Are you saying that I can shoot video with my Panasonic HVX200 in 24fps and record it to the ninja and export to PowerDirector without effecting the look and quality of the footage? Also it gives me two sets of footage in different codecs because I will also have the footage on the P2 cards,

I love mine. I hope that new update comes with compatibility to do 1080p/120fps with the Z6. I just tried it and you can't go above 60 fps on any resolution.

In studio 5 feet away with boom moc apart from this monitor mounted to the cage ......can your mics pick the fan noise up? All my lights gave no fans and neither does my feelworld 7inch monitor

Does the audio work in playback? I recorded on the ninja V and for some reason, I couldn't hear any audio even when I import it into my computer.

One point: Premiere pro doesn't work with Prores raw... (For now it's just possible with the beta version IF (and only if) you have a NVIDIA gpu)

Awesome tool! biggest downside is that it only records in the larger codecs. if I wanted a cinema camera I would have bought a cinema camera. when importing several mirrorless cameras footage and trying to match file size It's not possible. why is there no xavc h.265 codec?

Thank you for posting! Question: The demo Atomos video’s show changing from SDR (log) to HLG and PQ gaining several stops of highlights - recovery. How real is that in ProRes? I’m experimenting capturing via HDMI to my Blackmagic Mini Recorder to MBP with thunderbolt cable. Anything that is clipped or nearly clipped in my JVC LS-300 while shooting Log (J-LOG) ... clipped is clipped. Nothing I can recover in post. So is that visual really just for comparing SDR to a better monitor and walking. Your exposure up for shadows, but comparing to an existing monitor that gives waveforms... anything that is about 90-100 is likely to be non recoverable? I already have a Lilliput 7” 663 monitor with waveform so I can already monitor (with waveform) my exposure prettty well. OF course the image is washed out.. no Luts in monitor. So this might not give me better exposure control for highlights, but at least be a better image and ProRes recording for better grading even though my camera only outputs 8 bit live? Fair to say?

Dumb question maybe, but I'm having a hard time finding answers online. I shoot with an A7III, what codecs and settings will this recorder enable for me. As far as I can tell the A7III can output 4:2:2 with a recorder, but not 10 bit. What codecs would I want to use if I paired this with an A7III and what settings would it enable. Thanks!

I´m very interested in this question too. What kind of file in therms of bit you get with this combo? I´ve used the atomos shogun with the A7RII and even tough the specs don´t allow 10 bit external, the final video description said it does. I´m currently shooting with the A7III also.

I'm using a Ninja V with a Sony A7s II. You can shoot in Apple ProRes LT, 422 or HQ or Avid DNxHR HQX. HQ, SQ, LB, in 4K up to 60fps (The A7s II doesn't output 120fps via HDMI, only 60p. I don't know about the A7III). Which means a much higher data rate than the internal 100Mbps, and a much better image processing from the sensor than the internal done by the camera. It's much more easy to edit with uncompressed footage in ProRes than compressed XAVC-S. In addition you have up to 8 digital audio tracks via HDMI (only 2 from the A7 III) and 2 analog tracks via the analog mic/line minijack input. All embedded in a single video+audio file with different tracks, everything in sync. You can also preview the LOG footage with the HDR function so you can see more dynamic range that is being recorded but you couldn't see from a not HDR monitoring (the final image is the same, it's just much better to preview and expose it while recording). A7s II outputs 4:2:2 8 bit while internal is 4:2:0 8 bit (A7III is the same as far as I know). Even though you can record 10 bit with the Atomos, but if the camera doesn't output that (like the Sonys) it will still be 8 bit information inside a "10 bit" capsule, so no benefits here. But the 4:2:2 gives more color info and grading latitude, prevent color artifacts when applying heavy corrections, etc. You can bypass the 30 minutes recording with the Atomos. And a much better screen to focus, frame, playback the files, load and display LUTs and many more.

Why is 1080p a factor for editing slow motion? Just make sure you have the highest FPS your camera allows for, and you can slow it out in post.

The Ninja V/any Atomos recorder doesn't make it record better quality but is capable of recording at a better quality -- It is dependent on what the camera can output. For example, a sony a7 series camera cannot output 10bit, so it can only record 4k/30 422 8bit

As with selling anything, whoever sells this the questions must be asked... What is included what is excluded and what if an "Extra cost." Such as does the unit come with an SSD MINI or is that extra. What are the optional batteries available? Does it or can it Be "charged with a USB connect, like a cell phone in a car? And does it come with or not the AC direct plug in? ALL THIS BECAUSE PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW THE TOTAL COST, not just the pieces.

So internally you can only shoot in 4:2:0 out to a monitor you can record 4:2:2 this means you will be getting a lot more colors and color gradations. this will be really helpful if you want to do any color grading in post without getting artifacts.

The default XML is FCPXML for working in final cut but you can change this to regular XML on the computer for work in premiere and I would assume Davinci.

I have a Sony a7iii and recently purchased the Ninja v. I'd like to record to the Ninja different flavors of HD. However, when I set the Sony Camera to 1080/30p and then plug in the Ninja the recorder my HD section become greyed out and the Ninja defaults to the Sony's highest quality output 4k/23.976! How can I work around this so I can record other flavors/resolutions/frame rates of HD without the Ninja defaulting to 4k?

Checkered Flag Films there is a setting in the A7iii to select what the camera does when you plug in HDMI. It defaults to the highest resolution possible but you can change that manually in the camera.

I have the Lumix G9 which when paired with the Ninja V can record 4K60p in 4:2:2 10 Bit with no time limit (well actually the storage capacity of the SSD in the Ninja V determines the limit). It works well but you must buy the proper V2.0a compliant HDMI cable and also 6G compatible SSD. Neither one is cheap.

Hot Yoga Asheville you have to format the ssd you can do this on the computer or on the ninja by clicking the disk space left display and format
