I like how Armin took credit for killing Eren. He did so not for a selfish reason but in unspoken way to ensure that Mikasa could move about freely, have time to mourn and bury Eren without the world placing a spotlight on her. She could live her life in peace and quiet because of that action by Armin.

@lmao718310 ай бұрын
@@cesruhf2605 Yes, of course, Armin saying that he killed Eren is a good opening and adds to the weight of authority for the meat of his main argument of, "If we were still Titans then mere guns would be ineffective against us". Ergo highlighting how he was opposed to Eren and how they are now defenseless, harmless and not Titans. But he could of also not taken credit for killing Eren. In fact, instead he could of said something to the effect of, "I'm Armin Arlelt and I helped to defeat Erin Jaeger" which would of been more accurate and still not weakened his objective of saving people from getting shot. However what is unspoken, when he takes credit for killing Eren, is how his statement ensures there would be no later questions about who exactly killed Eren. Which in turned not only saved people from immediately being shot but also provided the world a Eldian hero, an Eldian Helios if you will, for humanity. And again, from his perspective, his statement also allowed his Mikasa the freedom, and peace of mind, to bury Eren and grieve for him without the weight of the world crashing down on her shoulders.

Hello from Japan🇯🇵 This is my first time to write a comment but I knew about girls!And finally the time has come to say this. I know you guys have always wondered why the bird is described so many times. The reason is the last scene where the bird wrapped a scarf around Mikasa. The bird is a seagull whose Japanese name is "Tozokukamome" and its English name is "Pomarine "jaeger"". Therefore, it is well known in Japan that Eren may have been transformed into this bird after his death and came to Mikasa. That is why there are many depictions of Eren as a bird. Also, the words "like a bird" and "bird cage" are used many times in the op and ed sections. (It’s Japanese, so please look it for!) As you can see, there is a lot of foreshadowing and discussion in AOT and I encourage you to take another look at it!!! Well, it will take me a little longer to rewatch it, though, as I, like you guys, am still recovering from my wounds🥺

Erwin's final speech: " You‘re precisely right. It‘s all meaningless. This is frustratingly wrong. You missed out the next part of Erwin's speech, where he explains why their deaths aren't meaningless. It's because the living will still remember them, just like they remember the dead who died before them. In other words, life has meaning because of your connection to those you care about, your ancestors and descendants. Armins philosophy to Zeke is instead about appreciating the small moments in life. They aren't the same at all, and if you think they are you weren't paying attention

@Chris-ko7ov Жыл бұрын
No need to generalize, I liked the ending but it does have flaws. Especifically about how the rumbling stopped with Zeke, while he isn't needed anymore since Ymir does not care about royal blood at last. If zeke isn't needed, then rumbling shouldn't have stopped. If it was needed, Eren shouldn't have transformed into colossal afterwards, nor did the Hallucigenia needed to get back to Eren if he still had the founders. So yeah, Yams need some explaining to do because it gets confusing if he doesn't express what he meant. Also in the end Ymir was supposedly waited for Mikasa to have the strenght like her to let go of King Fritz, but then again Mikasa NEVER forgets Eren, she wears the scarf till the end and gets buried besides him regardless of having a life with Jean (ouch). This is understandable but not the best decision IMO. Also if Mikasa can't have her memory erased the phrase "Do you remember now TOO Armin? when Eren came to visit us." is a confusing one, since he take her to the PATHS at the moment he was about to die. All of this can be explained, I'm not being a hater. What I don't really liked was how so many potential characters were ghosted and or never had closure. Reiner, yelena, Annie, HISTORIA, Falco, etc etc. So much wasted potential. IMO at least a season before this closure is missing. REGARDLESS, I loved the ending. The feelings, the animation, the never ending cycle, the consecuences of what shame, war, sadness, anger, dreams, pain can create in a person to the point where ANY path leads to the same genocide, was amazing. 10 years of masterpiece.

@@Chris-ko7ov Ur Zeke point still holds to Ymir still loving the King. So she still held that Will till Mikasa. The creature needed to get back to Eren since he is the final host. (So would make sense that it grant him the power of the Colossal) It is said that once a Shifter dies the power will transfer to the next baby born right after. But the Founder is the "main core" of the Paths and the creature needs a host to continue; The only reason the Shifter powers culd transfer to the next baby is bc of the Founder itself. Also the imagery shown confirms that Eren took Mikasa into the Paths for those "four years" on the night on the hill when he asked her wht she felt about him; Before he left on his own to infiltrate Marley. Gave the memories back to her during the fight so she would have the "strength" to be able to do it, because he gave her a small bit of what she desired. Also you can still love someone despite having to let them go. I will agree on the side characters needing a lil more fleshing out on their closure though.

This was more than a show to me. I've never been attached to something like this before. It honestly feels like the end of this show and the deaths of the characters actually happened in real life. Also the show being 10 years long lasted from when I got out of highschool until being 29 years old! So I also grew with this show. Lastly AOT may be a dark anime but there's alot of things in the series that in today's society are difficult to find like a true connection between friends or a significant other and a real purpose something beyond the bullshit 9-5. This show actually feels more real than life.

For everyone asking why they cry so much, here's the answer: 1. They are super sentimental and sensitive 2. They have grown to really love and connect to the characters 3. But the ACTUAL reason they are crying so much, even for an insignificant scene is because this is the last episode of one of their fav shows. Thats it, just the idea of once it finishes, that's it, there's nothing more after it, breaks their heart. And this is nothing new, for every show they watch for a long time, they get super sad in the last episode. Breaking bad, better call saul, ATLA, etc.

As a manga reader, I remember a lot of ppl (mostly edgelords) didn't like Eren whining about Mikasa. I thought it fit perfectly with his character and he is only 19 at this time so it makes sense he would feel strongly about not being able to live with the girl he's loved most of his life. This show is more about reading what not in the subtitles all the time. You have to read between the lines and take into account what the characters principles are, and the images/symbology. They are super smart and really feel it in their souls, which is the proper way to take a story this epic into account. Also, asking the RIGHT questions can often get you there. Foreshadowing is easy to see if you read a lot of books and something tells me they do. I had read the Song of Ice and Fire, and I predicted many things because it really is "between the lines" given to you. I even had predictions for the ending of the show... but they muffed it lol. That is my biggest complaint about the ending. It doesn't ruin it for me. It doesn't even make it a subpar ending for me. But I really wish the main crew lost some people in the last battle. It lowers the stakes. Eren was the BBEG so him dying is a given. But losing core members would hurt, and AOT is supposed to hurt. But Japanese media culture requires every death to have a dedicated send off for big characters. The entire genre of anime seems incapable of casually killing off main characters even in the final episode. It's not a deal breaker but it leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I do love the after credits scene. You can't erase violence with ultra violence and it solidifies how much an stupid kid Eren is.

Mikasa experienced 4 years in the paths with eren. While she experienced less than 10 seconds in the real world. Must have been a wild experience. I have good news though, guys. About Eren and Mikasa. It should help you all feel better. SPOILER WARNING. Chapter 138 showed us Mikasa and Eren in the Paths (just like 139 showed us Armin and Eren in the paths). Mikasa actually spent 4 years with Eren in the paths!!! Notice, when she gets there he says that they've been there 2 months and that he has 4 years left. At the end, he is dying (because the 4 years are up)! THATS when he asks her to forget him. When she "comes back" she tightens her scarf and says NO (she won't forget him). She didn't know where Eren was until AFTER she had the flashback. That's because while they were in the paths, he told her what she would have to do to stop him. And she had the memory at exactly the moment she needed it to kill him. Mikasa had that moment with Eren in the past, but he blocked it from her memory until the right time! Then she says "see you later Eren" and kills him. They had the 4 years guys!! In the paths time is relative. It may have been seconds on earth, but they were together! They loved each other for 4 years. That's why when Eren is with Armin he says he wanted more time with her, and that he wished he had 10 years!!! In the end, Mikasa never took the scarf off or forgot him. And he sends the bird to "wrap the scarf again" to remind her that he loves her and is waiting for her in the AOT afterlife. So they did have their short little forever together!
@samuelfelix9550 Жыл бұрын
Eren didn't block any memories of Mikasa. Ackermans memories can't be erased. Eren took her to that memory just before she kills her. In real time, it's just a few seconds but in paths it's 4 years.

Milena and Lola, I cant put into words how much I appreciate your love and understanding towards this AMAZING series and characters, specially towards Mikasa. You have no idea the amount of hatred she received when the manga finished (And also Eren, for not being the "chadlord" some ppl wanted him to be), its been wonderful having your commenting and loving her the way you did all throughout your aot journey. And its amazing the way you predicted literally everything??? that was about to happen. Love you girls! Mikasa best girl, ending a 2000 years course, freeing Ymir, and sacrificing the love of her life in the process to save the WHOLE world. I wanna hug her so much. But well, some facts here: - In Eren's grave, Mikasa wrote "Here forever, rest peacefully. My most beloved, my dear. 854" _ Eren and Mikasa truly lived 4 years in the cabin world we saw (4 years in paths time of course, that in real time was just seconds). Eren for real created a beautiful and perfect world for her, for them, so they could experience what it could have been. He loved her so much that it hurts. - in the credits' scene, is shown Mikasa died, and then you have a small glimpse of an old Armin visiting their graves, she was buried next to Eren. - Armin on his way to visit Eren and Mikasas graves is also kinda poetic if you think about it, because Armin as well was the last one reaching the same tree on that hill when they were kids. - Eren had his eyes closed all throughout the rumbling, he opened them in his last moment to see Mikasa one last time. - Also the ending song when Mikasa was sitting under the tree, is singing by Mikasa herself! (Or well, Yui Ishikawa, Mikasa´s voice actor), and after the bird wraps the scarf around her, Eren/Yuki Kaji (Eren´s voice actor) joins her! - The Ai Higuchi Ending song for this season: The song is literally a love letter to the love of Mikasa and Eren, that even implies, them meeting in afterlife after Mikasa passes away.

While I don't agree with Milena (in this specific thing, I like her general opinions), I gave her massive respect for how she expressed it. First of all bc she's respectful about it, to Lola that didn't feel that way, to the story itself and to the author as she doesn't go to blame/hate on him, as many other fans do. And second, bc she admits it's her problem more than the story's. A lot of fans can't separate their tastes and what they want with what's well written, she can think the cabin scene to the death scene are rushed, but she admits with no shame that that's bc she can't process so much so quick and needs time in the middle to breath so she can fully get and feel each thing before of getting to the next and that changing that would make her experience better bc that's how it is for her, and that she would have prefered the story to go for a more fanservice route no matter if it's unrealistic and doesn't make all the sense (as there's no way to put scenes to breath in the middle of all that), so she can like it better for her personal taste. I think AOT fandom would be a way more healthy place if people were more like her.

@vindifference Жыл бұрын
Personally it wasn't necessarily him being pathetic that made me cringe, but more the continuation of Isayama's underwhelming portrayal of Eren's veiled feelings. I can "accept" the written fact that Eren loves Mikasa in "that way", but their supposed romance has never done anything for me in its execution. Even ArminxAnnie felt more represented, despite one of them being absent for 2.5 seasons. So Eren breaking down about it in the end, after a whole series of what has mostly been his stoicism and posturing, was just something I couldn't care about. I was indifferent. It felt somewhat embarrassing, but didn't lessen my opinion of him. It kinda made me feel embarrassed for Isayama that he even wrote it in, cause in any other decent romance it probably would've hit pretty hard. My heart isn't there with Eren like it would be in a usual romance, rather I'm just spectating his awkward outpouring with no real connection to his plight, and going "oooo-kaaaay then...anyways."

I think what you missed from the scene where everyone turns into titans is that everyone who wasn't a titan shifter or Ackerman was about to turn, that's why those leave, bc if they stay there the rest can eat them and they need to go fight Eren, so they can't deal with them first. They also can't save anyone by just making them getting into Falco and get away bc by the moment they notice everyone was already breathing that, so there was no salvation, they just were going to turn, so the only thing they could do was leaving to save themselves go keep fighting Eren, since they won't turn.

Attack on Titan was always a story about love and hope. One of the early messages (which came as a Mikasa quote) is in the first arc (Battle for Trost): "this world is cruel, but it's also beautiful". Even after all the death and destruction, every arc ended with hope in the horizon. Love kept Mikasa going, even after she thought she had just lost her family again. Love and hope is what keep humans, not only violence and war. This is perfectly reflected in the ending. Zeke's conversation with Armin is one of those moments, why would we keep pushing to live if everything is meaningless, if death it's always the goal? Because life is not about the bleakness of the end, it's about the meaningless moments on the road, it's about the mundane, that's the beauty of life and the beauty of the world. People say the ending is pointless because "humans will be humans" and "war always starts and Paradis eventually gets wiped out", but before that happens there's a period of peace and that's what we must fight to achieve. Armin expresses this: is the lesson here we must kill or be killed? No. The lesson is we must keep searching for the hope that one day we might understand each other, and we know they achieved that because Paradis remained untouched and in peace for probably a thousand years. Yes, the cycle of violence is inevatibale, but I'm sure after that conflict, another period of peace came, when we see that boy exploring the ruins of what was Paradis, and so on and so on. So in the end, it's a hopeful message, as it always was, because Isayama was never a nihilist.

@Bdavis2475 Жыл бұрын
You ladies were spot on in your predictions over the past few seasons about the main theme of the show. I think most people angry at the end of the show are young men who were glorifying Erens power and domination. They were surprised to see Eren end up being portrayed as wrong and even as tragic, after he built up so much power. But the signs were there for a long time. Eren is a menace and what he did was wrong. He's strong, but not a true warrior. 😢 RIP Eren.
People sure hate on Eren crying over not getting Mikasa, but we have to look at it from this POV. Eren lost all of his free will, when he kissed Historia's hand. He was used by other characters before that moment, but after that, he was full on gone. The edgy, determined, genocidal Eren is basically him not being able to fight his future. The moment where he whines over not wanting Mikasa to forget him, was the actual human being version of Eren, emerging and giving his honest feelings. Had he not been ''controlled'', who knows, he might have ran away with Mikasa. But basically he had no choice, and the real Eren regrets that he lost out on something he really wanted. Couldn't have his cake and eat it too.

@milkshakespeare1 Жыл бұрын
You see, that's one of the (many) things I don't buy about the ending. It's one thing for Eren to lose his free will ~metaphorically, like the whole thing of him being a slave to his own mind and need for freedom in the only twisted way he can conceive (which we all assumed was happening, and it works beautifully to me), now it's a whole different thing to just LITERALLY strip him of all free will and make him be a sort of puppet of Ymir who needed to, for some ridiculous reason, see his head being cut off by Mikasa (let's not even start talking about this). Like, to do this with Eren's character basically strips a lot of the significance of his moto throughout the series (the whole need to constantly "keep moving forward", to convince himself to just "tatakae", "if you win, you live", and that thing that Levi told him in season One about no one being able to know what's the best course of action, you just have to do what you believe is right and hope for the best), and REDUCES him to a mere puppet, making him a much less compelling character for me. That was probably one of the things that disappointed me the most about the ending.

I am Japanese. The foreshadowing of Attack on Titan is also in the numbers, and it's amazing. 104÷13=8 (104th Training Corps) ÷ (Ymir's 13-year curse) = (8 survivors) The survivors of the 104th Training Corps Mikasa, Armin, Jean, Connie, Reiner, Annie, Hitch, Historia, There are 8 people, and the number 104 is a foreshadowing of how many people will survive at the end. Also on page 13 of episode 1 of volume 1 of the manga. There is only one flashback scene where Mikasa says ``See you later Eren'', but if you line up the calendar of 845, you get the number 13845, and on page 45 of episode 138 it says ``See you later Eren''. The scene depicts Mikasa kissing Eren. Also, the year 2000 can be derived from the number 2000 if we look back at the story. During his speech, Willy Tyber said that the person who built the three walls was the 145th King Fritz. 145 x 13 years = 1885 In the second episode of the manga, when the trainees graduate from training, the instructor says that the wall was built ``107 years ago.'' 1885+107 years=1992 Eren's life expectancy is 8 years from the year he graduates from the training corps (because he was given an injection 5 years ago when he was a child). 1992+8=2000. Attack on Titan also has foreshadowing in numbers It's really amazing.

This finale is the greatest episode of any show I’ve ever seen. It absolutely exceeded my expectations. I already loved the ending in the manga, but the anime elevated everything to a whole different level. The animators went all out and delivered by far the best animation in the whole show. The OSTs used are absolutely beautiful and fit every scene perfectly. Eren’s conclusion is a masterpiece. The scene with Mikasa beheading and kissing him is my favorite anime moment of all time. The adaptation in this scene in particular exceeded everything I hoped for. The Rumbling is depicted in a terrifying and dark way I’ve never seen before in any anime. Everything being black and white except for the baby is art at its finest. I also love the dialogue changes when Eren and Armin talk for one last time. In the manga, Armin thanks Eren for turning himself into a mass murderer, which is a bit unfitting to Armin’s character and led to a lot of controversy. Him instead thanking Eren for showing him the outside world is a lot more satisfying. Attack on Titan is my favorite show of all time and now it also has my favorite ending in all of fiction. It’s perfection from start to finish without a single bad moment in the entire series. This has been an incredible journey and I can’t thank everyone who worked on this project, especially Hajime Isayama, enough for creating this masterpiece. It’s really hard to say goodbye to something that has changed my life forever. This is truly the end of an era.

Debunking some criticisms I've seen on this finale: 1) Isayama didn't "suddenly turn a story about war and violence into a love story at the end". Love has always been a huge theme in Attack on Titan, whether it be platonic (Eren/Armin, Reiner/Bert, Connie/Sasha, Levi/Hange/Erwin), familial (Eren/Carla, Marcel/Porco, Colt/Falco, Grisha/Zeke/Eren, Annie/her dad, Connie/his mom), or romantic (Annie/Armin, Eren/Mikasa, Falco/Gabi, Niccolo/Sasha, Jean/Mikasa, Bert/Annie). I do agree that Founder Ymir's Stockholm Syndrome with King Fritz kind of came out of nowhere and wasn't really even hinted at previously, but it ties into the reason Mikasa was able to put an end to the power of the Titans very well, so I'm not upset about it. 2) "If they finished the opposing side (ie Eren killed ALL of humanity aside from Paradis), Paradis wouldn't have gotten destroyed in the end credits. Floch was right." Absolutely not. If humans on Paradis were the only ones left, who's to say they wouldn't have eventually split off into factions who wanted their own territories/government? In fact, they definitely would have. As Erwin said all the way back in season 2, violence will continue all the way until there are only two people left in the world. 3) I can't believe people were actually mad about Reiner sniffing the letter. Y'all it's really not that deep. It's just a funny callback to seasons 1 & 2 Reiner, similar to Annie's line about being in the military police 😭 4) Who Mikasa marries/has a child with. To me, it doesn't matter whether the man Mikasa marries is Jean or not. It's completely normal that she moves on and starts a family (in the anime, you can see she's wearing a ring when she's dead of old age). Even if it's Jean, it's not out of the question that she's able to fall in love with him, and that doesn't have to translate to her forgetting about Eren.
@thelegacyofgaming2928 Жыл бұрын
2. Actually, you are wrong here. You are making pure assumption that Paradis would get destroyed (by people who come from the island, which makes no sense), whereas it is 100% factual that Paradis will get destroyed if the rumbling is stopped. Floch was indeed right, whether you like him or not. Who cares if violence continues, the goal is to not have Paradis blown off the map. Violence doesn't = the eradication of an entire nation. Just as a civil war does not = Paradis destroyed. U.S. had a civil war and it's still there. 3. I've probably seen 1 comment taking the letter sniffing seriously, it's mostly something to make fun of because it's pretty weird. 4. Mikasa is with Jean at the end, but as you say, it doesn't matter. Only ending defenders seem to have an issue with that since it ruins their headcanon.
@jrlombardi5251 Жыл бұрын
Ymir's Stockholm Syndrome was well done, she always acted as someone who has it (it happened to tons of real slaves, unfortunately) and it tides up perfectly. I have seen people getting to the conclusion of her having just by seeing how she saved his life when they were about to kill him, so it was in fact something people was able to see and that's bc it was something that fits how the syndrome is, ppl just doesn't know a lot about it, so they tend to believe some symptoms are different to how they are or take as normal things stuff that is in fact representing those symptoms. You're right about the paradis thing tho, not just by what Erwin said but also by the mere fact of how their history is. When the Old Eldian Empire was the most powerful in the world and no one could do absolutely nothing against them and they had it all, what happened? Civil wars. They weren't able to stop finding reasons to fight, it's human nature, so they started to fight each other as they had all the rest already. Like, a civil war literally destroyed the most powerful empire to ever exist, and ppl still believes a tiny island run by facist dictators who got into power with a violent coup to rule under the laws of violence and seeing massive genocide of innocents as not just necessary but also good and the answer to their problems, celebrating the deaths of even their own people and attacking those who complained about it just to adore their killer, leaving them with one foot in the civil war, that, seriously that, is what they believe that will do better that the old eldian empire? It's even ironic bc the jaegerists want to imitate the old eldian empire, them having their same ending if they had the chance with the rumbling, is just perfect. Peak comedy to those who don't notice. Same with Reiner, you're so right, people got MAD for it. Like, the amount of people I saw non ironically calling that Isayama ruining Reiner, hating on that, treating it like comedy bc it's so bad that they say it can just be that or treating like he was a super creep sexual assaulter. It was madness. I even remember having discussions about this bc ppl was so into that, and one even went like "and what would you think if some dude sniffs your mom's letter, huh?! Huh?!" And I was like "dude, who cares, are you 10 years old or something?" This fandom is crazy. And btw, about the last point, Isayama confirmed in his last guidebook that Mikasa died as a virgin so we know the kid is adopted (which tbh is a far more cute and fitting way to close her character arc, since it connects directly to her backstory and the moment she met Eren), so that's the level of stupidity from the fandom, they're like complaining about things that were confirmed as not true. They love to ignore Isayama and fight people who pays attention to him. Just like when they made a meme out of Armin and Eren scene and said Isayama destroyed Armin's character there too, then ignored when Isayama said what that Armin line meant, then saw the change in the anime that shows the meaning of that line better and then they suddenly love that scene so much and thank Isayama for changing his mind, like, when did he change his mind? That was always the meaning, he said two years ago, why would you talk without info or fight people who tells you Isayama said that, just to pretend you barely find out and love it later? Being in this fandom was a freaking nightmare.
