Believe me, most folk in that country hate communism, but the regime is not exactly communist anymore, but a totalitarian. Remember how May Flowers had to escape to America from England's bloody Mary who burned a record number of dissidents at the stake? "Commie-in-name-only" (CINO) regimes like the ccp and vcp are kinda like bloody Mary's England...they will literally torture you, imprison you, or just beat you to death the minute you try to revolt against their brutal control. They have secret police everywhere, disguised as ordinary citizens and special military forces on stand-by to crush any uprising (remember the Tiananmen Square Massacre?)

"I don't think I understand Communism that well... or maybe they don't." (Yeah, it's the second more than the first. It's like in some parts of Asia where they pray to the Buddha. Completely misunderstanding the fundamentals to do what they know. Communist these days mostly just means that the ruling party keeps control and doesn't let anyone run against them in an election. They can be highly authoritarian, but also relatively stable, like a huge council of kings running the show. Because they keep people relatively happy and safe, they can continue to rule. I say it's much preferable to the constant military coups in Latin America and Africa. But it's not all bread and roses.)

17:45 they were thinking about pushing this dude to the gas station but all of them weren't confident, since they don't know English and don't know how to tell him that they would push him to the gas station, hahaha. All of them know he needed gas but it's a rural area and they can only tell him to move forward. It's very uncommon for people to have extra gas unless they were some opportunistic person looking to sell gas with high price. I think he missed a gas station since the lady at 19:33 told him it's only 1 km ahead, then the lady with vege stand at 20:21 told him it's 2 km ahead. btw at 1:08, shady checkpoint I would say, but it's kinda reasonable since a lot of foreigners ride without license and caused accidents, just some extra careful steps since the policeman noticed some rebel thoughts in his mind hehe.
@JoseSanchez-de7rp
@JoseSanchez-de7rp 5 ай бұрын
@duyvuanh918 How do you know that the people who had motorcycle accidents are unlicensed? Are you a police officer? I highly doubt that people would dare to drive without a license, I think you have a prejudice, I think you just don't want to accept that there's no point in having a license because even if people have one, they have had accidents. If there was no requirement for a license, more people would be driving, so drivers, seeing that there were more drivers around, would slow down, and there would be fewer accidents.

This is the most Vietnamish video a Vietnam video can be. It's glorious! I went twice this year, both times from south to north by scooter, and this video had everything you would see. The mountains in the north are spectacular. The school kids are super friendly. The Vietnamese people are very helpful, and seem to have no animosity towards Americans. Some of the cities can be bleak, but the scenery never lets up, and a HONDA scooter is the best way to see it all! Plus, every city has hotel rooms for $8, and the local food is very cheap.

I like that you're arguing with the laws of a country you're not from without knowing the laws about the country that you're not from. US international driver's licenses aren't valid in Vietnam. It's the law. They let you off while you were the one breaking the law. Also, some people won't understand that the complete mistranslations were not accurate. I feel like you know that, though. They were literally being polite, and even called you 'ban' or 'friend' while you weren't there, and you translated it to some racist nonsense about communism vs. imperialism.

The translator is kinda sus at the part 3:09 "These damn tourists and their logic don't they know how communism works". She doesn't said that, the translator just made it out, she was trying to explain to her superiors and asked him what to do "Bạn ý bảo là cái giấy phép lái xe của bạn ý là từ...(cut)...." means "He said his driving permit is from...(cut)". And the second part 3:27 "...you know what we should do boss? We should lock this guy up for being a filthy capitalist pig" He also doesn't said that, the translator also made that up. This could just be another normal chilling travel vlog if the translator didn't bend the meaning of what the cop said. Put politics aside, when a translator bend the meaning of words he's up for no good 😑 Your video is kinda funny and chilling except the first part that got bended into savage by an idiot

Many travellers do not realise there are THREE IDP's (International Driving Permits). They are no's 1926, 1949 and 1968. Dependent on which country you are visiting will determine which IDP you need. For instance, Vietnam is no.1968. For Cambodia it is no.1949 and Thailand no.1968. For instance, if you were visiting Thailand and then travelling to Cambodia you would require TWO IDP's. One for Thailand (1968) and one for Cambodia (1949). I hope this clears up any confusion.

@@JaysonBicBoipolice entrap you all the time on roadways. That’s how a lot of small, podunk towns make their money, by trapping passing drivers and fining them. If you’re local, they go “well why didn’t you know this extremely obscure traffic law?” If you aren’t from around there, then they go even harsher on you, trying to intimidate you. Police can go off crazy power trips on their own, so I bet it’s a lot harder to get off with just a warning if you’re not white. Crazy police story: my dad was beaten by a police officer on the 4th of July one year. He was in a public park when some other people shot off a bunch of fireworks and then scrammed. He was the only one left in the park when the police arrived, so they assumed he shot these fireworks. They slammed him against his car hood, beat him, and broke his car windows. What’s more, they got away with it. Never trust the police, even if you’re totally innocent.

Infact its harder for the police in the West to use any discretion since most interactions are now recorded on body cams. A few years ago, I had a friendly cop in rural China take a break from his evening meal to rip up my parking ticket and release my impounded motorcycle free of charge. That definitely wouldn't have happened here in the UK, especially to a Chinese tourist unable to speak English.
