I fucked my work computer's Edge application to the point that I'm the only one allowed to use Firefox because they can't fix it. Edit: For the curious, we get locked out of any online application if Windows detects an available system update. I was unaware of this and thought I could fix the lock out (which doesn't tell you why you're locked out) cause I own a gaming PC and am very smart yes yes. I think I logged out of my account on Edge, couldn't log back in because of the lock out, then just started deleting profiles in Explorer (Idk why I did this). I ended up with a work profile I can't log in to and a "Profile 1" that I can log in to but can't access the network from. IT updated Windows, couldn't fix Edge (I guess he didn't want to just uninstall and reinstall it?), and then told me to switch to Firefox.

As an IT guy, I love when someone fucks up so bad I have to actually pay attention and figure out a real solution, it actually makes my brain work. Solving the same problem 300 times a year that just takes clicking a few things, that you know you'll have to do for them again next time because they'll never learn, is the most boring shit imaginable. With the IT thing, I constantly get users that are either over the moon when I say its gonna be longer than 5 minutes, or they abuse me because they have a meeting 5 minutes ago and their camera, microphone, keyboard, screen and laptop are all stuffed. Dude, take the free 2nd lunch and reschedule. Also, nothing more annoying than seeing a pattern of problems all day, then all of a sudden, the standard "fix" doesnt work, and u end up bleeding in to other user's alloted time, so its kind of a d move to feel satisfaction from that, but I dooooo get it.

My worst nightmare is always the person who claims something has been broken for ages and blames you for not psychicly knowing they have a problem and fixing it before they were forced to raise a ticket to report it. Also absolutely maddening how many tickets contain multiple requests, but they act like splitting the ticket up is the worst thing in the world. The least maddening issue I see a lot is the people who make their lack of planning your issue. Raising a ticket to say you need 20 new computers imaged with specific software for tomorrow morning is a joke, we don't keep 20 spare computers sat around just in case someone suddenly needs a bunch, we have like 5 just in case we need spares(in case computers can't be repaired we can quickly swap them out). Similarly getting told December 23rd that they're going to run a boxing day sale so we need a bunch of prep work done by IT. As if they expect us to say "that's fine, I wasn't planning to do anything else for the next 2 days anyway," it's ridiculous.

13:15 if we want to talk about politics, i got a perfect starting argument for this... because at least supposedly (statistics i've seen about the ar-15, as i live in california and don't own a gun) the ar-15 is ALOT easier to handle and use without training, meaning you can have an easier time defending your home with it than with a pistol or shotgun, shotguns have more spread but are less accurate as well, so while technically better at close range, the average person would probably hit in a more important spot while defending themselves with an ar-15... the conversation shouldn't be about banning an ar-15, the question should be how we keep them out of the hands of people like the ones that shoot up schools in the first place, or other public places. banning it, would just move them to another weapon thats not banned for those same people to do the same thing just with another weapon. we should be working on fixing the mental health of the country at large since that is the main reason that shit happens in the first place (no republicans it isn't because of violent video games, and no democrats it isn't the weapons fault either, get both your shit together and fix the god damn mental health of the nation jesus christ...)
