I've been on the side of reason since mid-high school. To me, religion is flawed and was created by those wishing to fill some empty void in their lives because they felt unsatisfied with how things were going for them. Some need to stop living in a fantasy land and realize you don't need some sky fairy to make you truly happy because only you have the power to make yourself happy. Your experience is yours and choice is valid, but also subjective. Just as I believe because statistically and scientifically I should have been gone a long time ago. All situations unrelated, with years apart. Latest was a 65 mph head on collision due to a drunk on the 405 freeway. T-boned head on. So for me, I believe God has his guardian angels watching over me and I’m sincerely grateful to Him. We are all facets of the same diamond, some call that diamond God, some call it science/universe. Different interpretations and takes learning and studying the facet (religions or science) your in to fully understand it. So I respect your view. PEOPLE CAN BEILEVE WHAT THEY WANT TO BELIEVE. Whether or not if its atheism or christianity. I personally am mixed between the too, I don't believe in god but at the same time I will sort of believe out of fear of me being wrong, its why in the constitution it says we have freedom of religon. Believe what you want to believe, as long as you don't enforce your beliefs in other people.

Jason Winn Okay sure we evolved. In my religion class at my school we are taught that evolution(science) and religion go one in one. It is said in Genesis that God created humans and the earth in a week. Are we to believe that humans back then were the exact same shape and form as humans today? Are we to believe that 7 days were actually a full 24 hour day? What I'm trying to get at and I know I'm kind of rambling is..... sure I'll give you that man and woman are products of evolution. It is also said that we evolved from the tiniest of microscopic organisms. Where did those organisms come from? Where did the solar system come from? Did the planets evolve? Where did the Milky Way come from? What has it evolved from? You see I don't want to attack your belief you have every right to believe the way you do. I mean sometimes in my Theology class I'm wondering how or why something happened. There are many open holes with not the best answers. I get it. Sometimes I'm left questioning myself. But you see....... religion isn't the only topic with loopholes.... But of course you can believe anything you want..... I don't fight this "war" in the violent way. I'm just trying to understand other peoples perspectives.

Steven Li You're right there is no proof. That's why it's called a mystery. There are many mysteries in faith but that's the chance we have to take. Now basically your talk about atoms and cells just proves my point more. Where did the atoms come from? And if you believe science is all just straight facts then you are mistaken. Science is half hypothesis and guessing. There are no straight facts on what occurred millions of centuries ago. Now we can predict that dinosaurs ruled the earth and other things. But we can not confirm 100% anything. Technically in this world you really can't prove anything without seeing it first. This whole argument with faith vs facts is complete hoo-hah. Facts is seeing. Faith is believing in ideas and theories we can't see. Whether that be science or religion.

Too bad they didn't realize the error of their ways when Epicurus came along. But religion has since survived Thomas Paine, Charles Darwin, Madeline Murray O'Hare, and it is surviving Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens, Daniel Dennett, and all of the contemporary thinkers. So we might have a while to go yet. But hopefully, the day will come when reason will take over. And then people will admit that God is made of cardboard.

I know that there is no observational "facts" on evolution. I know that the Big Bang theory has no explanation on how it was caused. So to say it was not caused by something or someone is a leap of faith on your part! To be honest short-sighted. Both intelligent design and evolutionist agree the universe is not eternal. What is the more plausible explanation to put one's life on, a intelligent designer or someone who has a presupposition that there is No God and has only partial knowledge of what happen when He said "Let there be...."?

I agree and disagree. I grew up in the church received the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. (Since I was nine years old) therefore I can't deny God does exist. That was my faith years. I am well read in scriptures and seen many lives of Holy Ghost chritans. I am now converting to atheism because God is cruel and usual and does nothing but make Christians look like fools. Praying for decades and lives are not getting better but more so getting worse. I don't believe in him because he's evil. I was pre disposed at a young age to religion go figure I am black. But if I never was exposed to it I still understand the atheist because God don't do shit. Use your own abilities God ain't shit.

Derrick Lindsey I am saying that all of my youth and young adult life was Christianity (by force). i have known that life longer than my adult life. Most of my family and friends come from church. But even outside of the world I lived. I have noticed that people who were Christians are exiting Christianity because GOD IS NOT REAL in their lives. There is no manifestation of God according to his word, according to the prayer line, hardly any praise reports among the congregation. Either God doesn't exist or he is an asshole. That's all I am saying. I have a question for you how long should a person keep believing I something that never manifest it's presence?
