Nikki, how wonderful of you to do this for your Aunt. To be taken advantage of by a contractor is the worst. That is so disrespectful. I'm sure your grandmother is smiling down on you from Heaven. Everything will be beautiful when you are finished. It's going to have that special Nikki touch! ✨✨✨

Agreed. Homeowners can always file a claim against the Contractor via the Contractors State License Board or their Surety company holding their bond. I filed and won my case. Unfortunately, most homeowners opt not too file which is why many contractors continue this behavior.

Nikki, I grew up in a 1957, 3 bedroom, one story slab house in Iowa. My parents had the option of a smaller kitchen with a utility room that housed the washer, dryer, water heater and furnace. My mother opted for no utility and what was called a farm kitchen. We were a family of 6, three years later 7. Our washer and dryer were on both sides of the kitchen sink. The furnace and water heater were in a hallway closet. It was small, about 1100 square feet. We as kids had no idea how small it was. I sit here thinking how grateful I am! A 3500 sq ft, ranch home with finished basement. A lovely but smallish first floor laundry room, and a wonderful husband Of 44 years! ❤️ My mother would have given anything to raise 5 kids here!

Hi Nikki!! It's been a while since I commented. This hits home for me for similar reasons. I wish more of us would cherish the treasure of the family home. No matter how old or the size. When properly maintained, upgrading gives a special feeling, new life. Before you moved to your apt/condo, I noticed your infamous customized coffee table was gone. The same thing happened to me. I’m a widow, and sadly, the contractor I had did a horrible job and my daughter and son-in-law are redoing the contractor’s shoddy work and finishing the project. I’ve already spent a small fortune and am having to continue to spend yo finish this up.
