I met Rob Thomas when they came to Burlington Vermont back in 98 and he told me this was his favorite song on the album:) He hugged me and I made him laugh when I asked him if he had a significant other lol. This album was a huge part of my life in the 90s and early 2000s. Was always playing in my car. I’ve lost that love of my life. He was murdered 5 years ago. His killer will finally be sentenced in September. He was with me at this concert. I remember it so clearly. And I’ve still got the shirt rob autographed for me. I’ll always treasure it ❤️

Its 2023 and im listening to this Masterpiece of a Song and The lyrics hit hard. I love Matchbox 20 and Rob Thomas gives me Goosebumps. I miss the 90's a time when life was a lot simpler. We had our ups and downs but nothing compared to what's going on Today. This music makes you sit and reminisce about life. I cry every time listening to this Song because the way Rob sings and expresses how I've felt at times. This Song was so underated. Rob Thomas makes me feel better every time I listen to him sing. The comment can be interpreted differently. You can get it back to good. Sorta. When you get over that hill in your mind, of wanting to make it work, when you totally accept the result, and you can see the purity of the love you once had, an unprecedented feeling of joy will sweep across your soul, knowing that you had something unquestionably real and infinitely beautiful. It makes you incredibly happy and optimistic about life and love. Here's the kicker: Your joy and laughter brings an unshakable partner you simply cannot ignore. The incredible sadness that must accompany this joy, knowing that you had it and let it slip away. Bittersweetness of humanity. You can only feel this joy, if you truly wallow in the disappointness. Tears of joy turn into tears of sadness it an instant. But this is important: you need to truly love the sadness. This deep, deep pain

Lyrics: It's nothing, it's so normal You just stand there I could say so much But I don't go there 'cause I don't want to And I was thinking if you were lonely Maybe we could leave here and no one would know At least not to the point that we would think so And everyone here knows everyone here is thinking about somebody else Well, it's best if we all keep this under our heads And I couldn't tell If anyone here was feeling the way I do But I'm lonely now And I don't know how To get it back to good This don't mean that, you own me Well, this ain't no good In fact it's phony as hell Yeah, but things worked out just like you wanted to If you see me out you don't know me Try to turn your head Try to give me some room How to figure out just what I'm gonna do 'Cause everyone here hates everyone here for doing just like they do And it's best if we all keep this quiet instead And I couldn't tell Why everyone here was doing me like they do But I'm sorry now And I don't know how To get it back to good Well, everyone here is wondering what it's like to be with somebody else And everyone here's to blame And everyone here gets caught up in the pleasure of the pain Well, everyone here hides shades of shame But looking inside we're the same, we're the same And we're all grown now Yeah, but we don't know how To get it back to good Well, everyone here knows everyone here is thinking 'bout somebody else And it's best if we all keep this under our heads, in our heads See, I couldn't tell 'bout If anyone here was feeling the way I do That's over now And I don't know how Guess it's over now There's no getting back to good

To be totally and brutally honest, this video was a little bit fast for me, but the song absolutely gives me the chills and gets me teary-eyed. Every time I watch the video of the song by Matchbox 20, I almost want to cry. I haven't heard this song in probably 20 or twenty-five years. Great stuff.

An excellent choice of place for this song. I especially love the line "everyone gets caught up in the pleasure of the pain". That's very true of so many different things with humans; emotional drama, whining about one's problems without an intention to fix them, S&M, sexual violence (pleasure of causing someone else pain), wars, and so much more.

@mackdaddy6847

it's actually, everyone here gets caught up in the pleasure OR the pain....as in , liking either pleasure or pain too much, like to an extreme. We must remember what Socrates taught us....too much of anything can be bad. We should strive for harmonious balance, in all things, & to stay true to our Maker, and ourselves, to truly live life right.

Well everytime I would see that guy after that he would say hello. So if you are that guy and you pass a homeless person just please acknowledge them with a hello.
