this isn't even the best part of AoT. The next episode is the best just showing how mad this show actually is.
@shayantanbanerjee96242 жыл бұрын
Just to clear something. Time travel is not a thing in AoT. Only the memories and will to act travel. Zeke and eren were there the entire time, but grisha saw Zeke only twice. One was when he was in the basement and the other was outside the cave. Again, it's the memories. Grisha saw everything from eren's pov. The reason being eren was standing behind grisha and looking at Zeke on those two occasions. That's why grisha was able to see zeke only on those two occasions. Another thing, grisha never saw future eren, he just felt his presence. In the 🗝️ scene when grisha is looking at future eren, he's basically looking at himself in 3rd person. Also in the cave grisha felt eren's angry presence behind him. Grisha was literally being watched by eren all along and grisha knew this. Lastly, attack titan can see the future is a very oversimplified explanation. Actually it's the memories sent by eren to the past that makes AT see the future. Same happened when eren passed the memories to Kruger (the owl) when se said "you have to save Mikasa and Armin" to grisha. You may think how grisha touched Zeke. It's just that he was hugging the space where zeke was standing. In real time.if anyone had seen grisha would have thought grisha is just hugging air. That scene symbolises a "fake" hug or a "hollow" hug symbolising it's too late for.grisha to.redeem himself as zeke's father. Hope this adds another layer to what you already understood ☺️

thing is it's thanks to the founding titan eren managed to manipulate memories, not the Attack titan, the attack titan was only the way for his father to connect with them in the future. not gonna spoil anything but more will be explained near the end.

Femal Titan's versatility, armoured Titan's defence, beast Titan's throw, cart Titan's durability, colossal's heat and steam, warhammer's ability to create weapons, jaw's mobility and strong jaws . All are physical. Moving forward and not obeying and seeking freedom is something that is mental, it comes from within. Now Titan's don't have a mind or brain to feel those things. The holder of the titan does. Throughout history attack titan seeking freedom.was actually eren's will. He sent memories to the past to make the attack titan inheritor to keep moving forward so everything could come to.this point. Eren IS the Attack Titan. *NO SPOILERS* Zeke fell on the soft sand, he could feel it slipping out of this hand. "I am back", Zeke thought, "back at the coordinate". He could see Eren stand at the same place with the same shackles in his hands. "How could this be ? The attack titan can see the future" Zeke looked at Eren who was staring down at him. Those eyes. It's as if the deep daggers inside those eyes stabbed Zeke right in the heart. Zeke couldn't move an inch. They were transfixed in the same position eyes locked. Victim Child of Liberio against the Angry child of Paradise. Empathy against Sacrifice. "Eren knew all along. He has seen the future." Zeke wondered. Tears welled up in his eyes again. He cannot save a child who has no will to change. A child who is willing to sacrifice multiple lives to reach his endgoal. "What did all this bloodshed bring Eren ? What is it you want ? What are you trying to accomplish?. Talk to me Eren" Unending wave of questions flooded Zeke's brain, but he realised he didn't say a word out aloud. Fear-stricken, Zeke's mouth was left wide open. Eren with an emotionless face saw Zeke trembling in fear. Zeke couldn't move a muscle. He was not a child who was to be saved, not a brother who could see the goal behind Zeke's plan. Eren was not a bystander while the walls of Paradise still stand. These walls representing ignorance, pain and slavery. He is not just a mother's son who wants revenge. He is the embodiment of all the memories of the future and the past, the accumulation of the pain of the future, the past and the present. He is a devil who submits to no one , who charges towards freedom, a rebel against this cruel world. He is, what he was before he was born and what he will be long till his death, The Attack Titan.

I think Eren started seeing a lot after he kissed Historias hand, maybe that was necessary for him to unlock all the memories. He was so deeply affected after it too. Makes you wonder about the "If we kill all our enemies there will we truly be free?" Did he see himself doing that?
@Othomqcpwr2 жыл бұрын
We see in the episode what he saw when he kissed historia's hand. There is the massacre of the Reiss family (preview seems to indicate that we'll get another POV next week) that we saw in s3, but current Eren sent memories of the future to Grisha during that time, so S3 Eren saw those memories and so he saw part of the future. Grisha says that he saw Eren accomplish his objective, and that he was horrified by it. Then we see Eren talking about killing everybody across the ocean after seeing those memories and the OP is literally called the Rumbling, so we can guess what the horrible plan is. The sequence ends with Grisha telling Zeke to stop Eren and immediately after, we see Eren with a look of shock on his face. That's because his father, an eldian restorationist, is rejecting Eren and the future where Eldia (at least Paradis maybe not the Eldians outside Paradis since he was asking if we kill all of our enemies on the other side of the sea) is saved because of the destruction required to accomplish that. So Eren didn't see the whole thing, just what current Eren showed Grisha (paradoxically, he could only show Grisha that, because that's the only part of the future he saw through memories), Grisha said "Why won't you show me everything?" indicating that the attack titan can choose which memory to show and that previous users can't see the whole future.
@dripmonke61122 жыл бұрын
When Rod and Historia touched him in cave scene why didn't he get all the memories there? Was there something in the way? Who or what didn't allow him to see all the memories of the subjects of Ymir past, present, and future?
@taederias18042 жыл бұрын
@@Othomqcpwr Note: it is not possible to decide either way from what has been shown so far, but Eren isn’t actually restricted to sending memories received via Grisha as this all goes down, he doesn’t need to “live-stream” it so to speak (whether he could or not). All that is required is that at some point in the future he use the Attack Titan to send back memories of these scenes to Grisha - to the exact point in time that Eren and Zeke were, in this episode, watching a “recording” of via the Founder. Eren and Zeke would then see Grisha act as if the interactions happened in real time, directly (Grisha back then would also be able to see Zeke too whenever the latter is in Eren’s sights). Point is, there is no rush, Eren can send back the memories of these scenes and others at whatever point in the future.

It's trippy but it's not like Grisha himself can see Zeke: Grisha sees the memories of the future Eren exploring these memories with Zeke, so Grisha sees Zeke through Eren. Notice how everytime Grisha sees future Zeke, future Eren is also looking at Zeke.
@celeschan902 жыл бұрын
If you look at Eren's positioning in the scenes, notice how Grisha is only able to see Zeke when he's in Eren's field of vision? In Grisha's office, Eren was standing behind Grisha, looking at both his father and Zeke. And at the end, first Grisha didn't see Zeke, just assumed that he was there. But then he sees him, and soon after we see Eren approached them from behind Grisha, viewing both of them. It seems like Grisha sees these future memories through the point of view of Eren's eyes. So when he was staring at Eren in the doorway, it was actually that he saw himself through Eren's eyes. So he knew Eren was standing there in front of him.

Loved the way that the show gives subtlety to how the Attack Titan power works. All Titan Shifters can see past memories of past users like Armin having Bertholdt's meories but the Attack Titan is different, the user can basically see memories of the future users as well. Like Eren Kruger mentioning Mikasa and Armin's name when he talked to Grisha. (Season 3 Episode 21) Grisha can literally see Eren's memories of both his sons watching him. So he has a live feed through Eren's eyes as long as Eren is willing to share his memories to past Grisha.

The explanation of Grisha managing to see Zeke, and seeing Eren is not that they went to the past. Grisha can see glimpses of Eren's memories from the future (when Zeke forces Eren to surf his dad's memories), and when he felt Zeke in the room, Eren was standing right behind Grisha, so he saw what Eren was seeing, also when he used to look at Eren directly, he was seeing what Eren was seeing; himself. Even in the last scene he wasn't seeing Zeke physically, he was just seeing what Eren was seeing. This Isyama guy is brilliant !

This reminds me a lot of the movie Arrival. Where time is a circle and the future influences and guides the past towards that very future happening to begin with.

Also one thing I thought might be possible is when Eren saw the memories of the royal family getting murdered what if he saw himself and what he had become so that’s why he was so disgusted with it?

Eren only knew the future when he kissed Historia's hand, that was the moment he saw grisha's memory, and in those memories grisha has received future eren's memories.
@sunshinezzz44662 жыл бұрын
But why can eren see Grisha’s memories ONLY when he touches someone with royal blood? Why can’t he see his predecessor’s memories regardless of this royal blood thing, just like all other titan shifters can, Just like armin saw Bertoldt’s memories?

Basically Grisha could see them. They are not seeing his memories while in the present, they are doing it in that coordinate place where Ymir Fritz is. There is no time there. So they are actually seeing Grisha's memories the moment he is living it.

What’s really interesting is we are told the Attack Titan has always been driven by a desire for freedom. My first thought was how ironic it was in this episode that we learn that all this time the future is set in stone, and the Attack Titan knows this, so essentially it is the one being that knows that no one really has free will, everything is predetermined. My second thought, and this is pure speculation, I haven’t read the manga, is that since the Attack Titan is essentially controlled by its successor, what if Eren is the end of the line and it has been his desire for freedom that has driven the Attack Titan for thousands of years? That would be a pretty cool twist.
@izdihartinina83542 жыл бұрын
the most ironic part for me is that. I already have this bad feeling since the first ep when eren's dream under the tree has been shown. That time I wanna stop watch right away because it must be so ironic. But too bad if I stop watch it too soon like that. So I continue it until I forgot about that dream. Then it happens now in the final season. True that we can not change the future. We just following the path that already set in the stone until now.

What will really get you going is this train of thought: Marley had full control of seven of the nine Titans. The Founder was in Paradis. The Attack Titan was just running around, free, wherever it wanted. No one but the Owl knew he held the Attack Titan. And no one knew but Grisha when he held it. Marley couldn't catch it. Because the holder was free to send memories back to ensure Marley could not capture it. Eren did not just ruin Grisha, he also ruined the Owl, and every holder of the Attack Titan prior in order to keep it free of Marley control. Remember how the Owl complained about how much his life sucked and that he had wasted it killing his own people and that he did not even know why? Eren.

5:55 because he was huehuehue this episode just manifested how strong zekes daddy complex is and how he projected it onto eren all this time and all the eldians pretty much, hence he doesnt have a problem with the euthanization if this saves everyone from living through what he had to live through.

In simple term its is kinda like time paradox. Eren hold the key of the destiny which confirms he is the last attack titan and everything end with him. Thats why eren keeps saying he is free not a slave (grisha).

We must know that Grisha did not want what he and Zeke's relationship turned out to be. He's just loaded with so much responsibility as a restorationists leader and his dire need to have a revenge against Marley as soon as possible. Remembering his dialogue way back in season 3 part 2 as Eren go through Grisha's Marley memories. So maybe Grisha's thinking that as for his atonement to what he'd done to Zeke, he's going to pour all his love and care for his son Eren, and not just because Krugger said so.

Also future future Eren showed himself only glimpses as he did with his father to assure that things would happen. And Eren the moment he became stoic and cold it was the moment he knew what would happen in the future (when he kissed Historia’s hand) and that there is nothing stopping it. Eren is the prisoner of his obsession with freedom. Ironic.

If you pay close attention to this episode you will realize that the words eren used to manipulate his father into completing his mission are the same words kruger (the owl) used to motivate grisha into continuing his mission in season 3 episode 21. Like “Keep going even in death, even after death” And “you were the one to start this story” I was mind blown when i learned this
@jasonmichael65432 жыл бұрын
If everything is set in stone, then Eren is truly not free, and he never has been. So when he insults Mikasa and fights Armin, I think thats why he looks hurt/angry when Armin is like "You're the one who's a slave." I always wondered why that insult seemed to momentarily break the cool and distant facade he had going. That's my head canon at least lol
