Someone found an easier solution: Hold down the Power, OK, and 'Reticle' buttons for about 12-15 seconds and the scope will power off. Turn it back on and everything should be OK. It worked for me.

Took me forever to get the update button to turn blue. Followed your instructions to the letter and wouldn't work. Finally got it to work by running without using Administrator. Worked instantly and fixed my blank screen and was then able to install current firmware. So anyone else unable to get UPDATE to show blue, close the programme and reopen without Administrator

UPDATE.. Sooooo.. I picked up the ATN 4K Pro after selling a Sightmark Wraith due to base mounting issues, poor field of view, and lack of audio. I was looking at the new wraith 4K Max, but unfortunately, it comes standard with the same substandard base, which does not like proper torque specs. Long story short, I'm super happy with it. It's actually an amazing scope. Video and audio is great. The menu is super intuitive, so if you can work your smartphone or a basic ballistics app like Strelok on your phone, you can blaze through the menu and settings no problem. Scope feels the opposite of cheap like I've heard. Scope ensous quality and feels well built like a German tank, while maintaining a Swiss smartness to it. The IR light that comes with it isn't the best but it'll do. But the ballistics calculator is straight amazing. The scope will only be as accurate as the info you plug into it. But if you OCD on ballistics and do your homework like I do, this thing will be super accurate. All you have to do is range your target and plug in the distance, and it adjusts holdover for you. Takes the extra step of calculating your drop out of the equation and it's spot-on for me out to any yardage so far. So far so good. The scope is brilliant..

Is there something I'm missing here? I held down simultaneously the POWER + DOWN button and nothing shows up. The power button alone now after being pressed will not cause the screen to power on so I had to hold it down until I heard a click then press the POWER button again for the scope to turn on. After pressing the POWER and holding it-it asks if I want to shut off the device and I choose YES. It shuts down and my USB cable is connected to my computer. I have the screen available and again upon pressing DOWN + POWER buttons nothing happens and the whole thing repeats itself. The UPDATE button doesn't become BLUE. UPDATE: I've even restarted my computer for the ATN software to capture my USB device. I press the DOWN + POWER button and the UPDATE button on the program just flickers and does not stay solid and even trying to click on it does nothing. It seems like the scope doesn't want to connect to the program for it to start programming. I've uploaded to show what the I see when pressing both DOWN + POWER buttons. Again, it seems like the device wants to connect, but then it doesn't. I'm waiting for the blue UPDATE button to stay blue, but it doesn't and you can see me clicking my mouse on the button regardless and nothing happens. FINAL UPDATE: 4/14/2020 I do not know why my USB ports was causing that, but all I did was switch to another USB ports and the UPDATE button finally stayed "LIT BLUE" for me and I was able to finish the EFL programming firmware plus the update the current firmware of 3.1.08.451 onto my X-Sight 4K Pro. Whew!!!! What a relief. Glad I save my zero information and profile and imported them back to the scope. I will verify my zero again and re-zero the ABL 1000 I have attached to it. I hope that the blank screen issue will be fixed from now on.

Figured it out! Took a few tries, and will need a laptop & a microSD adapter but: When it fails (the 6:45 mark), use the left and right buttons to open the menu (this is how the "ok" button works until update is complete) Navigate to system settings, under one of the tabs, use the wheel to scroll down to "format sd" and hit ok, yes. Put the microSD into the adapter in your laptop. Download latest firmware from atncorp firmware, (right now for my 5-20 4k it says 3 1 12 510) Copy the .bin file onto the main file on the SD, not any folders inside. With the scope off, plug in the MicroSD. Turn the scope on. "Firmware Update?" Hit "Yes" Ok. It will take a moment updating. The scope should be up-to-date and the buttons will act how they should. As the manual states, format the card after the update, and then factory reset the scope. This will not effect firmware. Hope this helps. This video got me from a scope that the screen wouldn't turn on, all the way to the update failed portion nearing the end. Going to Paste this into a normal comment as well so others can see it without digging into replies.

if you have a Thor4 the web update does not give you the correct file, as well contact the support line they will email you the newest ELF file which you will not need to do the update from the web as posted in this video. if you want to update it in your current state download the firmware onto root file of SD and insert into powered down device power up device and you will be prompted to update.

Dude, you need to make some corrections in your tutorial video. Say right click when you mean rick click, and you need to LEAD off with telling people to not open the .elf file BEFORE you tell people to download it.

I just had this issue Sunday when I was getting to the stand. Not knowing the cause is frustrating. I then noticed my serial number matches the one in the video. I guess that is the reason it was a refurb deal. ATN needs to update the firmware to save ALL configurable settings and ammo profiles to the SD card anytime something is changed without me doing it. At least then recovering from a firmware restore is easier.

Screen is froze on the night vision setting and won’t shut off. Tried the power and down buttons won’t do anything. Tried restarting computer and switching USB ports. Still can’t get the update to light up.

Will this fix a thor4 that the screen whites out for several seconds when I shoot? Like I still have crosshairs and atn logo in bottom corner but it’s like the shutter hangs open or something and doesn’t fix unless I Nuc or it does auto nuc

What would I do if my atn thor 4 won't turn on. I bought it did the firmware update, and everything worked fine. the next dayI tried to turn it on it nothing.⁰ happened. If I hold per button down for 15 sex I here a click but screen doesn't turn on.

So if you loaded the latest firmware , after this video, and you go to use it the next season, don’t tell me this scope knows when theres a new update out there. and it still freezes up. Its a system glitch they cannot fix.

I just bought a thor 4 like 4 days ago, updated to latest firmware on same day but today it froze when i powered it on. Buttons were unresponsive and i ended up having to hold power for 15 seconds. Its visual quality also doesnt seem as good as what i see on peoples youtube videos... Everything just seems so washed out even on high contrast.

Hunt Shoot Offroad hold power button for 15-20 seconds and it will turn off

You can't connect to the x sight pro if it freezes on on. So you need a hard shut down.

@@AtncorpOptics its been tried on two win 10 pcs now both restarted it will not work on either one, PC settings show no compatible driver for the new device, but because the bin update file has been removed from the ATN firmware download list so i cant just put it on a SD card and try that either.

Yes this will erase your zero. You can write down your X & Y coordinates and save your bullet profile. That way you will not have to re-zero after doing this guide.

Yesterday I visit the ATN Corp website to see if here was an updated firmware available for my ATN ThOR 4 - I did see that there was a new firmware available for my scope (3.3.11.480) I download it the bin file and copied it on my microSD card. After this I followed the update instruction. After all these steps I now have the "ERR" displayed in the scope. I then tried the ATN Factory restore firmware for the OBSIDIAN 4 DEVICE SERIES I was hoping that this would help and again I still have the "ERR" displayed. Can you or anyone else help me with this situation? The reason I wanted to upload the latest firmware it was because it would not hookup to my iPhone, it kept telling the password I was using (atnsmarthd) to pair up my scope to my iPhone was incorrect - At this point I can't use the OBSIDIAN 4 APP and with "ERR" don't know if my scope will function correctly.

Hey. Had the same with my X-SIGHT 4K PRO. You might need to do a compass Calibration to get rid of the ERR.

@@aajr1961 To get rid of the ERR message spin the scope in figure 8 in one hand, the ERR message should change to CAL. Then you need to spin the scope on its three-axis to calibrate the compass.
