Wonderful game. It shows how a skillful evil team can really make things much harder for town with a) no disinformation and 2) a totally incomplete knowledge of the grim. Never underestimate the power of social players as opposed to information gatherers.

Wow, this turned out to be a really fun game despite seeming to start out as a trainwreck for evil. Really good social plays from evil to make it exciting. I think Ben made the right call killing Malakai the mayor - I think it gave the evil team their best shot, and I can't see how building solid trust between malakai and kat would have helped the evil team win.

I don't think Malaki should have ever turned evil, even if he had cast the deciding vote in the end. The politician can only flip if he's the most responsible player for an evil win out of all players, including evil players. I'd say in this game Patters would have always been the most responsible.

The thing with 'most responsible' in a game with an infinite number of actions you can take means that technically any player could be 'most responsible'. It definitely depends on the group's behaviour but by making Politician difficult to flip you then discourage them from ever trying to play evil as they are never truly aware of every action every player is taking. At that point, a Politician is just Snitch 2.0 - and can also feel incredibly sour for a player to only find out they lost in the last moment.

Thing is after they got 5 on Chiz potentially tying that vote would've made him the player that snatched an Evil victory from the jaws of defeat, which if I was STing would count as most responsible, especially because he spent the entire game muddying the otherwise clear information waters. That said, the odds were stacked against that so he just played for good at the end.

The way I read poli is that they are more responsible for evil winning than any other good player, which still requires a conscious effort but doesn’t lose them the game if a minion played really well.

Aw Chiz feels genuinely upset at the end :( Makes sense because you're just an evil player who has nothing to do - there's no demon to be found, and you have no ability either. At least as a good poisoned player you still get to enjoy having to figure out the game. Hosting a minion feels like a mean thing to do.

As with a lot of things in Clocktower, hosting a minion is a decision that you should make based on whether you are confident that the people involved will enjoy it. In this instance, because I'd spent most of my thinking time in that first night on whether hosting a minion was a good tactical decision (and didn't want to take too long before making a choice in the interests of keeping the stream on time), I didn't spend enough time thinking about whether either of my minions would enjoy it and instead just said the first of the two names that I saw when I looked at the screen - you're absolutely right that Chiz didn't enjoy it, and I knew almost immediately after choosing him that I should have picked Patters instead, who I know for sure would be happy to roll with it. There are players who really dig that kind of thing and players who don't - Chiz's reasons are exactly the sort of thing you describe here, a lack of agency, and I know him well enough that I probably would have realised that if I'd taken another moment to stop and think. So that's the lesson here - know your audience, and take the time to consider them! A few extra seconds of a slower night are worth one player's two hours of fun. I had a lot of fun playing this game but that lesson is definitely the most important thing I'm going to take from it. One of the things I like most about Clocktower is that it's kind of an ongoing lesson about interacting with each other, and that it's got a community who will talk about these things earnestly and good-heartedly to ensure that the next game is more fun than the last one. Make the plays that are good, yes, but only if they're fun for all involved!

There are yes. On this script a Barber that gets executed or dies at night can mean that the Lleech can change places. If that happened the new Lleech would get to pick a new host. Other ones not on this script would be Scarlet Woman and Snake Charmer. Pretty much all down to changing where the Lleech is

Every time there's a game with Malaki and Malakai, it just adds a whole extra layer of mental load to figure out who is who, in a game which is already pretty loaded with mental load on figuring out who knows what about who is who. @@kiwiSid - The most common ruling that I've seen on this is actually that the demon dies (sometimes the ST will wait until the Lleech is sober/healthy, but they're essentially just waiting to die). Consider the "...if they die" statement a continual check rather than a singular moment (as it is be for the Grandmother).
