Agree with many of the comments from other viewers. I've taught exercise to adults and teens for 30 years. Jeff is the most detailed and easiest to understand. Also, his ability to explain things clearly without a bunch of nonsense really is a credit to his craft. I have students use his advice frequently in classes I teach. Kudos to Jeff on doing an excellent job!

Freaking Amazing. I've been lifting all my life, have my own personal gym, but I learn sooo much here. I was a serious judo athelete, but never understood how to train several extremely important muscles like the gluteus medius, rotar cuff, serratus anterior, etc. Had these videos been around during my athletic career, I would have been so much more powerful, and would have avoided some serious injuries. I have blogged a bit about training, studied physiology, and I've seen and read much, trained for years. Jeff provides top-notch advice, explain things clearly, and presents well-reasoned arguments, explanations, and demonstrates directly using his own mind-muscle connection power. I get psyched up and want to work out from just watching this man. The value of this information, people! and without disruptive ads. This channel must be Best of KZbin if there is such a thing. Just watching Jeff demonstrate good form strengthens my mind-muscle connection, all of them. My inner drill-sergeant salutes you Jeff with much appreciation and respect.

This guy puts the brains behind the brawn. Probably the most functional training instructor, up there with the best. This type of approach to training will help get a person lean and strong for the long haul, the corrective exercises are of peak importance. Literally getting all of those smaller muscles conditioned probably leads to huge improvements of overall strength and just health in general. *thankful*

That's what people see the most, plus it has a ton to do with your overall strength. Working construction and being fat was always a bad combination for me till I got my back stronger. Bending and twisting different ways can pull a lot of oxygen and put some stress on you but having a stronger back that can help a lot

@joeytoperez4521
@joeytoperez4521 7 жыл бұрын
Shelbyyt27 the Y raise is for the lower traps. The lower traps are meant to keep your shoulder blades back and down for stabilization as you do the raise. Of course they have their part in the lift and not just stabilization but its not actually focused on lower lats. Focus on the lower TRAPS with that exercise.Jeff also films close up because he wants you to pay attention to the muscles the exercises target, what ever is around doesnt matter unless he specifically states that an exercise targets more than one muscle.

lean back and pull to sternum=lats(lower lat), sit fairly straight and pull to chin level=teres major/minor(upper lat), and lastly grab the bar much wider than shoulder width apart and pull to the front or behind neck= mostly mid/low traps(mid-back) and rear delt, depending on how you contract your muscles. Hope this helps.

For asthetics back vs abs Think logically for a second, a girl will stare at your back more than your front. They're sneaky little bugars, they don't want you to notice they're staring at you so they're not going to look at your abs and risk getting caught lol. So work out your back more than your abs, that's where girls look at the most.

Are you a throwing athlete (or an overhead athelete)? This will often cause postural imbalances, like an overactive levator scapulae or extended external rotation causing posterior tilt of the scapula and/or winging of the scapula. The shoulder is a complex joint and many muscles interact together to move it around. If you wore your backpack on your right shoulder for years and your right shoulder is higher, I bet your levator scapular is tight. And possibly your rhomboid.
@johnlong9494
@johnlong9494 6 жыл бұрын
So, I don't know the proper words to address the physiology of things, but what you and others who've responded to you are believing to be traps may not actually be the trapezius (however that's spelled) muscles, but other forms of connective tissue or even a difference in your bone structure. Is your back straight? It would help others figure out what corrective options there are if you identify which shoulder you feel is larger. Both my sister and I have a pronounced difference in the height of whatever you call that area between the left shoulder and the left side of the neck. It mostly seems to be something to do with the tissue formed to the neck. The shoulders sit at even height, but the ______ (lol, insert appropriate body part names) headed from my neck toward my shoulder connects quite obviously about two inches higher on my left than it does on my right. Every now and then that left side is uncomfortably tight. The right doesn't have that issue. Otherwise, I've played sports my whole life and haven't had any issue with it. It's actually structured a lot more solidly than my right "normal" shoulder and takes a beating pretty well! Ps- I always wore my backpack on my right, so it seems to be the opposite of what I perceive is your experience. See if other family members share the trait.

CPAR15 Muscle imbalances are not the same as body dysmorphia. BD is a mental issue where the person does not see themselves as they really are. Most massive bodybuilders are afflicted by this, and that's what leads them to be so huge; They still see a small person in the mirror/pictures. It clouds judgment and alters reality for the person. Kinda like how anorexic people starve themselves because in the mirror they see themselves as fat? Just the reverse. Rich Piana has discussed it a few times in vids, how he feels small.... We all know Rich is one of the largest men on the planet though, but HE doesn't know it.

Thank you for all your wonderful videos. I’ve been a fan of weight lifting since I was 20, however I just followed an amateur approach that I enjoyed and helped me stay in reasonable shape. As I’ve aged my body has made me pay more attention to what I’m doing and how I’m doing it. After dealing with a car accident last year and recovering from torn muscles I was still plagued with pain. MRI shows sever atrophy in the right Teres Minor. I love that your videos are succinct and packed with so much information. In this 12 minute video, you taught me more about what I need to do to recover. I’ve had this pain for years but it kept getting dismissed as a symptom of other things, office job, etc. I’m looking forward to being allowed back on the gym and your materials make me feel encouraged, educated and excited.
