This is an update from my video of 2015 (see: • Atomic Amps: Amplifire ). Amplifire firmware, system and editor software has enjoyed substantial upgrades since.
The Atomic Amplifire is a very portable, capable and relatively affordable modelling solution that should be considered when shopping for your stage or studio needs. It sounds great, is easy to use and won't break the bank. That's three wins, I reckon.
For the record these latest Amplifire videos were unsolicited by Atomic or anyone associated with them. I simply felt that the firmware had come a long way and decided to do them for fun and to help them spread the (very good) word.
Guitar: Jim Root Telecaster with SD JB/Jazz pickups and Fender S1 switching system.
Amp: Atomic Amplifire/Studio Devil models
Cables: Providence
Power Supply: Supplied
Mic: Samson Airline77 (me)
Camera: Canon 60D (me) and iPhone 6+ (pedal)
Soundcard: AVID Mbox Pro 3
Computer: Apple iMac 27" i7 3.4 GHz 16 GB RAM
Software: Pro Tools 12.4, Waves L3-16 Limiter (to keep levels in check at output), Apple Final Cut Pro X (video editing and KZbin compression).

Hi Brett, short question; would it be possible (on a patch by patch basis) to run two signals in to this, split magnetic into input and a piezo line into FX return and change between them? And if so, could you then load up a patch for the piezo with no Amp sim, but only a 3rd party IR of an acoustic and FX?

hey mate, great video. just wondering if i were to buy this, what would be the best speaker to use (affordable, not top of the range)? and if i were to play live with this setup, can i pre load sounds to the pedal (stomp box style) so i can play a few different songs in a row without mucking around with buttons.... say the first song is AC DC and the second is Pink Floyd and the third is mettalica...etc..... thanks

Do you have a video of this with audio captured by your lavalier mic without the protools enhancements? Thank you. Love the Bogner pedal videos by the way. Cheers! = )
@BrettKingman
@BrettKingman 8 жыл бұрын
+wabi sari Yes, there is an audio track captured from the desktop monitors to the headset mic. But I play at 'battle' volume and the mic freaks out so it would be completely pointless releasing it. If you're using one of these devices properly it would be fed to a full range system like a small or large PA or a studio sound system. Therefore I have delivered this video in as pure form as possible - straight to an MBox via the analog outputs with zero 'enhancements' except for a limiter on the master fader. What you hear, Wabi Sabi, is what you get. If I gave you a miked up monitor mix it would be an enormously wrong representation.
@wabisabi6802
@wabisabi6802 8 жыл бұрын
***** Ok, Thanks. It's just that most of the time, I can judge the sound better if I can listen to how the sound interacts with the 'room' at 'battle volumes'. Still, it sounds fine by the way in your video.Thanks again. = )

Hi brett! Greetings from indonesia. I recently took interest on the amplifire and essentially looking for something that i can use in many situation (with real amp, straight to PA or both) and don't want anything too big. Would you recommend this over the other? Oh and i used to owned line6 products so i am quite familiar with modelling. Great video! Cheers ;)

Hi Nada. This would be a fine choice if you want versatility, good sound and portability. I guess the next choice up would be the AX8 or Helix, but I've never tried the latter so I can't comment on it. I'm loving the AX8, though, and the AmpliFire is great too.

Must admit my first introduction to this red deception, looks great and sounds unbelievable! It's funny we here something like this and immediately your head scans all over your pedal boards....can I get that sound, yeah, yeah....maybe but not after preseting twiddling etc etc etc. Impressive, thats about what I paid for an ME50 around 10+ yrs ago and yet the software issues of these machines are smaller and carry a real boot! Its all in the hearing as the cake is in the eating, bet ya didn't leave anything left over on this one Burgs? Sometimes I think your just having too much fun.

+Daryl Comline Funnily enough (re your last question) I do have an 'extra' video. A video that I shot first - but the friggin' camera on me was out of focus! ...Which is probably a good thing. So, I'll edit it down and upload it, but you guys have to be aware that it's a B-grade vid because of that unfortunate faux pas. However, it does contain other patches and tiny spurts of inspiration which I think aren't too bad. Stand by...

I'm really interested (as well having personal interest), how come you haven't done Blug amp1? So far (other than less features ofc) amp1 seems to be the only compact size higher range competitor to atomic. Other than that, absolutely awesome videos. It's obvious you take time to do these.

I've asked and have extended my interest numerous times to Thomas Blug and his manufacturing site, but to no avail. The Blug Amp and the Helix continue to elude me so I can only assume that the manufacturers aren't interested on my take on their respective products. I'm sorry, but I have tried. Thanks for your kind words, they are appreciated greatly.

+Brett Kingman the only thing that stops it from being the most popular modeler IMO is the lack of audio over USB... I know thats not it's thing, but man so many people are buying Helixes is that is sounds close enough to an AX8/AxeFX for them and has USB audio... And it's pretty. But for the better part of a grand less... This thing just smokes! Maybe they'll make a "pro" version with that eventually... Anyway.. It's a crazy good time to be a guitarist... Aside from no one buying guitar music...lol.
