel roads. I would be willing to try the G3's looks like they have wider tread grooves.

I put the 295 70 18 Nitto G3's on my Ford F350 to replace 285 75 18 Nitto G2's that I've been running since 2018. The G2's were developing some tread separation at 40K, but they were six years old so out of warranty 😮. (It's a second vehicle so I don't drive it that much, and it's parked in the hot sun a lot.) I also looked at the Falken AT4W; glad for now that I went with the G3's. Price out the door was $1,890 from a local tire shop. A little more expensive than the chain stores 15 miles away but I like supporting local business and they have great customer service for rotation and and balancing. I ran the G3's over 1,000 miles from Sonoma County, CA to Bend, OR over the holidays. During the trip we had pretty heavy rainfall between Sonoma County over the twisty Hopland Grade and up to I-5, then dry pavement to Redding, CA (about 2 hours), heavy rain between Redding and Klamath Falls OR (3 hours around Mt. Shasta), then whiteout conditions with about 12" of snow between Klamath Falls to Bend (125 miles). The tires performed great in all conditions: solid on wet pavement, quiet on dry, and grippy in the snow. Once we got to bend we pulled about 5,000 lb's with a five-place enclosed snowmobile trailer with five sleds. The G3's handled the pulling weight easily on snowy roads, including backing the trailer into the snow drifts to unload at the sno-park. On the way home it was rain from Bend to Redding again, and no issues. The tires are still new so that could play into their performance, but happy so far.

I was super happy with my old G2s. I got them when I drove to the Arctic Ocean a couple winters ago. They were good enough for the Dempster Highway in -40°. I only upgraded to the Baja Boss A/Ts because I needed something more aggressive for the Rubicon Trail.

Thank you Tire Sensei for another informative video. I currently have 37 X 12.5 X 18 Trail Grapplers on my 2022 Power Wagon which I use to tow a 7,500 lb. travel trailer to the area I want to go off roading in so the majority of my truck's miles are on pavement, The tires are probably over half worn at 20,000 miles so I'm grappling with (see what I did there?) eventually replacing the Trail Grapplers with a tire that is a little more oriented to towing down the highway with off-road performance a secondary consideration. I mean, after all when you've got lockers front and rear and a winch you can afford to give up a little offroad performance to get a tire that more closely meets my needs. I'm not unhappy with my Trail Grapplers, I just wish they would last longer.

I live in Pennsylvania so I’m looking for a tire that can handle snow and wet weather. I had been looking at the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac RT, Toyo Open Country AT3 and the Falken Wildpeak AT4W. I do enjoy weekend trips to the trails to camp and “overland.” I wouldn’t say I go extreme off roading but I am looking for a strong off road tire that could take on some trails and won’t leave me stranded. I’d say my driving is probably 70% on road and 30% off road. I like the idea of the tire perhaps being a little lighter in weight. I’m interested in hearing your thoughts and assessment of the new Nitto’s performance.

I've loved Falken at3w for how they did in snow, but hated how I noticed a drop in fuel mileage. Nitto Terra grappler g2 did great on highway, increased fuel milage (plus quiter ride) but seemed to lack the side wall grip that falkens had when turning in snow. Really intrigued on the these g3s and how much better they performed over the previous generation

I had terra grapplers on my 2002 tundra that I parted ways with back in 2019. I put trail grapplers on my 2018 Titan shortly after buying it in 2019. They are still on it today and they are absolutely horrible in snow and rain. It’s coming down to the new terra grapplers or the new KO 3’s and I’m leaning back towards the new paragraph after watching this.😅 And yes, style and looks matter!

Had several sets of the original Terra Grapplers way back in the 2010;s, then tried out Ridge Grapplers on my last truck. The Ridge Grapplers seemed to ride more stiffly. Once they release some larger sizes, I'm going to try the G3's on my F150 and see how they work out. Looking forward to better wet weather traction and winter capability for my trips to the mountains.
