Looks to be almost everything you'd hope for in a 2nd gen machine... but are you guys interested in picking one up? Will any price above $1199 be too much?

Price is a big factor. It's my most wanted addition but will it be at say Walmart so I could throw it on Affirm? Cause I can't just drop 1k.

Even though it will (likely) be a bargain compared to other pre-built 4K vpins, $1000 is still a lot of dough. BUT if you're even remotely into vpin & have no desire to build it yourself, this machine is almost certainly going to be the jam.

Do you think that they would sell the 4k monitors as an upgrade for people who own the gen 1 ALP pinball machine.
@evilgeniusentertainment Жыл бұрын
No, I don't think anything like that will happen b/c they're never going to have the hardware/games on the Gen1 ALP do anything more than they can do right now. While that would be a nice thing for people using OTG, I would be shocked if they do. What the could - and should - do is sell an adapter for their connection to the monitor to we can use HDMIs (thus we'd be able to buy our own monitor from a 3rd party). But this too is fairly doubtful.
@ClyptonimusPrime_n64 Жыл бұрын
I have a question for you, and this is on behalf of anyone who plays OTG and may have done some upgrades on the original ATGames Legends Pinball unit. Any idea if the arcade control panel from the original legends pinball is compatible? Also, I made some purchases at BuyStuff Arcade to upgrade the back box and added a haptics kit to my original setup. Any idea if these things will work with the new Legends Pinball 4K? Basically, I'm very interested in the nicer 4K monitor /UI and Pinball FX integrations, but I really like my Backbox from BuyStuff. I was hoping to sort of transfer things over to the new 4K Pinball as needed. This may be a "too early to know" type of situation, but the information would really help influence my buying decisions. Maybe something to consider as a talking point if you end up reviewing the new unit? Anyhow, thanks for the great video!

The control panel is swappable! Not sure if the Buystuff sound kit is (I made my own DIY version), but I'm guessing it would be. Hope that helps some!

@evilgeniusentertainment Жыл бұрын
I like quite a few of their tables, but there's def not enough difference between the various MagicPixels's - most are very very similar to one another. I like the Gottlieb tables (although I'd to see more of 'em), and I hope that all the tables aren't so upgraded graphically but get over-hauls with their physics. VPX and FuturePinball have clearly jumped ahead in that regard. But yes, they for sure need at least 5-10 A+ tables to really get people excited.

60hz refresh rate?😂😂😂😂😂😂 4k pinball in order to see it and experience it in all its glory needs to be 120Hz. This is a mistake and the company is too stubborn to admit it. At this point with 4k gaming their price point should have already had 4k and 120Hz baked into it. Criminal
@evilgeniusentertainment Жыл бұрын
Until we know the MSRP we really can't say either way. I mean if this think is $999 then it's a straight up steal. If it's $1999, then it's a completely different story. One thing I would like to see them do down the line either way is to us "tune" the games/machine so that the user can pick between various frame rates and resolutions. If the playfield monitor is 120hz, then it should be possible... we shall see.

To bad the black listed coinopsx and much more..Atgames is a waste of your time, not modder friendly any longer.
@evilgeniusentertainment Жыл бұрын
Well... I don't think anyone uses coinopsx to vpin. I certainly never have. Either they're playing the stock AG games, or OTGing Zen/VPX/Future Pinball. Coinopsx does, of course, work just fine on the ALU. Far more unfriendly to actual modders is the lack of HDMI outputs on the PCB in the gen1/gen2 ALP b/c it means you can't swap out any of the monitors.
@ToddRussellTV Жыл бұрын
60hz is TERRIBLE, no, it's not "pretty ok" ... huge difference between 60hz and 120hz+ The video on you is great, but the quality of the playfield images is total garbage and can't tell anything quality-wise from them.
@evilgeniusentertainment Жыл бұрын
Gotta disagree - few people actually see 120hz when playing vpin, either because their cards a wee too slow, or some other bottleneck (like older HDMI cords, the TV itself). So many things can affect frame rate. Far - FAR - more important than frame rate is the game's physics, and that's really the one question I have for the ALP 2 is whether or not the physics on the magix pixel pins have gotten better ('cause they need too). I think 60hz at true 4K is a decent compromise.
@RetroHondo67 Жыл бұрын
I think the cost of upgrading to a higher refresh monitor are twofold. 1. The monitor goes up dramatically in price especially if you go OLED 2. For their native games the new Rockchip though powerful does not have the graphic processing power to handle a 4k60+ signal which dramatically increases the cost of production as they would have to spend a great deal of time optimizing code to get to those frame rates (and that is even if the Rockchip can output say a 4k120 signal from its video processing unit nevermind if the integrated gpu (mali I think) is even capable of producing a high refresh rate at that resolution. With the ALU already going to cost somewhere around $1.2k-1.5k and the additional costs would likely increase the cost to $2k plus so that would be a stupid business decision because most people would not know the difference. I think 1080p 144hz+ might be a better solution but I understand why most people would think 4K is a better one from a marketing pov. In the end if you have the money to hook up a 4k240 gaming rig then you have the money to spend another 1k to swap out the monitor to one of the new 32” Oleds that just got announced (keep in mind they are not shipping yet either so I think 4K high refresh rate gaming is quite frankly a bleeding edge proposition). I think 1440p at 32” is fine resolution wise but most people just see the higher resolution and think better, not factoring in the increase in cost of the gpu you need, the dramatic increase in cost of a gaming rig with the proper high speed RAM and CPU so you don’t bottleneck and finally one issue that never gets mentioned is also the dramatic increase in power you need which includes a better power supply and large wattage pull from your wall, enough that you would see a difference in your power bill each month. A lot of hype when probably the only reasonable use case at this price is a professional esports player. Everyone else would be blown away with a 1440p144 rig which is likely half the cost of ownership.

@@RetroHondo67 I spent the $$$, it was $1400 just for my 55" Sony OLED 4K 120hz playfield and it's STUNNING. There is literally no comparison to anything 60hz, especially when powered by a beefy PC. My scores have gone up dramatically since going faster refresh / 4K. The problem with this Atgames 4K is the refresh will be the bottleneck. They would have been better off going 2K and faster refresh. This point is lost on JDV, but when he plays something better than he has been, he'll see the light. I was stubborn on this issue, too once upon a time.
@ToddRussellTV Жыл бұрын
@@evilgeniusentertainment you are missing the point entirely. You need fluid movement as part of the physics. Less frames, less fluid movement. Refresh reduces blur, pinball is FAST man, a very fast game. Admittedly some of the stock Magic Pixel games are slow, but you go OTG and play any of the more modern tables, you're definitely going to feel the difference. Atgames should have not focused on the 4k screen and gone lower res with higher refresh low ms delay for lowest latency, most fluid experience. You can disagree with me all day long, go hangout with people who have played a TON of virtual pinball and see what they say. You might just learn something new.

Todd, let's get a production model to review before throwing too much dirt on it. 120hz is better then 60hz for sure, but will it be a deal breaker for most? Probably not.
