I was thinking of trying to save up to go to one of these lodges. which one would you recommend most?

Aaron, that is a tough question to answer. There are several variables to consider such as "when" "what species" and "price" range. Some lodges are salmon only, brook trout only, or both. You can contact us when you're ready and we can happily offer you info and guidance to help in your decision making.

+Trouta Holic Yes, Atlantic Salmon return to the sea after spawning :) Then they return to the same river to spawn again the next season.

I looked through all the federal and provincial fisheries law and couldn't find any law stating that floating lines a the only kind permitted in NFLD and Lab. From what I can tell it's a myth passed between anglers and TV shows.

The fly isn't allowed to sink. Says that in the book

@@pittmannn1 No it doesn't say the fly can't sink. Read the definition of artificial fly in the regulations: artificial fly means (a) in the rivers set out in Schedule I, a single barbless hook, or a single hook whose barbs have been compressed so as to be in complete contact with the shaft of the hook, that is dressed with materials likely to attract fish and does not have a weight that causes the fly to sink, a baited hook, or a spinning or undulating device; The fly can't be weighted but this says nothing about sinking or weighted line which is not the same thing as a weighted fly. It's the same definition as in the maritimes fishery regulations where people regularly use sink tips to fish for salmon but no weight on the fly itself. Not that I would use a sink tip or weighted line in nfld under these conditions just saying because the new fly fisher (in almost all their nfld videos) and locals say that a weighted line is not permitted but that is not correct.

@@pittmannn1 come on Che, you know better then this. Rule is only fly cannot have weight attached. It says nothing in the guide or regulations about fly not being allowed to sink.
