Never are their licenses on the line. And absolutely not prison. Or, perhaps in *very* rare cases, where someone has quite literally killed someone else, but then it's too late - I really don't know, I'm no expert. @@tessiepinkman it’s more profitable to the city and country if we sustain serious injuries or die. /s but most of america is inaccessible without a car at minimum. Europe’s public transit is so sane and well structured because yall were built during the walking era. America was just over 100 yo when the first cars came out, so we are built with driving in mind. Taking someone’s license away can totally disenfranchise someone. No work, no buying groceries, no nothing. Although I do think more ppl deserve lost licenses. Drunks getting caught on their 5th DUI its like are you fucking kidding me
@AwesomeTea Жыл бұрын
@@tessiepinkman Outside of a handful of cities, there is not enough transit access nationwide to live without a car. We can look the other way for a lot more given that removing a license essentially immobilizes the person for years, if not the rest of their life. Imagine trying to maintain a job when the only way to get from a residential district to a business or commercial one is a 2.5 hour series of bus rides and walks each way. Not so much in issue in Chicago or NYC, but good luck living without a car in Texas. The US, Canada, Malaysia, and other car dependent nations take a more cautious approach to voiding licenses for these reasons. A good way to think of it from a Scandinavian stand point would be if being a nuisance or even a potential danger to others in public would bar you from using bikes, buses, trams, and the metro forever. Then imagine if after receiving those penalties you also had no grocery stores, clinics, department stores, or restaurants within a 3-5km radius. Then imagine deleting ~60-80% of all walking infrastructure. Now you have the living environment of a car dependent nation outside of the few properly zoned and transit dense areas that they still maintain. Still, if you injure someone they have the right to take you to court and even if there was no malicious intent and the injuries resulted from an accident you can still get jail time and have to pay for their medical bills and associated costs. Depending on the circumstances even if the victim declines to take action you may still face trial for dangerous driving. If you kill someone you are probably going to jail regardless of intent. The actual penalties depend heavily as each state and county has a degree of control over these matters.

That's actually terrifying. I remember when I was learning how to drive, in a tiny town, and apparently, I cut someone off. I didn't see him, my mother (who was teaching me) didn't see him. He started following our car. We weren't sure why, or if, he was following us at first but after taking a bunch of turns, he was still following us. Not honking, but just following us. We went into a parking lot, and he drove next to us. He was mad, saying I cut him off, and that I wouldn't "survive" on the road if I was in the USA. Keep in mind, this happened in a small town, in Canada, and there was no accident. He was mad, but I feel like he held back some anger when he realized he was following a 17-year-old driver with her mother. That incident scared me from learning how to drive for a while.

This was back in the days of pumping gas before paying, and his co-worker pulled up behind the car that cut them off, sprayed that driver with gasoline, and set them on fire, then drove away. I don't remember how the story resolved, because the important part was that someone he worked closely with, not only was capable of doing that, they also thought it was a reasonable response to getting cut off. My dad got into a very mild fender-bender (parking lot - an actual 10mph widdle dent - I was in the car at the time) in CA and was slapped with a bill for several thousand dollars after the cvnt *totaled her car* a week later. I was the witness. She was arrested for fraud, though not after a whole lot of bullshit. This was back in 1991 - it's a real problem in CA and apparently has been since the 60s or so I'm told by people much older than I am

Hello I work with insurance companies. My theory on why he was able to get away with this so many times is 2 fold. 1. It was mostly different insurance providers that he filed a claim through. And when it was the same one there was enough delay between that he got a different adjuster (there's alot of turnover in this industry and most dont run ur name thru their database to confirm if u are doing this on repeat) 2. The DMV is more likely to notice the repeated totaled vehicles but he's in CA they are months behind and it would require an internal audit

I some how got the same adjuster 7 years apart.

That must be a US thing then, my parked Motorbike was hit by a truck turning and as I didn't make a claim I didn't think it needed to go on my insurance application the following year, because it wasn't declared I couldn't get insurance ...

I can't believe people still think it's a good idea to commit insurance fraud, let alone post about it on TikTok for the world to see. It's unfortunate that some people feel the need to resort to illegal activities to make a quick buck, especially when it puts others at risk. What's even more troubling is that this couple thought they could get away with it by documenting their crimes on social media. It's a reminder that we need to be careful about what we share online and the consequences that our actions can have. However, it's also satisfying to see that the justice system is working and that these individuals are being held accountable for their actions. Hopefully, this serves as a warning to others who may be considering committing similar crimes.

Dude, people drive so insane nowadays!!! You're so right though, JUST KEEP GOING, And I can't understand how a 16yo can have a license to drive a huge ton vehicle, but you can't smoke cigarettes or join the army until your 18 and drinking is 21!!!!???? Why can't you get your permit at 16 and drive for 4 years and then take the test!!!! I was a total idiot when I was 16, and that was back in the 90s early 2000s when there wasn't really as much traffic as now!! There definitely wasn't any distractions except the radio, lol!! Edit: Oh and if y'all see this I hope the wife and baby are doing well!!!! Thanks for the content, man!!!

Everyone should assume that there are idiots on the road and drive defensively. Assume that the car in front could slam on their brakes for an emergency, and follow at a safe distance so you can stop in time. If someone cuts you off or is driving dangerously, slow down and put as much space as possible between you.
