The Metropolitan’s assassination under mysterious circumstances is something that reeks of a thriller. Criminal elements must have had a hand in his sudden and unexplained murder. That the bishop’s own kith and kin aren’t interested in knowing about the facts of the case adds to the mystery: one feels that they may have been pressured into keeping mum on the case. The only depressing aspect about the entire episode is that the case has been yet again entrusted to Biji George, the IPS officer who did nothing when entrusted with the case previously. However, now that Sunil Mathew has gone ahead and submitted himself to preliminary investigations by submitting whatever evidence he has at his disposal- implies that Biji George won’t be able to shut the case that easily. Waiting for that day to dawn when those who have had a hand in the murder of a Metropolitan, will be behind bars for a long time.

Assigning reinvestigation to the same officer who closed the file earlier is intriguing. People are eager to know the truth that still eludes. There was certainly a ground for suspecting foul-play, given the kind of involvements of Athanasios with issues that could have had implications for a few others who aspired for certain positions and privileges in Church.
